conditions. detectives are at the scene. we're learning more about a san francisco police officer shot in the line of duty. he is in critical condition following brain surgery. cate? >> reporter: san francisco police's latest update, the department is not yet releasing the name of the officer shot, but close friends with the officer's family tell us his name is kevin dowel. >> reporter: a chaos of flashing lights, part of the neighborhood blocked off. as they were looking for the downed officer's shooter. >> >> reporter: tonight, we're learning more about the officer shot near lakeshore plaza. close family friends say officer downs has been with sfpb for two years. in addition to severing the city, he also cofounded an organization call ranking vets,

comes on shore. on friday, an ef-2 tornado with 125-mile per hour winds tore through the coastal town of mansanito, oregon. phil saw it happen. >> it looked like the wizard of oz. it just, things were just moving like this. then you could see the trees snapping like twigs. >> reporter: in portland, rain flooded the city. seattle has had more rainfall in the past two days than it got in the previously three months combined. this monster of a storm system is the remnants of a powerful pacific typhoon. it has walloped washington and oregon for three days. tens of thousands of people have lost power, and fallen trees have caused injuries. >> we just heard the loud sound. >> reporter: stella's car was

crushed by a tree in her work parking lot. in olympic national park, the coast guard had to rescue 40 kids and 6 adults trapped at a lakeside camp that lost power. it's kind of the same system that's affecting us, being driven by the bigelow that is just sitting and spinning off the coast of washington, and it's not moving anywhere for next 24 hours or so. checking in with the latest on the kpix hi-def doppler, you can see most of this is now in the south bay, but still showers around lever mother, fremont -- livermore, fremont. as we look live to the bay bridge, there will be dense fog forming tonight. if you're crossing the span, a mild system, not like a cold punch. the numbers in the mid-60s there. will be more showers on sunday, as they pinwheel around the bigelow. a few totals, oakland had .75.

about .04 in san jose. flash flood watches posted all weekend, focuses on the santa cruz area. wind gusts, they'll pick up again tomorrow afternoon, but not as strong as we had them today, which is up to 50 miles an hour. you know it was gusty today, but not as bad tomorrow. futurecast does show, you can see the showers around the south bay, then look, yeah, number of impulses coming through. it's a day you think the sun is coming out, it will pour, but then by tuesday, high pressure builds in, and we will head robustly towards temperatures in the mid-80s. so few scattered showers through the weekend, winds will ease up, gusts to 25. it will dry out on tuesday, mid- 80s by friday. in the extended forecast after a day tomorrow that finds variable clouds and scattered showers, we'll clear out on monday, tuesday, and wednesday through the latter half of the
