live from the cbs bay area studios, this is kpix 5 news. >> now at 11:00 p.m. a soggy night around the bay area and the rain is not done yet. >> the man accused of shooting a san francisco police officer dies of his own injuries. >> let's get to kpix 5's joe vazquez live with the latest on the suspect. >> reporter: the suspect was hurt in a shoot out with police on friday. he succumbed to his wounds this afternoon. >> reporter: two days after he shot a san francisco police officer the suspect died from his own gun shot wound. 3:16 p.m. at san francisco general hospital. we are told the suspect had a history of mental problems.

>> reporter: police responded friday night to a call at the lake shore shopping center. the officer was on patrol, the suspect shot him in the head. >> underwent surgery and he still has partial paralysis from the shot to the head. >> the suspect got away. officers stormed the area and came face to face with him. he refused to drop his gun. shots were exchanged. officers backed up. took cover. and a negotiator was brought in. the officers were following protocol. >> there will be a full investigation into that and we will learn from and benefit from what happened there. i think there is a sense that we put life at the top.

>> reporter: the oversways been with the police department for two year -- the officer has been with the police department for two years. and the officer is still listed in critical condition. police are not formally releasing his name but friends confirmed it to kpix 5. reporting live, joe vazquez. >> thank you. storm watch. a messy drive today. the rain made it tough to read the highway signs. and in san francisco the rain flooded the two right lanes this afternoon. the chp had to shift drivers to the left. floodwaters made their way into the oakland coliseum during the raiders game. water poured over some of the wiring. >> and in the mountains the hillsides were drenched, adding

to concerns about mudslide in the burn zones. most of the showers are now moving south and east of the bay area. the low pressure that created this is heading out of the pacific northwest but there are still showers to deal with. ban of showers into the north bay. in general things will dry out tomorrow. big changes later in the week. also, through tomorrow afternoon there will be coastal flood warnings. thousands of people are without power in the bay area. pg&e, 5,000 customers. 4300 in fremont. the cause is not known. wet weather hampering the search for a missing plane in the sierra. the plane was last heard from yesterday near the south shore of lake tahoe. the plane and the pilot were on root from sacramento from

idaho. sheriff's deputies trying to find a driver who hit and killed a woman. the woman was in her 70s found this morning. died at the hospital. five vehicles were in the area last night. they have surveillance video of two of them. a white chevy pickup truck with a camper truck and a king cab toyota. an investigation into a deadly police shooting in santa cruz. 3:30 a.m. this morning a 911 call said a man was making death threats. police found the suspect and tried to arrest him. they say that is when he grabbed a rake and started swinging. police tried using a taser. when that didn't work they shot him. one man is dead and two injured during a triple shooting. we told you about this last

night. sheriff's deputies are leaving the investigation -- leading the investigation. b.a.r.t. police have a suspect who they think smashed up a station agent booth this morning. workers used wood to cover up the window. nobody was hurt. loud pop and a lot of smoke caused this commotion in san francisco south of market this afternoon. pg&e determined it was an equipment failure inside a man hole. four years after sierra lamar vanished the man accused of kidnapping and killing her will go to trial. antolin garcia-torres is accused of abducting her in 2012. her body was never found but investigators have dna evidence linking antolin garcia-torres to her disappearance. if convicted he could face the

people braved the frain the music festival. the -- rain for the music festival. some fans stormed social media to demand refund on their tickets. one person tweeted show times were delayed. not prepared for rain. closed most areas down and performers flaked. #refund. another person tweeted the rain or shine was false marketing. organizers responded to the complaints saying many of you grew frustrated at the lack of information and we want to apologize. the organizers announced they will not be refunding tickets. the rain didn't stop veterans from hitting the road today. they are riding in the california challenge from palo alto to santa monica. it helps disabled veterans ride the road to recovery together. >> when they get on a bike they have freedom.
