now, donald trump probably would have called him a loser. good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs news headquarters in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. well, today, hillary clinton campaigns in florida and donald trump is in north carolina. two very important states where early voting is already under way. meanwhile, the latest e-mails released from the hacked account of clinton adviser john podesta paint a stunning picture of the frustration and concern about clinton's private e-mail server. roxana sabera is here in new york. good morning. >> good morning. >> reporter: trump was working with fresh material in florida, hitting clinton on the wave of wikileaks e-mails and obamacare. several hundred miles down the coast, clinton urged supporters not to get complacent over her recent surge in the polls.

on the third straight day in florida, trump campaigned against hillary clinton. >> i'm going to repeal it and replace it. she is going to expand it and it's going to get more and more expensive. >> reporter: he took aim on hillary clinton. >> with her, you'll end up in world war iii. she doesn't know what she is doing. >> reporter: president obama seizing on an exchange from the batch of hacked e-mails released by wikileaks yesterday. in it, former staff cheryl mills allegedly suggests that clinton was using her e-mail while secretary of state. >> he is caught up, folks. we have to investigate the investigation. >> reporter: other e-mails purportedly show top aides struggling to get past clinton's e-mail scandal, including campaign chair john podesta who questioned her instincts. ahead of her 69th birthday, clinton ignored latest wikileaks dump and focusing on trump's

rhetoric. >> now after spending his entire campaign attacking one group of americans after another, now his final target is democracy itself. >> reporter: and warning supporters not to be complacent. >> we have got to turn people out. >> reporter: clinton will get a boost from khan, a gold star father, as he campaigns for her in virginia today. tomorrow, clinton hits the trail with first lady michelle in obama. yesterday, the democratic nominee was endorsed by former secretary of state colin powell who blasted trump as unqualified. >> roxana sabera here in new trump mocked vice president jo biden, calling him a tough guy, quote, when he is standing behind a microphone by himself. trump was responding to biden's remarks last week as he was criticizing trump's personal behavior and remarks about women. >> the press always ask me,

don't i wish i were debating him. no, i wish i was in high school and i could take him behind the gym. >> do you see where biden wants to take me? to the back of the barn. i'd love that. >> speaking in florida, trump said if he had said the same thing biden had said, he would be accused of being violent. coming up on "cbs this morning," we will talk about the campaign with donald trump's campaign manager kellyanne conway. overseas now. the battle to retake the iraqi city of mosul has spread out. the fighting has forced more refuges to flee the besieged city. holly williams reports from iraq. >> reporter: the refuges are a fraction of those still trapped under isis inside mosul. but there are fears already that isis fighters could use the exodus to escape or launch terror attacks. as this camp, housing some refuges from mosul, they separate the men on arrival to interrogate them. these men told us they welcome

it, because they fled here to be safe. but ahmad, who came from the south is accused of being an isis fighter. he admits that his father and two brothers joined the extremists, but he is adamant that he did not. why did you flee now? why not before? we heard there was an amnesty for people, even if they had family members in isis, he said, so i came to find out. he can only join the other refuges if he can prove he is innocent. a week into the mosul offensive, isis is outgunned and outmanned, but fighting back with its trademark guerrilla tactics. suicide attacks and car bombs, digging networks of tunnels and launching surprise assaults like

this one in the town of ritber, 200 miles west of baghdad. planting its fighters among desperate refuges to wreak more violence is a tactic that isis will find hard to resist. since this offensive began, the united nations has received unconfirmed reports of massive -- massacres in mosul, including the killing of 50 police officers and the murder of 70 civilians in a village near the city. holly williams, cbs news, in northern iraq. now that the u.s. and others are focused on recapturing territory and cities from isis, what happens when it's all over? yesterday, here in new york, at the council on foreign relations, charlie rose put that question to national intelligence director james clapper and clapper said he is concerned. >> what form does it take after that? because it is probably not going to go away. and it will morph into something

else or other similar extremist groups will be spawned and i believe we are going to be in the business of suppressing these extremist movements for a long time to come. >> clapper also told rose, it's possible russia could shoot down a u.s. war plane if a no fly zone were imposed over syria. speaker of the house paul ryan wants the pentagon to stop its efforts to recover enlistment bonuses paid to service members in california. california is investigating. the pentagon says 6,500 california guard soldiers have been told to repaid the 15,000 or more they were promised if they reenlisted. most served in iraq or afghanistan. the white house has asked the pentagon to speed up its preview, but as of now, the president does not support a blanket waiver. audits resealed the overpayment as recruitments struggle to reach enlistment goals. coming up on "cbs this morning," more on the outrage over the

national guard trying to collect enlistment bonuses from soldiers. oklahoma officials say the man wanted in a string of violent crimes had a hit list, allegedly targeting as many is eight more people. michael vance is wanted on two counts of murder and other charges. he allegedly posted videos on social media during his rampage and last seen monday near the texas border in western oklahoma. the fbi is involved in the search. authorities say those on vance's alleged hit list are under protection. it's reported vance is seeking revenge against those who made accusations he sexually abused children. a british airways flight was diverted after the entire crew became ill. b.a. flight 286 with about 400 passengers en route from san francisco to london when it was diverted to vancouver. all 25 members of the crew were taken to area hospitals as precautionary measures with undisclosed symptoms. they all have been released. no passengers were hospitalized.

the "los angeles times" reports that the tour bus in the crash that killed 13 people did not meet safety standards. investigators say two of its eight tires lacked sufficient tread. federal investigators say it could take up to a year to find the cause of sunday's crash. "the new york times" reports that a player who admitted abusing his wife is out of the nfl. the new york giants cut josh brown yesterday. the owner admitted it was a mistake to keep brown on the team after details of his domestic violence arrest emerged last summer. "the seattle times" reports that actor mark ruffalo is joining the protest against the dakota access oil pipeline. he said he will deliver two solar powered trailers today to the demonstrators camped in north dakota. the actor is a cofounder after group that promotes renewable energy that is called the solutions project. the arizona republic reports the filing of criminal contempt charges against the long time sheriff of metropolitan phoenix. joe arpaio is accused of

continuing to enforce civil immigration laws in defiance of a federal court order. a conviction could mean six months in jail for the 84-year-old sheriff. national public radio reports that 2016 will be the deadliest year ever for migrants crossing the mediterranean. the u.n. says more than 3,700 people have died this year trying to reach europe. that is nearly as many all in 2015. among those sailing from libya to italy, one death is reported for every 47 who make it. courier journal of louisville shows the ark is flooded with visitors. officials of ark encounter in kentucky says the biblical theme park has attracted 400,000 people since it opened in july. one of them was bill nye, the science guy, who says every science exhibit is absolutely wrong.

apple stock dropped 2%. apple sold fewer iphones and said it miscalculated the demand for its biggest smartphone, the iphone 7 plus. apple says it's not sure it can make enough units in time for christmas and may also hurt holiday sales. at&t is launching an internet tv service next month. the streaming service, directv now will cost $35 a month undercutting most cable companies and include tnt, tbs and fox and nbc universal. first through internet connection but eventually on 5g wi-fi. if you own a volkswagen, you may be able to sell your car back to the automaker as early as next week. a federal judge approved the settlement to get the cars off the road. it's the largest auto scandal settlement in u.s. history. customers who don't go for the buy-back can have their cars
