scene.. found.. a grisly discovery at a bay area university. right now, excavators are on scene after human remains were found on the sonoma state campus. good afternoon, i'm michelle griego. >> i'm kenny choi. this is all happening in a parking lot m on the sonoma state campus in rohnert park. this is is a live look from chopper 5. you can see crews down there sifting through evidence. this is near a heavily treed area. they have been out there all morning after a body was found in a shallow grave last night. kpix 5's anne makovec is live in rohnert park with the latest on the investigation. anne. >> reporter: yeah. and officers still have not dug up that body. they are first trying to make

sure they gather anything that they can as far as clues around the area. but the coroner is about to arrive on scene. then they will dig up the body and try to identify it at that point. this parking lot here at sonoma state university is blocked off with police tape and the body was found about 200 yards from where i am standing in that wooded area. investigators say they are looking at this as a suspicious death. an employee clearing brush made the discovery yesterday afternoon. a partially buried body on the northwest side of the campus of sonoma state university. >> part of the body is exposed. you cannot tell if it's a man or woman or whether they're clothed or lying on their back or stomach. >> reporter: giving the condition of the body, officers say the person has not been dead long. the coroner will determine the cause of death as well as who this person might be. >> there's nothing right now that stands out in our minds of a recent missing person in the

last week or so. >> it's scary. >> reporter: students got a campus email telling students to report suspicious persons and call a campus escort. >> it makes me think twice about going out at night. >> reporter: today investigators are sifting through the crime scene looking for hair, clothing or any other trace evidence and they are trying to find the entry and exit points looking for shoeprints or bicycle tracks. >> it's a very slow methodical search. we are going to ask for patience because it takes a long time. >> reporter: now, investigators say it's also possible that whoever might have tried to bury this body came in from the other side of the property which is rohnert park expressway. it is all going to be part of this investigation. live on the campus of sonoma state, anne makevoc, kpix 5. new at noon a sinking and tilting high-rise building in san francisco has prompted a lawsuit. san francisco officials announced a short time ago that the city is now suing the

developer of the millennium tower. the 58-story bill sunk 16 inches and tilting 2" to the northeast at the base. >> part of my responsibility as city attorney is to protect san francisco residents and taxpayers from unfair or unlawful business practices. that's why this morning, my office filed a lawsuit against the developer of the millennium tower. >> the lawsuit claims that the builder violated the law by failing to disclose the building's problems, despite knowing of them more than a year before the units went up for sale. wells fargo is under fire again for alleged bad behavior. this time, from the securities and exchange commission. the announcement today joins a long list of government agencies probing the company after two million fake accounts were created by bank employees. however, wells fargo didn't explain exactly what the sec is investigating for other than sales practices. a san jose teen faces a judge today for the first time since the death of his victim.

zachary cuen's family didn't answer any questions as threat of the courtroom this morning -- as they left the courtroom this morning. he is accused of beating an elderly woman during a home invasion robbery in september. miss flo died from her injuries a couple of weeks ago and today prosecutors asked the judge to charge him with murder. . taking a look at our ocean beach camera in san francisco, there is a high surf advisory in effect for the northern and central california coast today. roberta gonzales has the forecast. >> isn't that beautiful? the coast is clear. we have lots of blue skies. but with this area of high pressure out over the pacific ocean, even though it's providing us with plenty of sunshine, we have an area of low pressure that's generating some high surf. so therefore, a surf advisory in effect until tomorrow morning for all of our local beaches and that yellow highlighted area there. what we're talking about is 20- foot-high swells possibly as

high as 27 feet. that's mountain sized and it's all because of this. again, let's point this out for you on our satellite and radar map. what we're dealing with is this high pressure ridge that's providing with us blue skies but it's this way out over the open water. this area of low pressure even though it's way out here, it's generating a high surf out towards our bay area. we'll continue to see the high surf through tomorrow morning with additional dangerous rip currents and sneaker waves. we'll talk about your friday forecast and the weekend some big changes you need to know about. that's coming up later in this newscast. all right, roberta. thank you. heading into the final days of the presidential campaign, the race is growing tighter. each side continues to take aim at the other. craig boswell is at the white house with more. >> it's going to be really interesting to see what happens to her. >> reporter: donald trump campaigned in jacksonville, florida thursday and spend nearly the entire speech calling hillary clinton crooked and a criminal. >> she shouldn't be allowed to run, based on the email

white sox fan has invited the cubs to a visit at the white house. dean reynolds, cbs news, chicago. and as reynolds mentioned, president obama invited the team to d.c. he posted on twitter, it happened, cubs win world series. that's changed even the southsider want to come to the white house before i leave? students and staff at san jose state university will sleep outdoors like the homeless. it will be on the smith carlos lawn. it will aim to bring attention to santa clara county's 6600 residents who are homeless. event will wind down tomorrow morning with a breakfast discussion about homelessness. all right. let's check in with roberta once again with the weather. >> overnight lows are dipping down into the low 40s these days, as well. this morning the coolest location was napa at 42. but boy, are we responding nicely to the bright sunshine outside. a little brisk the wind does kick up out of the northwest.

look at that visibility. from sutro tower we have clear skies, a little bit of low clouds that have drifted in but that's about it. temperature-wise 67 degrees in livermore. it is now 64 in san francisco. and in santa rosa. here's what you need to know on this thursday. it's a pretty autumn day and close to average as far as our stats are concerned. seasonal temperatures on friday and then we begin to cool gently on saturday. a chance of early rain showers on sunday. let's explain why. here's our satellite and radar. we have a few of these clouds that are drifting in. i think i said low clouds earlier. i meant mid- to high level cloudiness associated with this right here. these are clouds that have all sheared away from the main energy out there out over the open waters. so this is the low that's generating the high swells here locally, as well. not providing us with any rain showers but it has a lot of energy associated with it so that high surf advisory is in effect for today through tomorrow morning. here's your futurecast. you see the clouds get closer and closer to the coast.

it will also include a special salute to betty reed soskin one of the city's best known citizens? >> the 95-year-old is the oldest park ranger working for the national park service. she conducts tours at rosie the riveter world war ii homefront national historic park. the party begins at 6:00 at rigors loft wine company. her executive career spanned three decades in businesses such as crocker, transamerica and mondavi. now a sharon chin shows us, a bay area woman is using her skills to empower young people to find fulfilling jobs. reporter: when helen mcdermott retired from 22 years as human resources vice president at robert mondavi winery, she turned to helping young people. >> people would refer their children or their people that they knew that just needed some advice and counsel. >> reporter: she found the yountville nonprofit called a voice found in 2005. >> i thought it was important for young people to find their voice and their voice would be a career that would be meaningful.

>> reporter: as head of the program, helen gives free career counseling to disadvantaged teenagers and adults who face obstacles to education, training and employment. she leads about 30 volunteer mentors and offers scholarships. did you get the new amounts? napa high school assistant jeanette mulgrew says the scholarships allows many students to enroll in college studying fields from automotive technology to nursing. >> some kids have to go to work and help families pay for food on the table and the rent and just day-to-day living or helping babysit the younger children. >> reporter: valley oak high school graduate says the $1,000 scholarship paid for most of her 6 month course in medical assisting. >> it was like a miracle to me because my parents, they could not afford giving me an education. >> reporter: in all, a voice found has awarded more than $200,000 in scholarships and helped more than 200 young people in their education and
