to a teen sex trafficking victim. good afternoon, i'm michelle griego. now at noon new details in the bay area sex scandal connected to a teen sex trafficking victim. >> the district attorney just gave an update on several law enforcement officers implicated in the sex scandal. maria medina reports from martinez. >> reporter: guys, remember, there are already a half a dozen bay area police officers already charged in this case in alameda county. but some of those allegations happened here in contra costa county. so the district attorney decided to look into those allegations and decide whether those officers would face additional charges. basically, the contra costa county district attorney told the media today out of all of those allegations, they are only proceeding to charge a retired oakland police captain

for soliciting a prostitute in the celeste guap case as she was a former teen prostitute who told kpix 5 she had had sex with 30 bay area police officers mostly from the oakland police department. today the contra costa d.a. said many of the allegations that happened in his county according to guap whose real name is abuslin were consensual or when she was over today. >> someone thinks that, well your office doesn't want to file against police officers. we filed criminal charges againspolice officers when the evidence warrants it. just since i have been district attorney's of the county for the last six years unfortunately i filed against officers. >> reporter: as for the retired police captain in oakland, the d.a. did not release his identity. he is going to be charged with a misdemeanor next week but they did say he is in his 80s. live in martinez, maria medina, kpix 5. new at noon, an alameda county woman is missing in what

the sheriff's office is calling a suspicious case. 21-year-old woman was last seen late wednesday night dropping off a friend on 136th avenue in san leandro. a couple hours later a license plate reader found her car a white 2013 chevy cruze near 880 and happy land avenue in hayward. if you see her, contact the sheriff's office. investigators have identified a body found partially buried on the outskirts of sonoma state university. the sonoma county sheriff's department confirms through fingerprints that the remains are those of dirk kimberly missing since october 17. the 18-year-old was last seen leaving his home on a bicycle to meet a friend in rohnert park. a landscaper discovered the remains wednesday clearing brush from a trail near the parking lot. >> there's honestly just shocking, it was crazy. >> all the people i have talk to are not going to walk alone

at night anymore. >> the sheriff's department is investigating the deaths now as a homicide. right now, big waves are pounding the bay area coastline and there's a warning for boaters and surfers. roberta gonzales is here with all the details. >> we have a live weather camera at the cliff house right now. we are looking out over ocean beach. and this tells the story right now. we do have a lot of waves lapping onshore. i just want to point something out. if you are going to be somebody like this person here on the seashore keep an eye on the waves. some are sneaker waves and you could tell that the water line is right there. we have a high surf advisory in effect. sneaker waves can be dangerous as well as dangerous riptides and surf up to 20 feet at mavericks up to 25.

the high surf advisory is in effect until 3 p.m. we'll talk about the effect this low pressure system will have on your weekend. that's coming up later on in this newscast. governor brown held a news conference today urging californians to vote no on proposition 53. the ballot measure would require a statewide public vote on revenue bonds of more than $2 billion. brown had this to say a couple of hours ago in san francisco. >> all the projects that are so vital to our prosperity and our economy and jobs and our environment can be slowed down. the lawyers of california will have a field day bringing one lawsuit after another to try to stop whatever they don't like. people in san diego can stop stuff in the bay area and vice versa. >> the high-speed rail system could be threatened as well as the delta water tunnel. governor brown has been an advocate for both projects. supporters of prop 53 says it

would rein in cost overruns. backers including a stockton businessman and the howard jarvis taxpayers association. we are just under four days until the polls open for election day. both donald trump and hillary clinton are in the final phases of their campaign. craig boswell shows us how the candidates are getting voters to the polls. >> reporter: both hillary clinton and donald trump made stops in north carolina thursday. clinton continued her final pitch to voters. >> do any of us have a place in trump's america? >> reporter: clinton's enlisting help to urge her supporters to vote including hip-hop artist pharrell williams. >> if you have ever been called a minority, go out and vote and show everybody that you are actually really the majority. >> reporter: tonight, beyonce and jay z will join her in cleveland for a get out the

vote concert. donald trump's audience is different. he is targeting republicans and conservative areas. trump focused on law enforcement and the military during a speech in tiny selma, north carolina. >> service members here in north carolina have risked their lives to acquire classified intelligence to protect our country. hillary thought nothing of putting classified information on her illegal server. >> reporter: polls suggest no matter who wins, the new president will have a lot of work to do to heal the country from what has been a divisive campaign. >> this is something that's brought out the dark side of america and we have to find a way to get back on track here. >> reporter: 82% of voters surveyed tell cbs news they are disgusted by the election. craig boswell, cbs news, the white house. >> the latest "washington post" tracking poll shows clinton has a three-point lead over trump nationally which is 47-44%. we'll have extensive coverage late night with ken, liz, allen and veronica as well

as political insiders phil matier and melissa caen and the rest of our kpix 5 team on election day. new at noon, cbs has learned about a potential terror threat ahead of the election! law enforcement sources say the threat comes from al qaeda. intelligence points to attacks taking place in new york, texas and virginia. but the threat information provided no specific targets for possible attacks. as election approaches, federal law enforcement are planning for several worst case scenarios. earlier this week, an alert to local police warned of polling places being seen as attractive targets for "lone wolf" attacks. a senior fbi official says the bureau is working closely with federal, state and local agencies to disrupt and identify potential threats. a well-known chef from the bay area is in legal trouble.

michael chiarello faces dui and drug charges. the california highway patrol says that he was arrested early wednesday morning on silverado trail in napa county near his restaurant in yountville. he is featured on the food network show, easy entertaining. he recently settled a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by two former servers at another restaurant coqueta in san francisco. chicago turned blue today as the city celebrates a world series parade 108 years in the making. the city estimates at least 3 million people are attending the celebration. take a look at this view from above. thousands of people running as the gates opened up to grant park. very exciting. a lot of people. >> a long wait. >> they're running! this is a closer look. the photographer was call caught in the middle of it before the parade. fans rushed to get a good spot. here they are. the 2016 world series champions riding on the top of double- decker buses. the party started at wrigley

deliver narcotics over the u.s - mexico border. but -- border patrol has a high- flying tool to track them down. drug cartels are using homemade aircraft and drones to deliver marts over the u.s./mexico border to deliver narcotics. but the border patrol has a high-flying way to monitor them. chris martinez reports. >> reporter: one of the most powerful tools to protect the border is suspended high above the arizona desert. agents call it their eye in the sky. >> we fly as close to 24, 365 as we can. >> reporter: the weathered aerostat radar system or -- tethered aerostat radar system or tars monitors the border of mexico and the u.s. they can detect aircraft flying too low for conventional radar to see including drones and these homemade low-flying planes smugglers use to deliver drugs over the border. >> that's the control. >> yeah. this is how you steer.

>> reporter: agents say some aircraft are equipped with drop baskets to drop contraband inside the u.s. >> our law enforcement will engage and get the drugs, get the bad guys that are waiting for the drugs. >> reporter: the tars radar images are sent to this military base in california where detection officers watch for potential threats. >> i'm going to zoom in and my focus is going to be for what doesn't seem right in this area. >> reporter: once something is spotted, border patrol teams can be in the air within three minutes. >> mexico's northern motion border here. >> reporter: agents say smugglers often risk flying dangerously low to deliver their drugs. >> how close some of them fly to the mountains. >> yes. they'll hug the mountains really close just to try to break up their profile. >> reporter: if a smuggler makes it over the border, agents say the tars technology helps track down the drugs before it gets into the wrong

[ laughter ] >> this is our live weather camera looking out towards the bay bridge. see all these clouds? i'm going to show you where they are coming from. right now let's check the current conditions in the area. 64 right now in san francisco. it is such a beautiful autumn day here in the bay area. we're at 67 degrees in san jose. those clouds are here filtering in from a system to the south of us lifting up into the bay area and that right there is the potent area of low pressure that is so powerful. it's generating the high surf locally so that high surf advisory has been extended to 3 p.m. but it is a fantastic friday. we'll notice increasing clouds in the afternoon on saturday with rain overnight saturday night. we'll see rain in the north bay. we have monsoonal moisture to the south. we have that big area of low pressure to the north taking most of the energy into victoria, british columbia,well into the pacific pacific, as well. we are quiet under the huge dome of high pressure.

but that ridge starts to erode. watch our futurecast. here comes the clouds. we are okay through our evening commute. there's your saturday morning already cloudy from inverness back in through the sunset district. clouds thicken as the day progresses on your saturday. and they start to move towards our inland areas. here's the leading edge of rain associated with the area of low pressure. there's 2 a.m. sunday. light rain across the north bay, then it falls apart at the seams as it drifts to the south. did i mention 2:00? on sunday? that's when you set your clocks back one full hour as daylight saving time ends. it's a getaway friday. 81 in sacramento. 67 fresno. we started off the morning at 30 in tahoe. please keep on top of the mountain weather over the weekend. we could see some light snow on sunday morning. meanwhile, forecast highs today:0s across -- 70s across the board. sun goes down at 6:07. and then temperatures overnight 40s and 50s. there you have the extended forecast. we do have that slight rain overnight saturday through sunday morning.

it's time to vote yes on proposition 55. she joins us now to talk about "mast cell tumors" in pets. every friday we get tips on animal health from our pet expert dr. jill chase. she joins us now to talk about mass cell tumors in pets. >> i wanted to talk about them today because they start out looking very benign like just a little bump with no fur on it and i wanted to show dundee has one. look. his is kind of big. and inflamed. i don't know new guys can see this. here. move his head. >> a little hard to see but how big is it? >> this is about a centimeter. see there it is. and so it started out small. his it actually pretty aggressive growing really fast. the thing about mass cell tumors is they are either tend to be localized or they can be very aggressive. i think dundees might be more aggressive. the reason i wanted to talk

about them is again, they start out looking very innocuous. you think oh, it's a little bump. and it has no fur on it. but anytime if can say this if your dog has a mass have this checked out and they can take a needle and stick it into the mass and draw out cells and send it to the lab. it doesn't bother the animal do this. sometimes owners worry it will be painful. >> that the only way to treat it? >> so that's one of the ways we diagnose is. unfortunately, fine needle aspiration is not always accurate we have to biopsy it. with mass cell disease for a suspicious site that's aggressive we made have to do an ultrasound, liver, spleen, make sure there's no cells in the liver and surgery can be do. surgery is aggressive. we try to get at least three centimeters on either side. so any questions? >> no. >> okay. >> that's all the time we have.
