allegations. >> reporter: corrin has had a decade long career at the fremont school district first as a substitute teacher then going to american high school before landing here to washington high. >> won't be returning to the school district. >> reporter: the teacher no longer in class after allegations of 32-year-old had sex with a high school student. >> we were off last week when the teacher was arrested. we were first notified and having been working with the police ever scene. >> reporter: she taught swim at mission san jose high communicating with the alleged victim at the beginning of the year. the conversations became more inappropriate over time until they had sex according to police. the fremont district alerted the district today about audiat's arrest. >> the teachers are focused on

trying to bring normalcy back. >> reporter: she was paid to protect a student and is now out of a job. do you believe there are any more victims out there? >> based on the information we currently have from the police department, no there are not. >> police say they continue to investigate despite not having evidence that there are more alleged victims. they have counselors for students to want to talk. maria medina, kpix 5. developing now, a hazmat situation involving a patient in santa clara valley medical center in san jose. a fire department spokesman says an air-ambulance brought the patient up from hollister down in san benito county this morning. that patient was decontaminated before transport. upon arrival, hospital staff learned that she had been exposed to lead oxide. hazmat crews were called in to decontaminate her a second time. they say no other patients are in danger. the last of the inmates who

escaped santa clara county's main jail last week is knew in custody. rogelio chavez was arrested last night in south san jose after an eight-hour standoff at a home. investigators say he appeared to be under the influence and was found in possession of crack cocaine and marijuana. >> the investigation is ongoing and there may be additional arrests of people who harbored chavez during the time that he escaped. >> karla fernandez a friend of chavez who lived in the home was also arrested on charges that include being an accessory. chavez's capture came a day after the arrest of laron campbell in antioch. investigators say campbell and chavez were among four inmates who escaped last week. the other two were arrested shortly after the jail break. a high school football player is accused of sexual assault. kpix 5's andria borba with the alleged victim's message. >> reporter: i spoke exclusively to the girl.

she has a message for her attacker. >> the boys need to know that no means no. period. >> reporter: it was the night of november 18th when this 15- year-old carondelet high school school claims she was sexually assaulted on the campus of de la salle high school during a varsity football game. after the attack, allegedly at the hands of a 15-year-old freshman football player at de la salle, this teen girl didn't say anything for three days until friends pushed her to report the incident to school administrators. >> it was very hard. it was really, really hard. but i thank god that i have friends who actually care about me and want to make sure i was okay. [ voice disguised ] >> reporter: she still hadn't told her parents. >> it was hard. it was hard. it was harder than i thought it would be but we got through it. >> reporter: she says concord detectives also collected surveillance video from the de la salle campus that showed

parts of the alleged attack. the teenaged boy accused of attacking her was arrested. she refuses to let this one incident stop her from living her life. >> to be completely honest my school counselors have helped me a lot and my friends and just knowing, like, that in the long run, i'll be okay. i can't just let this stop me just because it's happened. i need to show him, no, i'm not going to stop. >> reporter: there's only a crosswalk that separates the de la salle campus from the carondelet campus and she says the gossip has been persistent between the two tight-knit schools. >> i was there and i know what happened. so i don't let it get to me. >> reporter: she has a message she wants the world to hear about sexual assault. >> it's not okay for this to happen to anyone. and it's not okay for, like, people around, like, society to make a person that's been hurt feel like they have done something wrong or feel ashamed

about the situation. >> reporter: the case will be handed from concord pd to the contra costa county district attorney's office. they will make the final determination if charges will be filed. in the newsroom, andria borba, kpix 5. this just in. an arrest in connection with the murder of a san francisco public work employee. investigators say jermaine jackson, jr., seen here and two other workers were painting over a mailbox at 25th and vermont streets when somebody drove by and opened fire. jackson a 27-year-old father of two was killed. a memorial now covers the paint that replaced the graffiti. san francisco police say a man is in custody. sheriff's investigators say they have arrested a man suspected in a deadly shooting in lake county. they say ezekiel bravo, jr., opened fire at a home in an indian colony this week. a woman was killed. another woman a man and 6-year- old girl were wounded. take a look at this mess. this is where the dumbarton

bridge in alameda a short while ago. according to the chp, a traffic accident sent diesel all over the road. you can see the tanker on the side. two eastbound lanes were blocked all morning but are now open. governor brown made his pick for the next state attorney general. he is nominating house democrat caucus becerra. he earned his degrees from stanford. if confirmed becerra would be the first latino attorney general an succeed kamala harris, who is elected to the u.s. senate last month. happening now, president- elect donald trump and vice president-elect mike pence are in indianapolis to tour an air- conditioning plant where they brokered an agreement to keep hundreds of jobs from moving overseas. they landed in indiana less than an hour ago. this is the first big win for the incoming white house team.

cbs reporter kenneth craig has details. >> reporter: president-elect donald trump delivered on a campaign promise to save manufacturing jobs at this carrier plant in indianapolis. >> someone who is not even yet president of the united states, able to negotiate something that was a major issue in the campaign. >> reporter: "fortune" magazine reports that president-elect donald trump personally called greg hayes the ceo of carrier's parent company, united technologies, and promised corporate tax break reductions that would far exceed the $65 million the company would have saved through outsourcing. >> it starts with an attitude, okay, of this administration, this president, this vice president-elect, okay, is going to have open communications with business leaders. >> reporter: mr. trump's deal with carrier also covers headquarters and engineering staff and the company says it will make new investments in the facility here. >> just last week, we was just sitting down like, what we

gonna do next year? >> reporter: erica's husband has worked at the plants for 15 years. she believes mr. trump's deal will help him make it to retirement in a couple of years. >> i didn't vote for him, but hey, i do support whatever he is doing right now because it's helping me and my family. >> reporter: united technologies gets 10% of the revenue from federal contracts. the company has not said if those contracts played a role in its decision to keep the jobs in america. kenneth craig, cbs news, indianapolis. a dramatic hostage rescue this morning during a florida bank robbery. an armored s.w.a.t. truck blocked the entrance to the bank in jacksonville. police say the robber entered the building and took 11 people hostage! two people hid from the suspect. they were able to make a break for it. that distracted the suspects and that gave s.w.a.t. officers a chance to get inside. the suspect was arrested and everybody was released unharmed. new at noon, the airline involved in a crash that killed 71 people including members of a brazilian soccer team have

and we have liftoff of the resupply vehicle beginning a two-day journey to the international space station. >> liftoff seemed to go okay but now the russian space agency says a malfunction caused this unmanned spacecraft to crash just minutes later. space officials started having trouble getting data from the progress cargo craft six minutes into flight. it was to bring 2.5 tons of supplies to the international space station. >> and since we're on the spacey theme, former astronaut and second man to walk on the moon buzz aldrin has been evacuated from the south pole! the national science foundation says the 86-year-old's health deteriorate while visiting the area as part of a tourist

tricky. a new survey by aaa found two out of three drivers don't trust auto repair shops in general. among those surveyed, 76% believe repair shops recommend unnecessary services and 73% believe mechanics overcharge for work. many drivers also worry the work won't be done correctly. >> but on the other hand, the study also found a majority of the drivers had found a trusted mechanic. so even though in general they don't trust repair services, repair shops, they did find a trusted mechanic. >> reporter: aaa survey found age is a factor in whether drivers trust repair shops. older drivers are more trusting than younger drivers. >> older drivers have had more experience with repairs and they have been taking vehicles to repair shops for a much longer time than younger drivers have. >> reporter: aaa suggests doing some research and asking for recommendations from family and friends before committing. >> i have a lot of friends calling and saying, is this a good price? or is this necessary? >> reporter: a quick call like

north bay and it's just glorious. the visibility is unlimited. the air quality is perfect. and boy, it's really refreshing outside after dropping all the way down to 34 degrees early this morning in santa rosa. it's 58. we were also 34 in livermore. it's now 55 degrees. it's a little crisp outside. the winds will be picking up later out of the northwest 10 to 20 miles per hour. weather watcher time from novato, vallejo, redwood city, and brentwood. we have reports from 51 to 62 degrees. here's what you need to know today. after a drippy wednesday, with heavy drizzle at times, sunny and dry today. mostly sunny and cool friday, cold frosty nice ahead. the coast is clearing out nicely. that's the departure of that weak disturbance from yesterday. the satellite and radar shows an area of low pressure well to the north of the bay area. this is our wind particle map and you can see the winds are diving down from the north then ejecting onshore. that's more of a northwest flow ushering in that cooler air mass. livermore has not hit 60 degrees in six whole days.

bond that holds us together. we have interesting new research to talk about. >> reporter: the 17-year-old cofounded this group burlingame cancer research in 2014. >> the t-cells -- >> reporter: it's 100 high school volunteers from the bay area and east coast share what they learned. alex understands. his grandmother has leukemia. >> if you have a loved one diagnosed with cancer even if you have a doctor it's natural to want to learn more. >> reporter: the first thing volunteers learn is what is cancer and how the immune system works. the teens read textbooks about cancer treatments, costs so they can educate patients. >> that's awesome. >> reporter: under alex's leadership volunteers also organize conferences, develop videogames and operate a separate website for finding clinical trials. >> it's all grade level. >> reporter: mike dunn the group's adviser at burlingame high says alex is advanced beyond his years. >> you can converse on a professional level, scientific level with people who, you

know, speak another language to the average person. >> reporter: to get an overview of real world research, biotech giant genentech recently invited some of the students to tour the plant where it tests molecules. the group and alex in particular impressed the principal scientist. >> he is a remarkable person and i want to get to know him better and maybe one day have him do an internship. >> reporter: the teenager has already had internships at ucsf and stanford. he and his fellow students never know how they will use their knowledge. when a family friend was diagnosed with cancer, a volunteer showed treatment information that brought peace of mind. >> the word cancer is so scary that without the tools and skills that it's given me i never would have been able to do that. >> reporter: thanks to alex many teens are learning another lesson. >> the high school student can really do anything they put their minds to. >> reporter: so for helping create a teen-based group that
