rain and wind creating dangs conditions around the bay a good evening, i'm juliette goodrich. i'm brian hackney. a live look outside over san francisco.. where the rain is on hold f now... but don't let the calm picte fool you. it was a mess on the roads today. "nats of chainsaws" crews spent four hours clearing a large tree than over onto highway 13 in piedmont. it was blocking all of the southbound lanes. the nearly 200- foot tree ce crashing down onto a car th afternoon. the only person inside... t driver... could not get outn his own. a good samaritan... and the c-h-p jumped in to help. officer daniel ramirez meza/chp oakland "we had to break some branches and miraculously, there was no injuries. the driver is tru blessed." (:08) the highway re- opened at a 6:30 this evening.

buzzsaw nats p g and e crews were also by in the north bay... after t fell onto power lines in saa rosa and sebastapol. some roads were blocked... e others were flooded... makit dangerous for drivers to get through. a section of the great highy in san francisco is closed e to flooding tonight. the road is shut down betwe lawton and judah. public works officials the'l wait for all that water to drain... and it could be days before section is back open. along the peninsula... wet s and possibly drunk driving y have been factors in a dead wreck. it happened early this morng on southbound 101 near highy 92 in san mateo. one person died and three os were hurt. a driver who survived... is under investigation tonight- for d-u-i. and in oakland: a couple of cars got into a nasty crash on eastbound 58 right before the highway 24 split. one came to rest facg the wrong way. no word on any injuries the.

search for a 60 year-old skr caught in an avalanche. it happened at an area call the jackpot chute at the mot rose ski resort. 1:52-2:09 this was a closeda and the skiers made a decisn wanted to ake a bad weather has forced crews to suspend a search for a 60-year-old skier caught in an avalanche. it happened at the mt. rose ski resort.>> this was a closed area. the skiers obviously made a decision that they wanted to make a run there. obviously it did not work out for the best. our function right now is to do everything we can to find this individual.>> the area was chained off in the skier did not have any backcountry gear. search and rescue will reassess in the morning and decide when to resume their efforts. much of the us has seen a blast of pre-winter weather.

oregon residents are recovering from freezing rain. there is snow in the midwest. six more inches forecast in some areas over the next few days. the storm is expected to reach new york on monday. 160 injured after coordinated explosions outside a soccer stadium in turkey. a tense moments after the attack. >> reporter: chaos and rapid gunfire erupted shortly after two -- explosions outside the vodafone stadium saturday. it happened hours after a match between turkey's top two soccer teams. officials believed a car bomb was detonated on a hill overlooking the stadium. plane shot high into the sky and windows on a bus used to carry right police to the stadium were blown out. a suicide bomber set off a second attack in an adjacent car. shrapnel littered the street as police investigated growth -- both crime scenes.
