an email to the vta around 10 a.m. this morning and planned to blow up one of the agency's vehicles. all vta vehicles were stopped and searched as a precaution. right now, alameda county sheriff's investigators are trying to solve a mysterious homicide case. a woman who was killed before her house was set on fire. deputies are on the scene on grove way in castro valley. maria medina joins us where she spoke with a neighbor of the victim. >> reporter: michelle, neighbors are of course in shock and as you can see behind me, investigators remain on scene here 32 hours after arriving. the question is, who did it and why? >> it just doesn't make any sense. it really doesn't make any sense. >> reporter: across the street for the last day and a half, scott parsons watched investigators take over his neighbor's home. >> my questions of course are why. >> reporter: yesterday, firefighters battling a blaze inside stumbled on the body of the widow who lived there for

decades. even after her husband passed away earlier this year. >> i hadn't really seen her since that time. i assume grieving. >> reporter: scott says the couple was friendly. and while he had not seen the widow since her husband died, he hadn't seen anything suspicious at the home leaving him and others on grove way wondering if it was a random act of violence. >> that's something that just makes it more horrible but also puts us in fear. >> reporter: whatever the case, investigators say the murderer set a fire in the attic on purposes to cover up any evidence and moved the body into the garage. her two adult children now left without their parents and so many questions. >> the family came and i guess that's where they got the news of, um, their mother's passing. because i saw their grief, it

was heart-wrenching. i'll never forget it. >> reporter: the identity of the 59-year-old victim hasn't been released yet. maria medina, kpix 5. other bay area headlines. firefighters worked all morning to knock down a four-alarm blaze in santa rosa. the fire broke out on wilson street around 2 a.m. according to the fire marshal, this was a warehouse used to store books and furniture. no injuries reported. and the cause of the fire is under investigation. a watsonville man is in custody, suspected on charges of burglary, auto theft and possession of an illegal firearm. justin har ra was arrested last night at a motel six in watsonville. he surrendered and admitted he had this gun in the room. harrah was not allowed to have a gun because of a court order. a final play for the paraders. the city of oakland and alameda county saying yes to a new plan but now the question is, will
