good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs news headquarters here in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. this morning an international manhunt is under way for a suspect in the berlin christmas market attack that killed 12 people. german officials say anis amri had been under surveillance six months this year. his request for asylum had been rejected and now $105,000 reaward offered for information leading to his arrest. brook silva-braga is here with more. >> reporter: the question of what to do with the hundreds of thousands of migrants flooding into germany has been one of the most contentious political interests in the country and one of those in the truck attack is one of the asylum seeker.

angry over monday's christmas market attack in berlin. this man called for merkel to resign, saying her open door refuge policy allowed anis amri into the country. german official say the man was seeking asylum when he entered germany from tunisia last year. after his application was rejected he evaded deportation. they found his papers in a wallet under the driver's seat of the truck. he was connected to this man accused to recruiting fighters for isis. isis said they inspired the berlin attack. they continue to mourn the victims. on wednesday, germany's foreign minister was joined by his italian counterpart laying roses at a memorial. these days, it feels incredibly good to know we are not alone in this sorrow, he said, that we can rely on friends in europe and the world.

back in the u.s. president-elect donald trump was asked if the attack led him to rethink his plans for a muslim registry or ban on muslim immigration. trump called the berlin violence an attack on humanity that has to stop. the brother of the suspect is now calling for amri to turn himself into police saying if he is involved, the family disassociates itself from him and the brother said the brother may have been radicalized while he was in prison in italy. >> brook silva-braga here in new york, thank you so much. the death toll from the train reaction explosion that tore through a mexican fireworks market now stands at 33. it's still unclear what caused the initial explosion, though, it is clear that vendors restori restoring fire crackers in the

university of southern california. >> when you're deploying 3,000-pound pieces of hardware that roll through the potential to cause injury or death that is a different issue. >> reporter: as to why that car ran the red light last week, uber says it was human error and if the company obtains a permit it will be required to report those incidents. uber is already testing its self-driving car in pittsburgh, where no permits are required. the company believes it's being unfairly singled out and compares its technology to the autopilot feature that is already on tesla cars and does not require a permit. carter evans, cbs news, studio city, california. well, north carolina did not repeal its controversial bathroom bill and socially conservatives are pleased. the state legislature met in a special session yesterday to repeal the law known as hb2. but a deal that called for the city of charlotte to do away with its anti-discrimination

good morning. >> good morning. here on wall street, trading volume is falling sharply. struggling health care companies pulled the markets down yesterday. the dow jones lost 32 points and s&p finished five points lower and the nasdaq lost 12 months. last month, home sales hit their highest level since february of 2007, up seven-tenths of a percent. the national association of realtors say that is up from a year ago. sales rose 8% in the northeast but fell in the west and midwest. there is concern that a shortage of inventory, higher prices and higher mortgage rates will pull down the market next year. ikea agrees to pay $50 million to settle a wrongful lawsuit over falling dressers. ikea will pay the money to the families of three children who were killed when the dressers tipped over. after the third child was killed, ikea announced it was recalling 29 million dressers. the world's largest
