courthouse in oakland with the new details. lisa. >> reporter: the arraignment for the two men charged with stabbing tyrone griffin to death at a target in hayward on christmas eve is scheduled for 2 p.m. now, according to the district attorney's criminal complaint it says griffin got into a verbal argument with frankie archuleta and his brother jesse. at some point it turned physical and during the physical altercation, the victim grabbed a bottle of wine off the shelf and hit frankie with it. the victim was then stabbed three times in the upper torso and arm. this all happened in front of griffin's 4-year-old son. both suspects left the scene on foot and were later found by police hiding behind a dumpster at a motel 6. as they were taken into custody by police, jesse stated he did it to defend himself. the suspect's sister showed up to the courthouse to support her brothers. >> my brothers are good men. they wouldn't attack somebody for no reason. i mean, i know people are going to judge by the way they look, by what they hear right away or what they see. my brothers are family men. they stay home and go to work.

they have their own children. they're not bad men. this wasn't a random attack and they would never attack nobody like this. i say that from the bottom of my heart. >> reporter: the victim's wife said she plans to be here for every court hearing. she doesn't believe her husband started the fight. >> my processor are good men. they wouldn't attack -- my brothers are good men. they wouldn't attack somebody for no reason -- [ wrong audio ] >> reporter: the video she is referring to the surveillance video from the target store. investigators are reviewing it and talking to witnesses. both suspects are in their 20 ease and will be in court at 2 p.m. to face murder charges. is live in oakland, lisa chan, kpix 5. the search is on for two hoax suspects who shot at their -- hopes home invasion suspects

who shot at their victim in san jose. maria medina reports. >> reporter: police say the victims and the suspects did not know each other. neighbors say this is where the home invasion happened. police say two men forced their way in they exchanged words with the victims before they shot them and then took off. one plan says he knows the victim. >> a couple people tried to break in there and they had guns and they shot my stepson and his friend each in the leg. >> reporter: the two victims were taken to regional medical center. they are expected to be okay. but police have not released motive or suspect description. in san jose, maria medina, kpix 5. police are looking for clues in two deadly shootings in oakland that happened just hours apart last night. first at about 4:5 p.m. a woman -- 5:45 a woman was shot and killed on the 900 block of 21st street. then at 9:25 p.m., a 22-year- old man was shot on 62nd street

near golden gate playground. no arrests have been made in either case. solano county prosecutors are dropping dui charges against a man because of an unusual drug test. police say that joseph schwab was weaving in and out of traffic on it state 680 near fairfield last year when his blood tests came back negative for every drug except caffeine. the d.a. believes he had drugs in his system and didn't show up on the test but after speaking with forensic toxicologists yesterday, she said that she felt that the dui charges had to be dropped. >> we wish we could test for more drugs because then we would know what was in the system. >> when you tell this type of story to somebody, they naturally won't believe it. >> schwab is charged with reckless driving a misdemeanor. new at noon the obama administration just ordered sanctions against russia for hacking democratic computers during the presidential election. the u.s. says it will kick out

35 russian intelligence operatives and close two russian "compounds" here in the u.s. craig boswell has more from washington. >> reporter: officials tell cbs news there will be sanctions targeting leaders in russia's intelligence agency who u.s. officials believe were behind the hacks aimed at helping president-elect donald trump and that the hacks were carried out with the blessing of president vladimir putin. before leaving for vacation, president barack obama hind that sanctions may be just -- hinted that sanctions may be just part of the u.s. response. >> our goal continues to be to send a clear message to russia or others not to do this to us because we can do stuff to you. >> reporter: any sanctions the obama administration imposes can be undone with the stroke of a pen as soon as president- elect donald trump takes office. and he has been skeptical of u.s. intelligence claims that the russians were behind the hacks. during a visit with boxing promoter don king last night, the president-elect spoke on the issue. >> i think we ought to get on

with our lives. i think the computers are complicating lives. the whole, you know, age of computer has made it where nobody knows exactly what's going on. >> reporter: but even if president trump repeals the sanctions, congress can take action on its own. >> you can expect that the congress will investigate the russian involvement in our elections and i predict there will be sanctions coming that will hit russia hard particularly putin as an individual. >> reporter: president-elect trump says he expects to talk with congressional leaders about alleged russianing hacking in the future. craig boswell, cbs news, the white house. >> we learned some of the russian diplomats that will be kicked out are stationed here in san francisco. russia has threatened to retaliate against any new sanctions from the obama administration. last night donald trump told the press that because of him, sprint and a new company one web will soon add a total of 8,000 u.s. based jobs. hours later he faced questions

regarding whether this job announcement was new news. [ inaudible ] >> earlier this month, president-elect donald trump touted a deal with the ceo of softbank sprint's largest shareholder and a recent investor in one web to create 50,000 new jobs. the companies confirm that the jobs referenced by the president-elect are included in the previously announced 50,000 new jobs pledge. president-elect trump will take the oath of office on january 20. in the meantime, he has been using social media to express his opinions on the current president's policies. cbs reporter jan crawford on how he is breaking from tradition in the way he addresses the country. >> reporter: from his florida estate, donald trump 140- character proclamations reverberate in capitals around the world. a flurry of tweets that promise changes to middle east policy when he takes office in january.

ell, today's tip of the day is going to be is shallots. i use them in so many different recipes. if i don't have like garlic or onions, what's right in between, what lends itself to

all different recipes is shallots. selection and storage is very important. when you buy them, make sure there's beautiful colors like this all the way. free from any sprouting whatsoever. then you want to be sure they are nice and firm to the touch. it has to be like garlic. if it breaks apart and feels like there's powder inside there it's been stored for too long. cool, dry place not the refrigerator. shallots are good, use a little or a lot depending on the recipe but it's hard to overpower with the shallots like the garlic. shallots in the market year round for all the holiday cooking coming up. you'll love them. here. >> yeah. this is --i have a lot more back in the back and everywhere else. >> reporter: but all the pots, pans and cutting boards serve him well because for 20 years he has been cooking. >> people say can you cook for this? can you cook for that? so i do. >> reporter: he never charges a dime. when he volunteers to cook each events just pays for the food and supplies. it began in 1995 when lowell volunteered to cook for a boy scout jamboree. then he built a mobile kitchen using equipment he salvaged through his demolition business. >> this is the griddle. >> i have a kitchen sink here. stainless steel. we can set up if you really want. >> reporter: the more he used the kitchen, and a barbecue he built, the more word got out. >> next year i got a call from a person who calls me up you were there last year? >> i said yeah. can you do it again? yeah, i can can do it. now i'm kind of on a list. every year they go next person in charge of this breck far, oh, this is a guy you need to call.

>> reporter: this is lowell's smoker and barbecue in action here. look at the tri-tip in here? >> he has served up so many meals when you combine that with a pancake breakfast he has done, you try to total up the number of people he has fed? there's no telling. >> i got the equipment to do it. that makes a big difference. that helps. but it's hard cooking for 600 people at one time. i just have a knack for it, i guess. >> it would be fun to watch him work. [ laughter ] >> reporter: ken hatch has known lowell hoxie for years. without him? >> i think then they would have to rely to some of those commercial catering places to do that job and then it would cost money. he doesn't charge. >> reporter: this tri-tip event is a fundraiser for sunol glen school. >> sure we would have to come up with something else, something simpler that probably wouldn't be as profitable because people come from all over to get his tri-tip. >> reporter: how long will lowell keep at it? >> gets a little tiring after a while but as long as i'm able to do it physically, i'll just keep doing it. >> reporter: so for giving his time and culinary skill all for
