going through the swearing-in ceremony. the next time hail to the chief is played right here on capitol hill, mr. trump will be the 45th president of the united states. the president-elect did not attend the dress rehearsal. he spent his last week for the inauguration in new york city at his home in trump tower. it was a quiet week with no scheduled meetings. >> reporter: there preparing for the ceremony. portable toilets stand ready for the crowd of thousands. there is a rule of no advertising on capitol hill. protest groups vowed to disrupt the ceremony. more demonstrations were held on sunday. 70 rallies nationwide to protest the republican plans to repeal obama care. it was organized by senator bernie sanders.

>> republicans, you are not going to destroy the affordable care act. >> reporter: more than 20 house democrats including john lewis said they will skip the inauguration. some are angry with mr. trump's tweet to mr. lewis on saturday saying that the congressman should spend more time in his district. this follows a comment by mr. lewis that mr. trump was not a legitimate president. mr. trump spend the day behind closed doors preparing for the inauguration. we will have the live report starting on thursday. recent storms left at blakey -- gaping hole on edge avenue near highway one -- 1. a sinkhole 14 feet wide and 15 feet deep. the whole first appeared a few months ago, but it has tripled in size now. it may be the result of a leak from a pipe that comes from a creek.
