get her a visa. she finally has the visa but last week the executive order banned her from coming to the united states and then the federal judge who allowed people like her to come by blocking the ban and she reunited with her family today. it was an emotional reunion. tears. there were hugs. just over joyed family reuniting after four years of being separated. she is finally back home tonight with her siblings and her parents. the father flew out to get his daughter, bring her back home and he had this to say about president trump's executive order. take a listen. >> whatever they did, that is not fair. i mean -- [ indiscernible ]

>> some people are bad, that doesn't make everybody bad. >> reporter: what was that like -- [ inaudible question ] [ indiscernible ] >> all right. >> reporter: you can imagine how emotional it has been for the family. they have been in legal limbo for a week trying to figure out if they could get her to the united states. she had one day to get here before any other ruling comes down possibly reinstating the ban. she is a u.s. citizen now. because her parents are u.s. citizens she too now is a u.s. citizen. back to you. >> what is next for the family? >> reporter: well, she -- she will be driving back home with her family. she hasn't seen her mother yet. she is at home. but tonight she will reunite with her mother as well. >> thank you for that story.

rafael even though voters approved it to go to the larksburg ferry. >> if they pay for it we should be able to go for it. >> reporter: just last year smart secured funding to construct new tracks to larksburg and service could begin next year. but recently the city of san rafael sent smart a letter. >> requesting that the extension be held. >> the mayor says smart plans to extend the two tracks through the current bus transit center. he says they will take up so much space that larger buses won't fit into -- won't fit into the facility anymore. >> they will have to occupy the streets. >> reporter: a new center will have to be built and that could take 5 years to construct. he is asking smart to postpone the plans till then.

an avalanche in parts of afghanistan and pakistan.. this is . dozens of people are dead after heavy snow fall set off an avalanche in afghanistan and pakistan. this is video from afghanistan. snow covering the town. rescuers are having difficulty reaching the peep trapped. -- people trapped. many freeze death. the airport is also shut down because of icy conditions. and? and fog -- snow and fog caused this pile up. drivers lost sight of the road. 15 people were hurt. among them two people who were trapped for an hour before crews could get to them. and a sink hole that swallowed radioactive water in florida is now getting filled. been six months since it opened up. 30 miles east of tampa. residents worry their wells might have been contaminated by

the toxic water. >> i don't drink the water. i don't cook with the water. i use bottled water all together. i shower in the water and i will probably start to glow one day. >> the state did order them to keep testing the wells every quarter this year and twice in 2018. speaking of water, we learned the state is about to issue a health warning. certain fish in the russian river are not safe to eat. we investigated an abandon mercury mine and found out toxic dirt has been washing into a creek that feeds into the russian river but there are no warning signs post. we wanted to know why. >> reporter: after a surge of recent storms the russian river took center stage. the rising water flooding the town of guerneville.

we saw it first hand. rescue crews taking us out on the river just as it was about to crest. the water has since receded but there is a different dodger in the water. the -- danger in the water. one of the largest mines in california, closed in the 1970s, after operating for a century. the mine owners are long gone but piles of dirt and rock remain. they board arcreek that -- bord arcreek that goes into -- boarder a creek that goes into the russian river. they conducted mercury tests in the area for the first times. >> four times the level of hazardous waste. >> reporter: four times the level and the board discovered some of the mercury was going directly into the creek. and now we have learned the

learned the office tested fish in the russian river because of potential mercury and fish contamination. those tests conducted two years ago and we obtained the results just now released. the results state the fish at all five locations are accumulating mercury within their tissue and a finish consumption guideline for the russian river will likely be developed for the russian riv. it will lead to a mercury advisory in the russian river by the end of the summer but that comes two years after the fish were sampled. he is with the russian river keeper and wants to know what is the hold up. >> what we would love to see is the public being alerted right

away. >> reporter: but they say it is not slated to complete the advisory till fiscal year 2017, 2018. the reason they say because the state is still developing warnings for other water ways in the state. they declined our request for an interview. and till the warnings are finally posted, they will be doing their own warnings by word of mouth. >> women who are pregnant and small children should not eat bass in the russian river. they are fun oo fish for, fun to catch but don't eat them them . >> reporter: we requested an interview to find out why the warning process takes so long but they declined our request . >> are you saying that they are trying to figure out how to word the warning? >> i think it is the warning and where they will post it, how much -- how far it stretches -- [ talking at the same time ] >> the end of the summer to

not unusual to hear about doctors saving lives but you don't always hear about doctors saving each other. what a southern california doctor -- when a southern california doctor needed a new kidney he didn't have to look further than his own operating room. >> how are you feeling? >> good. >> reporter: there is something special about this story. it is perhaps the first of its kind. >> hurting when you sit down? >> a little. >> reporter: the living donor -- >> i did have a discussion -- >> reporter: gave her kidney to brian. >> better work. not going to do all this work and have it not work. >> reporter: both are physicians in new port beach. both in the business of saving lives. >> feel goods to be walking.

>> reporter: as word spread that his kidneys were failing, including a kidney donated 20 years ago by his mother. >> mom, back here. >> reporter: his colleague who shares the operating room with, gave a life saving gift. >> i truly believe if i as a surgeon and physician couldn't do this, after having -- [ indiscernible ] -- how could i ask other people to give of themselves. >> the burden of dialysis is now just a memory. >> i am not good at saying please, help me but she made it easy and it was really special. >> reporter: she went home tuesday, a day after the surgery. >> i will make it a point to go in and see how she is doing.
