westminster crowns a new queen. >> the german shepherd that return aides allegedly had repeated contact with russian officials during the campaign. hannah daniels is here in new york. >> president trump meets face-to-face with israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu at the white house today, it's their first meeting since his inauguration. the high profile foreign visit comes amid yet another damning report focusing on mr. trump and

russia. >> the bombshell report published in the "new york times" tuesday cites four current and former american officials with direct knowledge of the fbi's classified probe into russia's meddling in the 2016 election. the unnamed officials say federal agents are sifting through a trove of intercepted communications showing members of the president's campaign and other trump associates had repeated contacts with senior russian intelligence officials in the year before the election. among them, paul manafort who served as mr. trump's campaign chairman for several months. >> there's nothing that would conclude me anything different has changed with respect to that time period. >> white house press secretary sean spicer denied any pre election contact tuesday amid a barrage of questions over michael flynn's abrupt resignation as national security adviser. the former lieutenant general was ousted monday night over conversations with the russian ambassador back in december about u.s. sanctions. >> the white house counsel reviewed and determined there is

not an illegal issue but rather a trust issue. >> that decision came at least three weeks after the fbi and the justice department notified the white house. flynn may have lied about the sg all along. >> if there was any emergency at this moment in the history of this country this is the moment. >> the president is expected to name a new national security adviser by the end of the week. >> officials also tell "the new york times" they have yet to see any evidence the trump campaign excluded with russia to impact the outcome of the election. anne marie. >> hannah daniels, thank you so much. ahead on "cbs this morning," we will talk to cbs news political director john dickerson about the fallout from flynn's conversations with the russian ambassador. and this morning north korea said it rejects the u.n. security council letter denouncing i he was headed to his home in

mack could you, but who killed him remains a mystery. >> according to south korean media kim jong-nam was attacked by two female assassins with poison needless at a malaysian airports. there were reports that the estranged half-brother had a cloth sprayed with a chemical shoved on his face. malaysia police kim jong-nam was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. there was no comment from media. since taking power north korea's leader kim jong-un has executed several of his inner circle

including his uncle. anyone who threatened his authority. the murder comes just days after north korea launched its most sophisticated ballistic missile yet. you can see the white burn in this video from state television which indicates the use of solid fuel. that's important because solid fuel rather than liquid can dramatically decrease the warning time needed before firing. adrianna diaz, cbs news. the office of government ethics is urging the white house to investigate kellyanne conway, counselor to president trump. the issue is comments she made about ivanka trump's fashion line during a february 9th interview urging viewers to go buy ivanka's is it you have. >> it's a wonderful line. i'm going to give a free commercial. go buy it, everybody, you can find it online. >> her comments came after the line was dropped by nordstrom. the office of government ethics

says that appears to be a clear violation of the prohibition against misuse of permission. the latest victim of chicago's gun violence is a two-year-old toddler. video of the attack is being streamed on facebook live by a woman who was also in that car. a warning now the video is disturbing. [ gunshots ] >> police say the attack was gang related and that white's uncle who was driving the car was th i just hope that our legislative partners are sick of it. >> saturday night two girls ages 11 and 12 were also shot.

one died and one remains on life support. recovery efforts are under way in the houston area after a string of at least six tornadoes plowed through. the storms hit beginning yesterday morning. at least six people were injured and dozens of homes damaged. >> i was texting my husband and my brother just like it's hitting us because i was so afraid nobody would find us. >> some 25,000 customers lost power. the nearly 200,000 northern california residents forced to evacuate because of trouble at the oroville dam are back home but more rain is expected tomorrow. even though repairs have been made to the dam and water levels in the lake have dropped residents have been told to stay on alert. chris martinez reports. >> reporter: residents near california's troubled oroville dam were relieved to be allowed home tuesday. >> nice to be back in the neighborhood. >> reporter: officials are confident they've sufficiently reduced the lake level behind the dam.

though the evacuation order is lifted it comes with a warning. >> they have to be vigilant. they have to pay attention what's going on and there is the prospect that we could issue another evacuation order if the circumstances change the risk increases. >> reporter: they hope the lake level falls 50 feet before more heavy rain moves into the area this week. last week the main spillway started showing signs of stress, concrete gave way opening a massive hole the size of a football field. the emergency backup was opened but that spillway is also badly eroded. 125 construction crews have been working around the clock to repair the damage. >> this is an aggressive, you know, proactive attack to address the erosion concerns. >> reporter: two helicopters are transporting concrete slabs and bags of gravel over to dump trucks. about 40 truckloads per hour are being driven down to the

spillway. chris martinez, cbs news, oroville, california. it's reported that harrison ford had a close call with a commercial airliner while landing in california. ford reportedly was told on monday to land his single engine plane on a runway at john wayne airport but the plane landed on a parallel taxi wei-yin stead passing right over an american airlines 737 waiting to take off. ford is an accomplished pilot and he collects vintage planes. he was seriously injured you might remember in 2015 when he lost power on takeoff and crashed on a golf course. the faa is investigating this latest incident. coming up on the morning news, frozen lake rescue caught on video. rescuers jump into action to save a girl. and from convict to couture, a famous felon walks on the catwalk. this is the cbs morning news. no matter who you are, a heart attack can happen without warning.

inflation. the dow rose 92 points. president trump signed legislation ending a rule requiring oil and gas companies to disclose payments to foreign governments for commercial development. the president says it's part of his effort to bring energy jobs back to the country. the finn-ish company that owens the rights for nokia could be going old school. hmd global is planning to release a modern android version of the nokia 3310 that is according to venture beat. it will likely cost $62 and be targeted at european consumers. the 3310 was originally launched in 2000 and allowed users to text to friends while on the move. and starbucks plans to start testing drinks that mix coffee and ice cream. so they will use a variety of hot and cold coffee and they will be tested at 100 stores in california.

hair loss has seemed an unavoidable side effect of chemotherapy but two new studies give hope to breast cancer patients. barry petersen reports. >> reporter: for up to five hours during chemotherapy this cooling cap pumps a freezing coolant into a helmet surrounding tammy's scalp, the key mow she has been undergoing to fight her breast cancer for several weeks. >> how does it feel on your head? it's cold. >> yes, the first 10, 15 minutes when it's cooling down feels similar to a frost bitten hand or ice cream head, kind of feels like both of those maybe times

five. >> today's study focused on women with breast cancer and whether using cooling caps can prevent hair loss. one study found half the women who got scalp cooling kept 50% to their hair compared to no women keeping their hair in the group without the cap. the second study found two-thirds of the women who had scalp cooling retained their hair. chemotherapy works by targeting all rapidly dividing cells in the body like hair, the cooling cap works by lowering the temperature of the scalp by a few degrees during keep co and reduces the blood flow to hair fog calls which may prevent or minimize the hair loss. richardson had breast cancer once before and lost her hair, all the more reason to make this time different. >> i would go to the grocery store and people that i knew would kind of run away. they didn't know what to say. >> so if you have your hair the reality is people just don't know? >> yeah, they don't.
