time in more than a decade in morgan hill. jackie ward says people in the area are amazed and concerned. she is there live. >> reporter: hey, brian. so this outlet has been open for weeks. but today, it was a tourist destination. hundreds of people were coming to take pictures and videos of what's happening here at the anderson reservoir. and to be honest, this isn't that bad. it could be bad. so everyone is just waiting to see what happens. >> reporter: for people who live in the morgan hill area, this is something incredible. >> i fished this lake for years and years and you hardly ever see it like this. and it's just a good sight to see. >> i lived here most of my life and i have never seen the levels of water being so high. hopefully it will hold in an earthquake. >> reporter: the anderson reservoir water level has surpassed capacity and is currently 6" above the rim of the spillway. this before even more storms are expected to bring a lot of

water to this area. >> that big storm is going to make its way to coyote creek and other creeks, as well. so there's a flood risk. >> reporter: marty grimes of the santa clara valley water district says there's nothing they can do. >> we have many plays vulnerable to flood -- places vulnerable to flooding and you can't do anything about it. >> reporter: pumping out 400 cubic feet of water per second is one of the only things they can do to keep the level low. >> it shows that mother nature has a lot of surprises and we should be pred to go from drought to flood, from flood to drought. >> reporter: so today there's not a lot of people who live in this area that they can do anything except have sandbags ready and move to higher ground. in morgan hill, jackie ward, kpix 5. about the best looking live shot location. thanks, jackie. >> falling trees caused a water main break in a flooded

historic cemetery in sonoma. three large oak trees came down at the valley cemetery. that led to a water main break that inundated much of the cemetery grounds this morning and then it took more than an hour to shut off the water. small rivers formed between two neighboring houses. but sandbags kept the water from getting into those homes. and along the coast a mudslide is blocking part of highway 1 in pacifica this evening. the southbound lanes are shut down at linda mar boulevard. the slide early this morning caused a tree to fall across the entire highway. but that tree is already cleared. >> water, water, everywhere and now we're on the brink of another storm that will be moving into the bay area by tomorrow. some light rain even though you wouldn't know it to look at ocean beach right now. hi-def doppler doesn't show much but already, there are flood watches posted for what will be developing tomorrow and tomorrow night, flood watches posted with the threat yet again of heavy rainfall coming, river flooding possible, gusty winds up to 40 miles per hour.

and mudslides and debris flows in the offing and winter storm watches posted in the mountains for as much as 4 feet of new snow from yosemite south. all being ushered along by low pressure that conveyor belt- like will be bringing all of that moisture into the west coast with the gusty winds and as much as 4 inches of rain by the time it's done monday night. so light rain early on sunday. the winds will pick up. heavy and steadier rain will be developing on sunday with flooding potential returning as rain continues through monday afternoon. we'll have the complete details in the forecast coming up. and southern california is dealing with the aftermath of a deadly storm that's dumped more rain in 24 hours than the region has seen in years. flash flooding, mudslides and downed power lines are blamed for at least four deaths. reporter danielle nottingham looks at the damage left behind. reporter: this was the scene around southern california saturday. uprooted trees piled on cars and buildings, and muddy fields

and highways. a man was electrocuted in this l.a. neighborhood when a tree fell on a power line and came crashing down. >> mother nature came to strike. >> reporter: the storm packing winds of up to 80 miles per hour began early friday quickly turning parking garages into waterfalls. water rushing from the mountains triggered mudslides. the drenching rains were too much for the roads to handle. this 20-foot sinkhole swallowed two cars. >> there goes the car! there it goes! >> reporter: the driver was rescued before the second car fell in the massive hole. flooded highways trapped drivers in rising waters. this man climbed through a window to escape. another waited on the roof of his car for help. the driver in the car behind him was drowned. and air travel was at a standstill. the santa barbara airport was completely flooded. the storm forced hundreds of flight delays and cancellations through saturday. danielle nottingham, cbs news, los angeles. right now major flooding in a small town in northern

california is forcing people from their homes. the town of maxwell is located near interstate 5 in colusa county. about 70 miles north of sacramento. rising water levels from nearby creeks have left the town completely under water. roads disappeared, homes submerged in the flood. it all began early this morning following yesterday's storm. and it's been creating a mess for drivers. several lanes of i-5 are shut down in both directions. the red cross working on setting up evacuation centers and an update from lake oroville where damage to two spillways led to a big evacuation as now. the lake level though has now dropped more than 45 feet from the point where it was overflowing a week ago. state officials keep reducing the flow on the main spillway. repairs continue on the emergency spillway, which was in danger of failing. a state assemblyman now wants to require annual physical inspections on all auxilliary spillways what the state

managed dams. authorities investigating a murder in marin this evening. human remains on flat form bridge road near point reyes station last night. the road is along the lagunitas creek. the sheriff's office is treating the death as a homicide. no information has been released about how the person died. fbi is also assisting. the road was closed to search for evidence and remove the remains. it is now open again. president trump is holding a campaign style event rallying huge crowds in florida just a little while ago. >> we have taken historic action to secure the southern border and i have ordered the construction of a great border wall which will start very shortly [ applause and cheers ] >> white house officials say the event is a way for the president to look past the media and speak directly to the people. cbs correspondent kenneth craig caught up with supporters and protestors. ♪[ music ] reporter: president donald trump was back in his comfort zone rallying supporters at an

airport hangar this time in melbourne, florida. >> i hear your demands. i hear your voices. and i promise you i will deliver. >> reporter: president trump was quick to defend his first month in office as he ramped up his attack on the media. >> the dishonest media which has published one false story after another -- >> right! boo! >> -- with no sources, even though they pretend they have them, they make 'em up in many cases. >> reporter: thousands of president trump's supporters waited in the blazing sun for hours to attend the rally. gene huber was first in line at 4:00 this morning. >> he made all these promises to us. and he is doing every, single promise that he mentioned. and that's the one thing that i have always believed with president trump. what he says is going to happen. this is not the first time the president has rallied here at this airport. >> reporter: thousands of the supporters also showed up in september in a county and state that helped him secure the

[ laughter ] >> reporter: pelosi and house democrats froms across the country organized a national day of action today to try to save the affordable care act. or obamacare. >> to make america healthy instead of make america sick again. >> reporter: they are asking voters to convince republican lawmakers to block the repeal. >> you have to talk to your friends in republican districts to tell them to call their member of congress. >> reporter: democrats don't have the numbers in the house and senate to stop the repeal. >> it won't take that much that

assisted living facility in texas. she was 69. it's a chilling warning from bill gates. the microsoft cofounder says it's time to prepare for bioterrorism! gates spoke at a security conference in munich earlier today and said the threat of terrorists using biological weapons is just as serious as climate change or nuclear conflict. gates is urging world leaders to set aside more money to prepare for that possibility. tomorrow spacex will try once again to launch a load of supplies to the international space station. the rocket was on the launch pad in florida this morning when the mission was scrubbed just seconds before liftoff. spacex says there is a steering issue with the rocket. the spacecraft is packed with more than 5,000 pounds of cargo and experiments. today neither the threat of rain nor the chilly san francisco bay water kept hundreds from taking a plunge including the city's new police chief. it is the fifth annual dash and splash that started off with a three or five k run and then participants took part in the

polar plunge and if you look closely, you can see san francisco police chief william scott jumping in as well as a couple of 49er players wearing red shirts. this event raises thousands of dollars and awareness for the special olympics in northern california and nevada. >> and our goal is to generate about $260,000 which covers the cost of providing services for about 1,000 athletes. >> i have done that before. it's fun. >> doesn't surprise me. [ laughter ] >> some participants noticed the water was a bit more burkey -- murky that is and burkey and brown. we have another storm probably the most powerful of what we have seen in the last week headed to the bay area. it starts tomorrow, winds up sunday night. wouldn't know it by looking at the golden gate bridge with mostly clear skies and numbers in the low to mid-50s. 56 in concord, 52 in san francisco. santa rosa has 53 degrees. and there's not much lighting up the hi-def doppler either. but you look from high atop the west coast and low pressure approaching the pacific northwest is going to convey all of that moisture once again a subtropical tap right towards central california so while los angeles got hit good yesterday, the stream of that moisture now is going to be moving a little more to the north. it's not as strong a storm that hits southern california but i think it will do plenty in terms of raising the levels on the rivers by tomorrow morning at 7:00, there's just the chance of a few light showers. futurecast shows us what should be happening. as the day goes on by 4 p.m., more widespread light rain. it continues right through

monday into the morning commute. this swath of moisture centered on the bay area from santa rosa to the north to morgan hill in the south. and it just continues to rain for much of the day on monday. until we go to scattered showers by tuesday. this futurecast shows us how much rain we should be getting between now and tuesday morning and now something weird is happening if concord has more rain than redwood city or santa rosa. the center of the rain will be on top of the bay area and we'll be talking inches rather than tents. high wind alerts posted for gusts out of the southeast 35 miles an hour. this begins tomorrow night. tomorrow night and monday, the rain will return later tomorrow after some light rain during the day. it will remain wet and windy through monday night. and there is flooding potential for monday and tuesday with a delayed effect. the rivers will be peaking on tuesday. overnight lows tonight mostly in the mid-40s. light rain develops tomorrow morning highs in the mid- to
