new details on the victims rundown mardi gras and the suspect who plowed through crowds in new orleans. good evening. >> celebrations in new orleans took a horrible turn tonight. police say a drunk driver plowed into mardi gras played -- parade watchers. 28 people were hurt and we just learned 5 people are in critical condition. but they all are expected to survive. it happened while the streets were packed with people watching the colorful floats. suddenly one witness says a pickup sped by missing her by inches. >> i got scared. >> we suspect the subject was

intoxicated. he is in custody. he's being investigated. >> among the victims are a police officer and a toddler. investigators say at this point there are no signs of terrorism playing a role,. raking news out of antioch. all lanes on the eastbound side of highway 4 are closed because the police activity. it's west of the hillcrest avenue exit. all traffic being diverted off. chp says driver should expect delays and there is no word on when the lanes will open up. new numbers from the flooding disaster in san jose. 140 families showed up for the opening of an assistant center. 1300 households are still under mandatory evacuation. the one remaining shelter will move tomorrow. thousands of people are just getting started on the cleanup. we caught up with families

trying to salvage anything they can. >> reporter: in san jose's rocksprings neighborhood the cleanup work has to end it sundown because homes and apartments do not have power. it's one more problem residents are being forced to deal with. near the corner of welch and northdale the cherry blossoms give weight to the devastation from the flood. be on the caution tape people with paper masks try to gather what survived coyote creek's wrath. piles of valued possessions stacked on the sidewalks is molding garbage. the streets are closed traffic. -- to traffic. what can be salvaged has to be hauled out on foot. >> we have no insurance. >> cars with muds -- mud caked to the roof. >> the city is cleaning the streets. they are not helping us take everything out.

new national chairman saturday which they hope will turn opposition against trump into election victories. it took hundreds of activists and leaders 2 rounds of voting to pick tom perez as chair. he worked as labor secretary under obama. >> i know we can win the battles ahead. i know we will. when we put our values forward, may lead together. >> >> reporter: trump had lunch with scott walker at the white house following his speech friday to the conservative legal action conference. >> a few days ago i called the fake news the enemy of the people. and they are. they are the enemy of the people. >> reporter: the white house later blocked several news outlets from attending an off- camera press briefing. carolyn maloney says the exclusions outraged her. she spoke outside the new york times building. >> we find it alarming and that it violates the first amendment which protects us freedom.

tried to free him. the officer pulled his weapon from his waistband and fired. he says he thought the team had a gun, no one was hit. the community is upset the team has been charged and not the officer. police tried to track down a man they say tried to rob a pharmacy. it happened about 10 pm at a right aid in fairmont shopping center near skyline. surveillance image shows the suspect wearing a black baseball cap police say he jumped over a counter, brandished a gun and demanded prescription drugs. a pharmacist managed to distract him and ran out of the store. a man was last seen heading west toward gateway drive. outrage and disgust in southern california the has been happening for decades. city officials confirmed the source and scope of a massive sewage spill. or than 140 million gallons of raw sewage spilled into the tijuana river in mexico and flowed up north of the border. it was tied to work on the sewage collect didn't pipe and started aching -- leaking

new at 11, the last underground jazz club in oakland is getting ready to close its doors forever. when the final jam session will take place. tonight the social club is singing the blues. the underground club will shut its doors monday after 3 years at this location. >> it was hard to pay the bills when we were used to a garage with overhead. >> he started the club in a garage in berkeley in 2010. we had free bands, booze and food. >> his goal was to attract underground and up-and-coming artists can give them a place to stay. -- a place to play. >> people coming to play together no matter what. >> we ran these underground jazz and blues hardee's for 5
