car in st. petersburg as well as one other suspect. terry okita reports that they are looking at the possibility that this was a terrorist attack. >> reporter: videos of mangled metro cars and victims laying on a st. petersburg subway platform were posted on facebook. smoke filled the corridors as passengers ran to safety. authorities evacuated several subway stations before shutting the metro system down completely. dozens of emergency workers treated victims at the scene and rushed others to the hospital. russian president vladimir putin was in st. petersburg. russia's second largest city on monday with a meeting. he expressed condolences to the victims. authorities are still investigates what caused the blast. this isn't the first time there has been an explosion on russia's subway system.

in 2010 38 people were killed in moscow when two female suicide bombers detonated devices on packed trains. russia has been on high alert for terrorist activity. terry okita cbs news london. >> security will be tightened at all critical transportation sites in light of that attack. a mess left behind at a popular san francisco park. trash and liquor bottles all over the park after a busy weekend there, and it's not the first time. jackie ward shows us people that live near the park are losing patience. >> reporter: it's another monday morning which means rec and parks crews are back out here in dolores park cleaning up a ton of trash left from people over the weekend. people that live around here are fed up. dolores park is an extremely

popular place to hang out on the weekend. especially on 70-degree days. but come monday morning. >> usually come out and there is couches and chairs and a pretty good mess out here for the city to clean up. >> so much of the food and i see all the dogs running around. they get cut with the bottle caps that get left around and there is glass. >> reporter: people that use this park during the week are tired of seeing the same thing to start nearly every week. recs and park crews were back out here early cleaning up the garbage. only to have it turned back into a dumping ground. this despite the multimillion dollar park recreation that was completed less than two years ago. >> the trash strategy i don't really understand. clearly after two years no one is going to hoof down to the corner to bring their trash. so without more trash cans they will leave it where it's at. >> reporter: trash cans used to be located in the middle of the park on the rolling hills.

now they are only along the perimeter. but the city added over 20,000- gallon capacity to the receptacle. this weekend alone 460 gallons of trash were we moved. >> you can't build yourself out of a trash problem. it's about people wanting to take care of the park. not having enough receptacles. >> reporter: it took an eight man crew less than three hours to turn this into the green landscape that we all know and love. but they have put extra garbage cans around the perimeter of the park so people can throw their trash away. jackie ward kpix 5. police are look for a serial tire slasher in concord. this new surveillance video knows a man walking up up to and kneeling by a tire that was slashed. this is more than 20 in that neighborhood. police got calls. they say the vandalism happened

between 9:00 and early sunday morning. >> so this jackpot that did this, i hope he is caught. it's ridiculous. people are working hard in this neighborhood. and they come out in the morning to either go wherever they need to go on a weekend and find out that their vehicles have been vandalized. it's just wrong. >> here is a photo of another person's tire from the concord pd facebook page. they hope more people come forward with home surveillance footage. people who drive over the bay bridge are seeing a new banner. it commemorates the armenia genocide that took place more than 100 years ago. the banner was paid for by members of the armenian community. it will stay up through the month of april. traffic alert for drivers on i-80 in vallejo. caltrans crews are making emergency pavement repairs. this is on the eastbound side. the three left lanes are closed. the work set so continue until 2:00 this afternoon.

commuters are giving the newest bart station mixed reviews. the warm spring station in south fremont opened nine business days ago. several say they were surprised to find out they have to transfer once they get to the fremont station if it's during off peak hours. >> i was disappointed to see they weren't bringing it down one more station. it adds 50 minutes to my commute time. >> this is better than going to fremont. >> many are giving the location a thumbs up. it's convenient because it's both to 680 and 880. president trump's supreme court nominee neil gorsuch faces his first big vote today and republicans and democrats are still very much at odds. craig boswell on capitol hill with the show down. >> reporter: the senate judiciary committee is expected to send judge gorsuch's nominee on to the senate.

>> this is a justice judge. he is the picture of the kind of justice we should have on the supreme court. >> based on his records i have concerns about his views. >> reporter: the vote which ised to fall along party lines sets up a battle over a senate rule. democrats say they plan to filibuster judge gorsuch's nomination which requires 60- volts. >> it takes 60 votes on controversial matters. this is nothing new. >> reporter: republicans need eight democrats to clear the 60 vote hurdle. right now they have four saying they will vote against a filibuster. >> judge gorsuch will be confirmed. the way in which that occurs is in the hands of the democratic minority. >> reporter: one we republicans can -- one way republicans can get around the filibuster is invoking the filibuster rule. which would allow gorsuch to pass with a simple majority. >> during the course of the week we will find out exactly

how this will end. but it will end with his confirmation. >> reporter: leader mcconnell says the senate will vote on gorsuch's nomination on friday. craig boswell cbs news capitol hill. >> and just in the divided senate panel has backed gorsuch by an 11-9 vote along party lines. the gop is likely to change senate rules to confirm him. as for dianne feinstein and kamala harris, both plan to vote no. jared kushner is in iraq today. that is according to a senior administration official. kushner expected to visit with u.s. forces, meet with iraqi leaders, and talk with senior u.s. advisors. during his trip he can get an update efforts. and will have a major role in meetings this week between president trump and china's president. on the storm watch a twister caught on camera in louisiana. storm chasers spotted the

funnel cloud crossing a road. that is when they decided to back away for their own safety. a wise decision. that was one of at least ten tornadoes to hit louisiana and texas yesterday. one of them was deadly. david reports 50 million people in the southeast are facing the risk of more severe weather today. >> reporter: it was an outbreak of tornadoes that struck texas and louisiana sunday. >> oh my gosh that's it. >> reporter: storm chasers captured this one crossing interstate 49 in louisiana. >> it's right in front of me. >> reporter: an ef1 tornado with winds up to 110 miles per hour flipped over this mobile home in st. martin perish. killing 38-year-old fran seen and her three-year-old daughter ma via. >> we called fran seen's name and there was no response. >> reporter: marcela alexander is navia's grandmother.

just surpassed ford, becoming the number two car company in t comes to new ranking today for bay area based tesla. just surpassed ford becoming the number two car company in the u.s.. shares up after tesla delivered a record 25,000 vehicles in the first quarter of the year. that is up 69% from the year before. the deliveries were almost evenly divided between model s sedans and model x suvs. deliveries fell because of short term production issues. and ford recalling 52,000 f-250 trucks from this model year because they can roll away while even in park.

the coit tower, that is queen victoria. that came in earlier this morning from honolulu. and then that is the ruby prince. what a great day in the bay area for all of those passenger tense joy. temperatures are in the 60s. it is 67-degrees in san jose and also in redwood city. robert sullivan in redwood city says 75 degrees. break out the shorts. today is hammock weather. you are spot on right there. ten miles per hour winds in redwood city. these winds will crease. that low, this high continues to build in. we're still under the influence of that high pressure continued sunny and warm. look at what happens by wednesday. we start to see a vail of clouds over the bay area at lunchtime. and then the leading edge of a powerful storm begins to show up on our satellite imagery.
