any moment. >> we kind of knew it was coming. um, nothing seems right about it at all. >> reporter: an emotional day in court for keith green's friends and family as they watched the mother of his children and his accused killer take one step closer to walking out of jail. >> money can get you all sorts of things. >> reporter: tiffany li just posted one of the highest bail amounts in history. $62million in property which is double the bail amount as well as $4 million in cash. >> my client is saying she is not guilty. there's going to be a trial. the young man is dead who shouldn't be and we agree with that. and that's the issue. the amount of money on bail is insue layerry. >> reporter: he insists his client is innocent. she is accused of conspiring with two men to shoot and kill green. his body found on the side of the road last year.

>> brutally murdered, shot at close range. so it's a terrible story. and we will prevail. >> reporter: angela dunn says green lived with her for the last six months of his life. knowing his accused killer walking out of jail is difficult for everyone, she says, especially green's mother. >> she is grieving terribly. i mean, what can we tell you? their only child. we have seen the evidence. it's terrible. >> reporter: that was maria medina reporting. li raised the money from family, friends and business associates. she will be released from jail about 1 p.m. the bay area woman implicated in the orlando nightclub massacre is going to florida. noor salman was being held in the santa rita jail in dublin on charges of helping her husband omar mateen plan the attack that killed 49 people at the pulse nightclub last june. salman was arrested at her parents' home in rodeo in january. she pleaded not guilty to charges but has agreed to

return to florida to stand trial. another spring storm is taking the bay area, will be here shortly. roberta is in the weather center with what to expect. >> it's a two-day storm and it's fast-moving and as it now enters the bay area, these are all the prefrontal rains that are running in advancement of the main event itself. but you can see the scattered light precipitation from vallejo all the way to san jose. the other side of the story happens to be the very gusty winds right now out of the south at 10 in redwood city. not so bad but these winds will continue to increase as the day wears on. about 10 to 20 and then by the tail end of the evening commute, 20 to 30 miles an hour. overnight gusts over 65 miles per hour. so we look at all the red, that's the warning for the gustiest winds, the blue an advisory. and look at our futurecast. that right there is what you can expect by the evening commute. i'll talk about how this first storm will impact your weekend and kenny, that's coming up

later. breaking news just coming in right now. comedian don rickles has died. the man dubbed mr. warmth and the merchant of venom died this morning in his home in los angeles. rickles' career spanned six decades. he started in stand-up and was known for his insults. he also appeared in dozens of films and was a favorite on the late night talk show circuit. don rickles was 90. the canadian woman convicted in the heroin death of a leivfacing deportation. 29-year-old alix tichelman pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter for injecting forrest hayes with a lethal dose of heroin in 2013. she was due to be set free yesterday after serving half her six-year sentence. now immigration has place a hold on her and will deport her back to canada. a bay area man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend in front of her young kids is in custody. it took a massive manhunt to find him. officers brought 43-year-old "lawyer dushan mcbride" into

richmond pd headquarters yesterday afternoon. authorities say tips from the community helped them track him down at a sacramento fast-food restaurant. mcbride is suspected of fatally shooting 29 rashanda franklin as she drove her children to daycare. the surveillance video shows the driver pulling up next the victim's car, pausing during the ambush shooting, and then speeding off. new at noon, two women are being treated for smoke inhalation after a morning fire. the flames broke out at a three- story residential building on randall street in the glen park neighborhood just before nine a.m. the two women inside got out and are in stable condition at a local hospital. five cats were also removed from the building and are expected to be okay. california congressman devin nunes is no longer involved in the house investigation into russian meddling in the u.s. election. republican from california recused himself following complaints that he violated ethics rules by paying a secret visit to the white house to review classified documents. in a statement, nunes called the charges false. he said it was in the best

interests of the committee if he stepped aside. democrats say it's long overdue. >> because of his role in the trump transition, and because of his erratic bizarre behavior as chairman of the committee. >> it will i think allow us to have a fresh start moving forward. >> republican congressman mike conway will now lead the house investigation. the senate is going nuclear. it set the stage for a vote for supreme court nominee neil gorsuch. it came this morning after 45 democrats voted successfully to block gorsuch's nomination. in response, republicans changed the rules to change the threshold for a supreme court confirmation. just a simple majority 51 votes are needed. lawmakers on both sides lament the change saying it could put more extreme judges on the court. gorsuch's final vote and confirmation is expected tomorrow. president trump meets with the president of china for the first time today. weijia jang is in west palm

beach with new details on the two-day summit at the president's florida home. >> reporter: protestors got in place early this morning near president donald trump's florida home where he is holding a summit with the president of china. the sheriff says security is tighter than ever. >> we are not going to tolerate any civil disobedience, throwing of objects, or any other type of disorderly conduct. >> reporter: north korea's nuclear program is expected to dominate the agenda during the two-day visit here at mar-a- lago. the white house wants china to use its economic leverage to pressure its southern neighbor. just two days ago, the communist country test-fired another missile. president trump and the president of china will discuss trade between the u.s. and china, also. as a candidate, mr. trump frequently criticized beijing of engaging in practices equated to rape and theft. >> we did state dinners to the heads of china. i say, why are you doing state

the "salesforce tower" is now considered the tallest building west of chicago. kpix 5 reporter ann makovec was a milestone today at a san francisco construction site. the "salesforce tower" is now considered the tallest building west of chicago. kpix 5's anne makovec was there the moment it happened. >> this is truly a great day for san francisco. >> reporter: the ceremonial topping off of the "salesforce tower," the 61-story tower occupies a full city block and is taking over the san francisco skyline. it's 1,070 feet tall, surpassing the transamerica pyramid by more than 200 feet. as part of this topping off celebration, people signed this

beam that will be lifted to the top of the tower. and leaders from all faiths gathered to give blessings to the building and the city. >> it just seems fitting that the tallest building west of chicago literally a beacon has a ceremony representing such inclusion and openness of our diverse faiths. >> reporter: the "salesforce tower" is next to the city's new transbay transit center on mission and first, part of a new center of gravity for downtown san francisco. in san francisco, anne makevoc, kpix 5. >> construction on the "salesforce tower" began in 2013. the santa clara valley water district holds its first of three public meetings today. tension has been building between the city and water district officials ever since coyote creek flooded several neighbors in february. the two agencies have been pointing the finger at each other other flawed evacuation

plans. tonight's meeting starts at 6:00 at the county service building in san jose. new at noon, golden state warriors star kevin durant is cleared to return to full team practices after a knee injury that he got in february. the warriors say if durant doesn't have any setbacks after tomorrow's practice he will probably play saturday at oracle against the pelicans. it's a gloomy day for baseball. a storm is setting up just in time for the oakland a's first day game at the oakland coliseum. that didn't stop thousands of fans from going to the ballpark. they hope to up number against anaheim having only won one against them. >> we are here with the crew out here. we're all doing a little barbecue, going to enjoy the game today. >> glad that they are planning to stay here and they will be

65-mile-per-hour winds overnight. the blue is the advisory. still some 35 to 45-mile-per- hour winds. so winds increase as the day progresses. spotty showers, rain intensifies. by the evening commute, especially in the north bay, the heaviest rain in the overnight hours tonight. spotty rain showers for friday with the potential of an isolated thunderstorm. but this is the area of low pressure, this is the front area that will be slicing through the bay area. here's your futurecast. that's your evening commute. that's some heavy rain north of the golden gate bridge sliding into the central bay. that's some heavy precipitation with gusty winds up to 65 miles per hour coastal areas and higher elevations. this is tomorrow. 24 hours from now when we buy a break with a spotty hit-and-run hit and miss scattered shower. overnight a little bit of a break lingering showers saturday, there's your lunchtime on saturday. it's okay. but we still would see some scattered showers until about 6:00 in the evening hours.

then we begin to clear out and set the stage for clear skies for palm sunday. easily up to an inch of rain through the urban areas. two to three inches in the north bay. winter storm watch in effect for the high sierra but we have a warning on the northern half. we have up to a foot of snow expected at the lake level. two feet of snow in the mountain because they don't have enough snow there. right? oakland. if you are heading to the sierra, you definitely need the chains. 60s across the board today except for the pleasanton area at 72 degrees. down from 81 yesterday. we do have tomorrow much cooler air mass with that slight chance of a thunderstorm spotty showers, saturday lingering showers but clearing out late afternoon to the evening hours. there's that sunshine for sunday. and then dry monday through wednesday. but then i'm looking at unsettled weather returning next thursday, friday. friday into the easter weekend. >> oh-oh. >> yeah. >> so the heaviest rain will have a batch towards the tail end of the evening compute tonight and then overnight again tonight but the winds are

repairs to roads across california. lawmakers plan to vote on the ors 52 billion d today a vote in the state senate could bring repairs to roads in california. lawmakers will vote on the governor's $52 billion plan to fix infrastructure across the state. to pay for it a 12 cents cents a gallon gas tax would be added, and registration fees would go up. drivers are mixed on the idea of paying for road repair. >> i would like to see better roads and if it comes from my pocket, i don't mind. >> i think i already can't afford to live in california and this is just going to make it worse. >> governor brown says that the money would be earmarked

specifically for transportation. he also claims his plan will create hundreds of jobs across the state. some republicans are against it. assemblyman matthew harper is saying, quote: >> if every republican in sacramento votes against it the governor would need almost all the democrats to approve it to get a two-thirds majority. bart riders, the transit system is planning to stop service between the lake merritt and fruitvale stations this saturday and sunday. it's to repair rails. there will be bus bridges. but bart is telling riders to allow an extra 25 to 40 minutes for your trip. -- this summer we'll hear some rare details of life inside san quentin state prison from inmates themselves. sharon chin introduces us to the woman behind that unique project. >> we got them to sing.

>> reporter: nigel poor helps inmates share their stories in san quentin's media lab. >> it was a really powerful way for the men to be able to talk about their own experience through their own voice. >> i feel nervous. i kept looking at the clock. >> reporter: nigel launched a podcast last year with inmates earlonne woods and antwan williams. it's called "ear hustle," prison slang for eavesdropping. >> i think we're cool. >> reporter: the photography professor volunteers three days a week producing prison interviews alongside the men on topics like the first day in prison and living with hiv. cohost earlonne woods is serving a long sentence for a robbery related crime. he says the project means a lot. about, um, a guy that grew up like i grew up. i was in a gang and how certain decisions in his life had a catastrophic effect on his family. >> i got this rush of adrenaline. >> reporter: and the team was thrilled to win an international contest to broadcast "ear hustle" on "radiotopia's" online network starting in june.

>> maximum security, death row. >> we were able to get beyond these walls. our voices are able to heard beyond these walls. >> reporter: lieutenant sam robinson must approve the content before air. he says nigel inspires the men's creativity and confidence and production skills that could one day lead to a job. >> she is really helping people elevate themselves from a place to a place that i think many of them really wouldn't even imagine was possible for them. >> reporter: nigel has learned something, too. >> people inside prison can be, um, productive citizens like anybody else and have something to contribute. >> reporter: so for helping san quentin inmates share their experiences, this week's jefferson award in the bay area goes to nigel poor. sharon chin, kpix 5. nigel says she hopes people will hear their stori see >> not everyone may support the project. nigel says she hopes people will hear their stories and see prisoners with more understanding.
