employee. >> took his money and pulled to the next window and she stepped out of there and called the state police right away. >> good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs news headquaters here in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne marie green. well a closely watched congressional election is headed to a run off this morning. 30-year-old democrat jon ossoff was the top vote getting in the 18 candidate primary. he is trying to at the identify the odds in take georgia's 6th congressional district that voted republican since 1978. he'll face the republican in the june run off. president trump used twitter to urge republicans to vote in an election that some see as a referendum on his presidency. roxanna is here. good morning.

good morning, ossoff had the support of grass roots activists and millions in donations but fell short of the majority needed to win out right in a race that has national implications. >> democrat jon ossoff took the stage tuesday night gearing up to flip georgia's 6th congressional seat in two months time. >> there is no doubt that this is already a victory for the ages. >> democrats pumped millions of dollars into his campaign hoping the 30-year-old former congressional staffer would win yesterday's special election outright. that would have turned the district from red to blue for the first time in nearly 40 years. >> only you can stop the super liberal democrats and in

particular, jon ossoff. >> president trump countered the efforts in a series of robos calls and tweets. he took credit for tuesday's outcome. despite major outside support, big run off win in georgia. glad to help. >> the president is interested in what happens here. >> ossoff will face the republican. she earned more votes than 11 other republicans vying for the spot. >> it's been a competitive campaign. no coronation which is what occurred on the democrat side. democrats are betting national anger with the president will translate into votes for ossoff. the party needs 24 seats to win back the house in 2018. >> president trump beat hillary clinton in the 6th district by

just one point in november. the congressional seat there was left vacant when tom bryce became the president's health and human services secretary this year. >> thank you so much roxanna. overseas now vice president mike pence again warned north korea not to test the resolve of the united states. pence is in japan. he met with business leaders today but earlier on board the american aircraft carrier the u.s.s. reagan pence reiterated for the third day in a row his warning to north korea that any military aggression would be met with overwhelming u.s. response. >> the united states of america will always seek peace but under president trump the shield stands guard and the swords stand ready. >> pence also visited japanese youth baseball and softball clinic. he leaves for indonesia this morning. >> meanwhile a vision aired on television in north korea. it is missiles engulfing america in flames. it was part of ceremonies marking the birth of the country's founder. the regime has a long history of

threats against the u.s. the trump administration says iran is complying with the nuclear deal negotiated by the obama administration in 2015 but in a letter to speaker paul ryan, secretary of state rex tillerson said the administration is reviewing the agreement and said iran remains a leading state sponsor of terrorism. president trump took his america first campaign pledge to wisconsin signing an executive order targeting the visa program allowing highly skilled workers into this country. the president toured the tool manufacturer. the executive order looks to curve the h1v program that undercuts u.s. workers by bringing in larger number of cheaper foreign workers. also looks to have american made products used in certain federal projects. >> in short, this order declares that american projects should be

made with american goods. >> while pledging to support american made goods many trump branded products like clothing are made overseas. super bowl champions the new england patriots visit the president at the white house today but at least six players decided not to attend. the boston globe reports alan branch opted out because of the president's sexist remarks. four others disagree with the president's policies and one hasn't said why he's not attending. former president george h.w. bush remains in a houston hospital this morning being treated for pneumonia. mr. bush is 92 years old and has been at methodist hospital since friday. he was hospitalized for 16 days in january when he was treated again for pneumonia. he is said to be in good spirits and will remain hospitalized while he regains his strength. fox news is ready to end it's association with star anchor bill o'reilly.

there's mounting pressure on the network to drop o'reilly followling allegations that fox settled multiple sexual harassment complaints. he's been on vacation from his show since april 12th. a slew of advertisers defected from his show. the murdoch family originally backed o'reilly but that appears to be changing. police in fresno, california say the man suspected of shooting three men planned to kill as many white people as possible. he was also wanted in the death of a security guard last week. he faces four counts of murder. >> fresno police arrested mohammad for gunning down three men in a block and a half square area on tuesday in what they describe as random acts of violence. >> these individuals chosen today did not do anything to deserve what they got. these were unprovoked attacks. the chief says month hah made was armed with a .357 resolver when he opened fire on

his first victim sitting inside a utility truck. moments later he shot and killed his second and third victims. one on the sidewalk and the other in the parking lot of the catholic charities, taking time to reload. >> all six rounds were fired in less than a minute within four different locations. >> officers responded within one minute of the first shot. they tackled and arrested mohammed moments later. >> as he was taken into custody he yelled out. >> the chief said mohammed also officers he hates white people. all three victims were white men. >> this is solely based on race and and it has nothing to do with terrorism in spite of the statements that he made. >> he told officers he pledged his allegiance to go in case something happened to him as a result of his actions.

they were already searching for mohammed in connection with a shooting that left a security guard at a motel dead. the man known as the facebook killer killed himself after being recognized at a fast food restaurant and being chased by police. steve stephens was spotted at a mcdonald's in eerie, pennsylvania. 48 hours earlier he gunned down a 74-year-old man and posted the video on book. a drive-thru attendant recognized period stephens. the restaurant owner said they try to buy some time to notify police. >> told him it was going to be a minute for his fries. it wasn't really. we were just trying to make sure that she got into contact with the state police. >> police chased stephens for two miles before he took his own life. >> although this was not the

wells fargo is testing a chat bot in facebook marijuana. gives customers information about their accounts. wells fargo says it's testing the automated program in 700 employees. wells fargo and other banks hope they can provide better and continuous customer service and also do it cheaper than large call centers. volkswagen introduced an electric crossover concept car. it's supposed to use augmented reality to feed the driver information. it includes gesture controls to navigate the interface. the battery pack sits in the floor. it's expected to have a range of about 500 miles. the production model is expected in 2020. google updated it's virtual global map. google earth to let people see three maps of specific locations. users can see the location in three dimensions getting a drone's eye view around the world. it also includes interactive guided tours.

pregnancy somehow increases the risk of autism spectrum disorder or asd but two studies out today find the cause may not be the drugs themselves. he is the lead author of one of the studies. >> we looked at women that used antidepressants in one pregnancy and not another and we found there is no difference in the rates of autism among the siblings. >> both studies found an increased risk of asd, about twice normal but the records of more than 1.5 million women suggest that other factors linked to depression maybe to blame. >> factors could include more psychological problems. it could include genetic factors. it could include more environmental factors like poor prenatal care. this should be reassuring to pregnant women with depression. untreated depression during pregnancy may lead to poor outcomes for mother and the baby. cbs news, new york. coming up on cbs this morning, celebrity chef anthony
