hazard. not sure yet. and that is far right as well. we'll await word on both of these players. back to 17. ian: to take a one-shot lead. every time at the country club in australia will be looking with great interest as young cam looks for his first victory on the pga tour. just 2 years of age and an invitation into the players championship in a couple of weeks' time and of course making his way to the masters and a victory on his credit. they're having a good time. jonas blixt and cameron smith. his coach back in australia watching. he's done a great job with him. now, these two still need to make the par. about four feet, dottie?
5:31 pm
dottie: yeah, it's a solid four. and i think it's not outside the hole. needs some pace. the greens have slowed up a lot. ian: we've seen a lot of putts missed left there today. really a tricky hole location. nick: jeepers. that's not nice to do to your partner. you have this to stay alive basically. ian: and it's downhill going left. nick: wow. after make everything, now to grind. they obviously went quiet for a while but the start was unbelievable. now off true pressure-packed putt. just to stick around. ian: you think back, too, over the last couple of years. kevin kisner has been so close so many times. he lost two playoffs in 2015. he's had five second-place finishes in the last two seasons. scott brown a second earlier in the year.
5:32 pm
genesis open, rivera. winner, of course, in puerto rico in 2013. so they're accomplished players. big putt. gutsy putt. well gone done. a little sigh of relief as they head to the 18th. jonas scomblict cameron smith, as they walk to 18. the full pennsylvania tour exemption through the 2018-2019 season. the players, dean and kaluka at colonial. the memorial tournament. quicken loans national and of course the pga championship at quail hollow. and all the fedexcup points, etc. plus all those points getting
5:33 pm
higher i the list for the presidents cup which will be played this year. bill: and ian, cameron lives in jacksonville and practices at sawgrass so that will be almost a home game for him. ian: yes. bill: nick watney up ahead. 18. nick: overspins it. bill: that was a moment ago. and now live and jordan did stay on that bank. nick: there's the ball by the -- uh-oh. here we go. rules.
5:34 pm
bill: let's go back on the tee. nick: anyway, two really important tee shots. they'd like to both be in this hole. dottie: i can promise you it's much darker out here than that picture is telling. nick: that left one. got to stay away from the water. managed to avoid that nasty bunker. bill: it's going to be just fine. nick: might need a little bit of metal to get to the green. bill: from brisbane. produced the likes of greg norman, wayne grady, adam scott and finchy. all of them major champions. ian: jason day nearby as well. bill: now blixt. and the iris on the camera lens
5:35 pm
is wide open because you look behind us at 18 and it's very dark. nick: that's ok. oh, it's sitting up nicely but you can see the slope on that bank. at least he's in the home. didn't want to be in the bunker and wedging it out. bill: scott brown. nick: everybody is just for safety, just tweaking it -- that's going to help. dottie: he has driven the golf ball so well today. bill: that's going to settle nicely. dottie: he's played quickly and really well off the tee. bill: kevin kisner now. thinking three? nick: there's only been one three. these guys didn't get much help
5:36 pm
out of this. they've still got a decent length second shot. they've still got 260-plus. we think it's all very easy but they're going to be hitting metal into 1 so it will be tough to get it super close, you would believe. bill: jordan has said that he may have grounded his club in the hazard. nick: yeah, but why? i mean, he's on the bank -- what is he? please help me. you know you can't touch the grass. you know you can't -- don't even
5:37 pm
get near it. i would be swinging a foot high right now if you think that. it's going to be damp, isn't it? bill: well, this is listed as his third shot. so this is what he was concerned about. ryan palmer's ball is already in the water. nick: did he slip or single -- anything? was it on a megafollow-through? bill: right here. nick: like that one. bill: yeah, he brushed the grass. what's the difference between that and browneding -- grounding the club? and that's what jordan was asking about. meanwhile, here was nick watney for birdie. you see jordan in the background
5:38 pm
sort of explaining what had happened. so 19 under. he and charley shoot 68. so the top four and the top five are in the field automatically. next week at the wells fargo. chase koepka. he's is one who will -- not already except and will get an invitation in that logjam at 19 under par. big tie for fifth. and cameron smith. thinking about his options here. the young aussie, 23 years old. born in 1993.
5:39 pm
that's the same year that jordan was born. justin thomas. ollie schniederjans as well. dottie: is it that high school class of 2011 that we keep talking about? crazy. bill: it is. crazy good. dottie: crazy good. nick: well, this group didn't quite pound it down there like tway and kelly kraft. because they've got about 280 to the hole. they're obviously going to try and get as possible to the green. so that front middle bunker might be a nice lay-up. i'm sorry, not lay-up. bailout, rather. yeah, it's pretty dark out there. bill: all right.
5:40 pm
couldn't quite get the charge they wanted. 64. thought it might be possible after those three consecutive birdies. blixt is ready. nick: he's thinking just anything left of the green. bill: again, the cameras are very misleading because it's plenty dark out there. you can tell by the way that scoreboard is glowing on the other side of the bond. -- pond. blixt and smith lead by one. dottie: smith has 294. it's just a matter of picking the sing -- angle and giving yourself the third-shot yardage that you like most.
5:41 pm
nick: most metal woods guys hit 260. only the big bombers can hit them 280-plus. leaves him a little bit of an awkward stance. dottie: and he can't touch the golf ball. nick: good point. not a lot of room to work with. it's getting a little dark and nervy. bill: scott brown. gives it a rip. nick: yeah, it's going to be left for safety. these guys are -- i guess with it getting dark and damp, the atmospheric pressure has changed a touch and this will be one big bust if he could get this to the front edge.
5:42 pm
hit it a little fat. a little fat. so -- but it's ok. bill: and the wang daylight. they've reached -- waning daylight. they've reached the last. why the samsung galaxy s8 is better on verizon? well we have the largest 4g lte network in america. yeah that's a pretty good reason. and the most reliable. uh-huh. and, with unlimited, you get full hd video. oh wow, yeah, that's, uh, two, maybe even three reasons right there. it's exactly three. okay. sure, whatever you say. (vo) if you really, really want the best, switch to verizon unlimited and get the galaxy s8 for just $15 a month. i saw you take those phones, you know. no, you didn't. (knocks on door) (laughs) (laughs) (chugging drink)
5:43 pm
(chugging drink) (mmm mmmm) "the lg instaview™ door-in-door® refrigerator. knock twice and see inside." (lg chime) bill: well, it's been a great week here at the zurich classic of new orleans and a fitting terrific finish as these players have reached the 72nd hole in this first official team event on the pga tour since 1981. had a weather delay earlier today. around six hours, 15 minutes, something like that. dangerous storm came through. the guys came back out. we knew it was going to be close
5:44 pm
and it's pretty dark out there right now. nick: i was going to say, the picture you're seeing is nothing like the real darkness. it is -- especially under this pressure this is just enough, it could make the difference and these guys have got to judge it well. they have a bit of downslope they can feed it in but they know that kisner is up there with a really nice easy chip shot. he's just got to get it on the green. i do believe he can get his inside six feet comfortably whereas these guys, getting it within six feet from here is a really gutsy shot. they could overspin one. they know they cannot go long or they'd be tone. they have to judge judge it perfectly. bill: these conditions not unlike when tiger won at firestone in 2000. rory at valhalla in 2014.
5:45 pm
tom watson, final hole of the open championship, st. andrews. and moore when we won at john deere in 2016. the hole lit only by the giant scoreboard by the green. otherwise then not have been able to finish. nick: you have to put it on automatic here. you know your yardage and you know your swing to produce that yardage. he's going to put an awful lot of trust into this one and you have to dial down that adrenaline. dottie: this yardage is exactly the same as he had for the third shot back at the 12th. nick: good tempo. it can get up and stay up. 15-footer just about. just over.
5:46 pm
how tricky is cameron's lie, dottie? dottie: it's not a very good lie. it's on a decent downslope and the ball is sitting down in a little tuft of thick bermuda. nick: he's going to have a bunker straight in front and then onto a downslope. there it is. look at that. but if he does it right. five, seven yardso that bunker, it's going to roll forward. dottie: going the hoy route. nick: he's going to do it. he's going to do it. dottie: wow. wow. nick: what a golf shot! wow, a lot of divot came up there for a split second. he just got it right.
5:47 pm
bill: to get a spot in the players championship with a win today in his adopted hometown. ponte vedra, the jacksonville area. and that is a great shoot from a difficult position under pressure. nick: it sure is. as i said, to get inside six feet. most important thing, keep your head down, see that divot first. got it onto the downslope and it must have been break kisner's heart. he now knows he's got to chip in to force a playoff. bill: scott brown. nick: same here. scott's got to be thinking hole it. that's a pretty good effort. bill: well -- [laughter] nick: it's going to go in. cameron knows he has to make it.
5:48 pm
if kisner holes it, he's got it for a tie. reading this one like a putt. wow, what a -- bill: oh, my goodness! nick: that's what we were looking for. bill: wow! nick: it went in like right up a drainpipe. what a shot. jams it in there. they are stunned. bill: can you believe that? bill: i thought -- talk about a quick decision. he took one look at that and jams it in there.
5:49 pm
jamming jazz, in new orleans. bill: unbelievable. an eagle at the last for 60. another look. nick: it was scuddling, wasn't it? there was only going one place. if it missed there, it was whatever, eight feet past. unbelievable. goodness me. ok, youngster, you've now got this for the halve. wow wee.
5:50 pm
bill: his partner is in there close. bill: -- nick: sometimes in this situation you go the other way around because it takes the pressure off cameron because he's only got two feet. if he misses this he really has just one chance to tie. bill: so cameron smith has to make his. nick: you could tell by their faces they were shocked at that so they have to really, really regroup. amazing, you've been here all week, haven't made a bogey. you're not going to make a bogey and now this forget the whole week, you have this one shot to tie. bill: for the playoff.
5:51 pm
nick: what a halve. what a half tournament in 27 under. bill: that was some ending. 64 for blixt and smith. nick: what does that mean for a playoff? candlelit playoff? bill: there you go. that tells you really. bill: wow. so kisner and brown get off to a hot start. birdie their first eight holes. then pars then birdies at 10 and 11, all pars until they get to the 18th and kisner holes out
5:52 pm
for eagle. 28, 32. 60, 4 for plict and smith and they end regulation tied at 27 under par. nick: well, this was impressive. he had a really awkward shot. it's dark. lands it on the spot. i mean, that was a winning shot but then this one. absolutely trumped it. bill: and then this, the shot of the week. maybe the shot of the year. that forced cameron smith to make this to earn the tie.
5:53 pm
