plaza at market street corner right now. >> reporter: they're now moving to market street where they're planning on marching down to city hall, san francisco's civic center. you can see some of the crowds here behind me. hundreds of people gathered here this morning talking about a myriad of social justice issues dealing with race and equality and workers' laws. the demonstrations here in san francisco started at 8:00 a.m. in the financial district. a group of about 200 people taking over the intersection of samsung and washington right in the middle of rush hour. that was outside the federal office of immigration and custom enforcement where protestors linked arms to block the driveway. they were protesting an increase in deportations under the donald trump administration. two main themes as demonstrators move through the

downtown streets; workers' rights and immigration policy. >> i've been an organizer all my life. for the first time, i've seen so many people getting up and waking up finally and saying, something is wrong! >> reporter: that's roberto hernandez who kept his kid home from school today to honor the call. he says members should stay home today, stay home from work, and stop shopping as part of a general strike. this moving from justin herman plaza down market to civic center plaza. protestors have been peaceful today. they've said, keep it clean, keep it peaceful so our message is on point. mack marcas, kpix5. -- anne makovec, kpix5. officials say this shooting happened at a home near the dallas fire and rescue training academy. we learned the paramedic is under critical condition.

no word on the condition of the other victim. police are still searching for the gunman. and we're learning more about the man suspected of shooting seven people near uc san diego and why police say he did it. new video from the moments of the shooting is now being released. they say peter selis opened fire at a pool area of an apartment complex yesterday. he pointed the gun at officers when he arrived on the scene, forcing them to shoot and kill him. officials say he was despondent over a breakup with his girlfriend and even called her after the shooting. according to witnesses, selis had been drinking shortly before opening fire. >> mid-shooting, he was sitting by the pool, drinking a beer. >> yes, he was. he had a gun in one hand and a beer in the other. one victim tried to crawl towards the other to help. >> one woman died from her injuries. the six others remain in the hospital this afternoon.

they are expected to arrive. a tentative agreement has been reached between the sunnyvail association and the city avoiding a looming strike. negotiations have been going on the last two years. the plan was for 400 city employees to walk off the job this morning. but negotiations carried on through the night. and early this morning, both parties came up with a deal to benefit the residents. >> >> both partied wanted to come together so we wouldn't have an impact to the residents here. >> we can go back and do all of our blue and white collar jobs taking care of every aspect of the city. >> the exact terms of the agreement hasn't been reached. sunnyvale still has to approve the contract. a lawsuit filed by air bandb.

it makes mandatory host with the administration easier. the city attorney says he's happy the companies are no longer fighting san francisco's common sense regulations. new at noon, california's record-spending snowpack is nearly double its normal level. department of water resources is conducting the final snowpack survey of the season. and here's a look at the sierra from skythere drone 5. still a lot of snow up there -- skydrone 5. still a lot of snow up there, making up a third of all california's water supplies. >> and state water managers are out there right now. you can see them managing the snow. there's a serious risk of flooding, they say, with the sntiok aow matel. ck. >>ng it'll be a warm week. and looks like a beautiful day out there! >> reporter: the coast is clear! when was the last time we've been able to say that? the coast at 70 today. well, today is that day. it's our live weather camera looking out towards the bay.

what i've been looking at is that pier 9. that flag is a little bit of an onshore push there. wanted to verify this. it's another view from the golden gate bridge. look at all the people out and about, enjoying the sunshine. the flag is fluctuating. we are seeing an offshore flow in the inland areas. all the way up to 82 in liver -- livermore. wow! temperatures across the board today, 64 the average high in san francisco. 72, san jose. but instead, our numbers are arching 14 to 16 degrees above -- averaging 14 to 16 degrees above normal for this first day of may! it is a warm week ahead. when the cooler air mass will work its way in and also talk about rain chances? that's coming up later on in this newscast. kenny? >> thank you. all lanes are open on 880 in oakland after a deadly crash this morning. two people were killed, including a child. the driver of a bmw drifted off the road, hit a truck that was

disabled on the shoulder. the car then hit another truck when it got back on the road. the two people that died were on the backseat of the car. three other people in the car were taken to the hospital. shocking details about the number of sexual assaults that k through 12 campuses exist nationwide. for the first time, the associated press tallying the numbers. jessica is live with the details of the investigation. >> reporter: it's a groundbreaking report that gives us the most complete look at sexual violence in schools. the ap investigated high schools, middle schools, and even elementary schools across the country. their work finds thousands of students have sexual assaulted fellow students. unlike colleges and universities, k through 12 schools aren't required by federal law to track sexual assaults. still, 32 states do require schools to report offenses. california is one of them. california schools reported more than 4500 sexual assaults involving k through 12 students from 2011 to 2015.

nationwide, schools reported 17,000 sexual assaults over the four-year period. the ap found 5% of reported attacks involved 5 and 6-year- olds. incidents jump ages 10 through 11 and continue to climb through age 14. the report dropped through high school. they say schools are underreporting sexual assaults because there's no uniform way to classify offenses. and the ap found some schools reported no sexual assaults even when offenses were documented in public records or news reports. in the newsroom, i'm jessica flores, kpix5. republicans and democrats have agreed on a spending bill that will avert a government shutdown. the legislation was released just this morning. reporter meg oliver shows us what donald trump had to hold off on in order to get it done. >> reporter: a trillion dollar spending bill that will numbered the government through september 30th was released monday morning. donald trump dropped his

initial demands so lawmakers could make a deal. it includes $1.5 billion for more border security. but the money can't be used for a border law. the legislation does not cut funding for planned parenthood. and the environmental protection agency will keep 99% of its funding. and military spending increases $14.8 billion. the white house had initially asked for 30 billion. >> reporter: the bill is scheduled for a vote on the house on wednesday and has the bipartisan support needed to pass. lawmakers could next move on to the advised health care bill. >> reporter: it does not provide guaranteed coverage for preexisting conditions, allowing states to opt out of that mandate. but the president told cbs's "face the nation," the final legislation will cover preexisting conditions. >> this has evolved over the period of three or four weeks. now, we really have a good bill. i think they could have voted on friday. i said, just relax. don't worry about this phony 100-day thing. >> donald trump, sworn in as president 100 days ago -- r: pr

agreement as the 12:01 a.m. tuesday deadline reaches closer. that deadline could be extended. however, union members need to be ready to strike, we're told. the guild went on strike ten years ago and cost the entertainment industry $2 billion during the three-month strike. and a second chance to return overdue items without facing a second fine. that means books and dvd's and other materials can be dropped off with no consequences. they're hoping to send a message in exchange for this blank slate. they're promoting a right to library campaign. it stresses that everybody in the community has access to the library's resources from desktop computers to immigration services. >> we want everybody to feel welcome in our public libraries. they're safe places and everyone can get a library card. >> the fine forgiveness program runs until the end of the month. a ban on plastic bags is
