he and four others were fired. scalise is awake and speaking with his family. two people were killed when gunmen stormed a resort in the west african nation of mawly. mawly officials say this was a terrorist attack. 36 were arrested. two of the attackers were shot but two escaped. a fast moving fire in portugal kill at least 52 people. the victims were trying to outrun the flames saturday night. a huge wall of flames ran over cars and trucks northeast of lisbon. the fire is still going strong and the officials are still searching for more victims. 58 people are confirmed or presumed dead in a massive

two men who got lost saturday are saved. and the hero they have to thank is a drone. the aircraft scanned wide areas far faster than they could. the hikers and their dog were spotted in just two hours. a teacher's photo with the president becomes a hit on social media, and new developments in the case of a missing muslim girl. those are some of the headlines on the morning newsstand. the "washington post" reports a 22-year-old man is accused of-killing a 17-year-old virginia girl. the victim was reported missing early sunday after leaving a mosque with friends. a body believed to be hers was found yesterday in a pond. police say they have no evidence that it was a hate crime. "the wall street journal" says white house adviser jared kushner will visit the middle east on a peace mission.

our top stories this morning a van ran into pedestrians outside a mosque in north london. this morning's incident is being treated as a potential terrorist attack. ten people were injured, all from the muslim community. >> the van turned left with no indication. at one point he was under the van. he walked around to lift the van up to get this guy off the van. >> a 48-year-old man was behind the wheel. there were no other suspects. he was held by the crowd until police arrived and he is now under arrest. and the remains of seven sailors have been recovered from the flooded sleeping cabins onboard the uss fitzgerald.

>> the loss of loved ones is something great. this loss is something we all feel. >> the fitzgerald collided with a much larger container ship off the japanese coast. much of the crew was sleeping. the damage was so bad they had to fight to keep the ship afloat. it took place in one of the busiest waterways. the ship's captain suffered a head injury and had to be evacuated. both the u.s. and japan are investigating. summer doesn't officially start until wednesday, but parts of the west and southwest are already broiling in a triple-digit heat wave. it's making conditions even more dangerous for firefighters. danielle nottingham reports. >> reporter: temperatures in parts of california could rise as high as 25 degrees above normal. sizzling heat across the area could make things unhealthy.
