57 newsroom at cbs news headquarters here in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. the controversy over donald trump jr.'s meeting is not going aw away. the president returned to twitter to defend his eldest son. meanwhile the senate republican bill to replace the affordable health care act faces uncertainty, and don champion is here in new york. good morning, don. >> good morning, anne-marie. was adamant in saying there was nothing illegal about donald trump jr.'s meeting last year. president trump promised action in the week ahead on trade, the military, and security. it's the latest attempt to change the intent to policy issues. >> there's nothing illegal about that meeting. >> yesterday jay sekulow, the defendant's lawyer defended

trump junior's meeting that included the top campaign staff linked to the kremlin. also hammered home the president was not aware of the meeting. >> he did not participate in any of this. >> critics say the story is raising more questions than answers. >> first he said no, the meeting never happened. >> the president will also have to wait a bit longer to repeal and replace the health care. they say their timeline has been pushed back. they're waiting for senator john mccain who's recovering from surgery to return. >> the more the bill's out there the more conservatives are going to discover this not repeal. >> the budget office which was scheduled to release its new analysis today now says the analysis has been delayed. >> and president trump starting

a new league facing job approval numbers. only 36% of the americans polled approve of the job he's doing. >> don champion here in new york. thank you so much, don. ahead on "cbs this morning," we will ask dan senor about what the health care vote delay mean for its prospects of passing. well, the search resumes this morning following a deadly flash flood at a popular arizona swimming area. at least nine people including five children were killed saturday when a six foot wall of water slammed through a narrow canyon north of phoenix. the victims, a group of family and friends had no warning. the body of water was so powerful some bodies were slam found two miles down the river. one man is still missing. chris martinez has more. >> reporter: a family outing at a swimming hole ended in tragedy

ott saturday. on saturday they were caught in a sudden flags flood in on the toe national forest 90 miles north of phoenix. >> one witness said they heard a tremendous roar and the next thing they knew, the water and debris was on top of them and they were scrambling for their lives. >> reporter: the sudden flow of water came more than an hour after a half an a thunderstorm rolled through eight miles upstream. the runoff emptied into the canyon and began picking up speed. >> the water that was created from this graduated from the burn area, the highland fire. >> there's a lot of debris piles that we're trying to check through and make sure there's nobody in there, but it's just taken us a while. we've got probably five miles of river to search. >> according to officials, the search and rescue mission will continue until everyone is accounted for. chris martinez, cbs news. dozens of wildfires continue

to burn in at least ten western states. one of the most destructive is burning in santa barbara county. that's just northwest of los angeles. the whittier fire has destroyed nearly 50 buildings including 16 homes. the fire has been burning for more than a week, consuming more than 189,000 acres. a state of emergency has been declared and nearly 3,000 residents have been forced to evacuate. and fire officials in hawaii say a modern sprinkler system would have saved lives in a honolulu high-rise apartment. three people were killed in the fire that broke out friday afternoon. the fire started on the 26th floor and it quickly spread. many residents didn't even realize the fire had started until they opened their doors. some families now have no place to go. >> right now we're completely homeless. the three of us, me, my husband, and my mom. >> it's the saddest feeling from the place you love, the most

expensive investment that could take you a long time before you could afford it. >> the marco polo high-rise was built in 1971. that is before sprinklers were mandatory in high-rise buildings. officials in minneapolis are trying to figure out why a police officer shot and killed a woman while responding to her 911 call over an assault. one family member says the woman heard noises in theally. what happened when the police arrived is unclear. the officers were wearing body cameras, but they were not turned on as required. >> like you, i also have a lot of questions. i have a lot of questions why the body cameras were not turned on, questions that i hope and anticipate will be answered in the next few days, and share those questions with the community. >> the victim who was from australia had relocated to minneapolis. iran sentenced a chinese
