kenny is on assignment. danielle nottingham has the chaotic moments and what's next. danielle. >>reporter: law enforcement officials say they had no knowledge of stephen paddock. he wasn't in the local or federal data bases. and a family member said he never noticed any signs of trouble. law enforcement officers courted off the crime scene as they continue to identify bodies in the deadliest mass shooting in u.s. history. >> [gunfire] >> country music star jason aldean was performing at the harvest festival sunday night when gunfire rang out. >> people laying everywhere, people were bleeding. >> we have an active shooter inside the fairgrounds. >> many thought it was fireworks until victims started falling. >> i saw people getting hit with

bullets so my -- >> the shooter was 64-year-old paddock. they say he opened fire from his hotel room on the 32nd floor of the mandalay bay onto the crowd below before killing himself. >> they have one suspect down inside the room. >> police describe paddock as a lone wolf with no mown motive. the islamic state claimed responsibility, but the fbi says there's no evidence connecting the attack to an international terror group. >> i don't know how it could have been prevented if we didn't have prior knowledge of this individual. >> paddock's brother says the family is horrified and they have no idea what triggered the rampage. >> no religious affiliation, no political affiliation. he just hung out. >> no history of mental illness? >> not a bit. >> authorities are asking for blood donations and say it will take time to identify the dead and injured. police say paddock killed himself before swat teams

stormed the hotel room. investigators say he had ten rifles with him and used two windows to shoot down into the crowd. live in las vegas, danielle nottingham, back to you. >> and danielle, what about the search for the suspect's companion? >> yeah, investigators were looking for his companion when this started, marilou danley. she's out of the country. they're not sure if she's connected to this attack right now. they're not saying that she is, but they are interested in speaking with her when she returns to the country. the two did live together, and so she will most likely have information that could help them in their investigation. >> definitely a little more background information about him. danielle nottingham, live in las vegas, thank you. the suspect lives in mesquite, nevada. that's 80 miles

northeast of las vegas. police searched his home and found weapons and ammunition. they did not give information. we're told that mesquite is a retirement area. 18,000 people live there. the metro department police department and coroners office established a hotline for family or friends to report a missing loved one. there's a go fund me page. $846,000 have been raised of the $1 million goal. multiple police officers were among those killed or injured and authorizes say an off duty officer from las vegas died. two others on duty officers were wounded. they were from bakersfield and orange county. officials say they're expected to survive. president trump is expressing his condolences. weijia jiang continues coverage. >>reporter: president trump addressed the nation about the

mass smoothing in las vegas. >> hundreds of -- they're mourning a parent, a child or brother or sister. we cannot fathom their pain, we cannot imagine their loss. >> the president thanked the first responders for their effort. >> the speed with which they acted is miraculous, and prevented further loss of life. >> president trump was first briefed on the shooting shortly after dawn by chief of staff john kelly. afterwards, the president delivered a message on twitter writing my warmest con dole lenses and victim dole lenses -- con dole senses they call for stronger -- they call for stronger gun laws. it's infuriating my colleagues in congress are afraid of the gun industry -- president trump

plans to go to las vegas on wednesday. weijia jiang, cbs news, the white house. >> flights are arriving and departing from the airport in las vegas. many flights landed in the bay area this morning. kpix meg reports where she met one traveler who decided to skip out on the concert. >>reporter: we spoke with a man at sfo who touchdown from vegas, and he had been at that music concert on friday and saturday. the only reason he wasn't there last night was because his girlfriend got sick. >> i kept on forcing her, let's go. she said no. i said you know what -- i de cided to back out. >> when andre walters arrived at sfo he had the concert waistband in his pocket. >> i tried to get his son to take it. i said are you going to take this and he said no. >> the tragedy hit home.

>> my son's buddy passed away. pretty crazy. >> he lives in vegas and is in san francisco for work. many bay area locals -- >> i haven't slept. >> processing what they went through. >> it was awful. it was the worst night of my life. >> it was surreal, even right now, actually because i could hear gunshots just trying to get to my car. >> we thought it was fireworks. >> the diaz family from morgan hill was down the street from the shooting. >> we walked away from the strip and we kept going until we -- >> and since the strip was locked down, they spent hours waiting to get back in, now thankful to be safe. sorry for those who aren't. >> vegas is strong. vegas will come back. >> at sfo, anne mack vick. >> we spoke to a man who was at the concert who -- he and his wife are uninjured and arrived at the airport. he told us he

believes the swift action from police saved countless of lives. >> there were a couple of people shot near me, so my gut instinct was i doubled my wife and friends and we waited for the magazine to empty and we just started running and try to get as many people out of there as i could. kudos to the fire department, they were -- >> those -- the las vegas attack is the deadliest shooting in modern u.s. history. 49 people killed last year at pulse nightclub in orlando. in 2007, 32 people were gunned down at virginia tech. 27 adults and children were killed in 2012 at sandy hook elementary school in connecticut and 23 people were killed at [indiscernible] cafeteria in texas in 1991. kpix -- we're going to have a live report from her coming up at 5:00 and special hour long

where a gunman opened fire on a concert last night. the las vegas attack is the deadliest mass shooting in modern u.s. history. authorities say that gunman opened fire on the crowd gathered for a music festival. he killed at least 58 people and injured more than 500 people. police believe the gunman killed himself inside of that hotel room. tune in at 5:00 and 6:30 for live updates from the las vegas trip with julia goodridge. there was a -- at least 1,000 potential jurors have been summoned to weigh in on the murder of 32-year-old stinely. a significantly more potential jurors and typical trial. experts say picking a jury for this trial won't be easy. the man accused in stanley's death, 54-year-old garcia was wanted for deportation by federal agents. wells fargo and equifax are

>> we have a breeze picking up especially this afternoon. here's what you can expect. today and tomorrow, cooler air, settling in. we have north winds coming through the off wind flow creating a dryer condition so that -- we are going to start a warming trend wednesday through the weekend. the weekend temperatures are going to be nice and warm. look at our diablo camera. you can see it nice and clear. we have dry conditions out there. that area is under a red flag warning. 75 concord. livermore, 73. wind speeds areo pick up. pleasanton northwest at -- aek . -- oakland, 12. sustained winds between 10 to 15 miles-per-hour and that's why we have this red flag warning. look at this huge area under that warning. for the north bay hills, it will last until tomorrow, 5:00. east bay hills, it will expire tonight.

northeast winds, 10 to 20 miles-per-hour with gust at 50 miles-per-hour. for the higher elevations 1,000 feet and above. it's feeling cooler and windier. there's a low east of us bringing down the winds coming from the north, and that's causing the windier conditions. we're going to warmup because of this. our high pressure will be moving in bringing a lot of sunshine for us. along the beaches, dangerous for small crowds. only experienced are expected to be out there. windy to 10:00 tonight. the wind and surf are going to be high. we have temperatures cooler than average for some neighborhoods. union city 77. heyward, 78. in the east bay, temperatures ao 4 degrees below with 75 in antiochioch and concord. to the north, windy, temperatures in the 70s. here's the 7-day forecast. look at the warmup.

force cilantro to me, i enjoy it because it goes well with so many different cuisines, flavor is incredible. the aroma is out of this world. it's very -- otherwise, [indiscernible] it adds these different recipes will be deleted. let's talk about selection. when you buy it, nice and green all the way around. you're going to be able to smell that cilantro and write it close to your nose and it has to feel nice and fresh throughout. when you bring them home, store them in the refrigerator, but take them out of that plastic bag, put paper towels on them and in the refrigerator and keep them away from moisture. when you have moisture, they will decay sooner, that you don't want.
