game six is tomorrow night in los angeles. in other news now, cbs news has confirmed that the federal grand jury has approved the first criminal charges in robert mueller's investigation into the russian ties in the election campaign. an arrest could come as early as today. hena doba is here in new york. good morning, hena. >> good morning, anne-marie. washington is bracing for what could be a dramatic day in the russian investigation. the president through a series of tweets sunday called the investigation a, quote, witch hunt for evil politics. >> today could be the day an indictment is unsealed in the investigation into possible links between the trump campaign and russia. sources tell cbs news the grand jury has approved charges to be brought. president trump called the probe a witch hunt saying there's so much guilt by democrat, clinton. last week it came to light that democrats helped pay for some of the information in a dossier of

allegations against the president's election team. >> i certainly would have, you know, liked to know who paid for it earlier, but nonetheless, that's just one factor to be considered. it doesn't answer the ultimate question which is how much of the work is accurate, how much of it is true. >> it's still unclear who might be charged and with what. the special counsel has also been investigating financial dealings of trump associates including former trump campaign manager paul manafort and former national security adviser mike flynn. >> i have not yet seen any definitive evidence of collusion. i've seen lots of evidence that the russians were very active in trying to influence the election. >> some republicans like new jersey's governor chris christie wants to know how the indictment was leaked. >> there are certain laws against any of this type of leaking of grand jury activity. >> christie maintains the president himself are not under investigation. >> and some republicans are

calling on mueller to resign questioning his ties to the fbi and james comey. anne-marie? >> hena doba here in new york. thanks so much, hena. ahead we'll hear from amy klobuchar, democrat. actor kevin spacey apologized following allegations that he made sexual advances on a 14-year-old boy. actor anthony rapp now 46 years old says he attended a party at spacey's apartment back in 1986. he says spacey got him on a bed and got on top making sexual advances but he was able to leave before anything happened. spacey tweeted last night he did not remember but if he did , i

apologize for anything i did during drunken behavior. he added publicly he is gay and he wants to deal with this honestly. more than half the east lost electricity as a powerful storm moved up the coast with damaging winds and torrential rains. the storm came five days. years to the day that superstorm sandy hit the region. the national weather service says the severe weather service continues through early this morning. the rain come down in buckets. some areas will be soaked with up to 6 inches. that led to widespread flooding, downed trees, and mother outages. mother and son in new jersey had to be rescued. the storm was fueled by moisture from tropical storm philippe. puerto rico is looking for another company to restore its power grid. the controversial contract with whitefish energy, a small montana company from interior secretary ryan zinke's hometown, has been canceled. about 70% of the island

remains without power more than a month after hurricane maria hit. puerto rico's governor has seen enough. >> i have asked the board of the power authority to invoke the cancellation clause in the contract immediately. >> reporter: puerto rico governor ricardo rossello made the announcement nearly a week after questions were raised about how the small energy company in montana got a $300 million no-bid contract to help rebuild puerto rico's electrical grid. whitefish is located in this little two-bedroom house. it had become the center of attention and too much for the governor. >> it's interfering with everybody and doesn't go against the best interest. that's where i come up with it. >> reporter: three hours after the governor's announcement, they announced that the contract will be canceled, but only after whitefish completes its current work.

>> the contract will be canceled today and it becomes effect active in 30 days. >> reporter: so far whitefish has been paid nearly $11 million, and there's another $9.8 million payment pending. the company which has hired more than 350 people to do the work in puerto rico says it's very disappointing, the decision by the governor asking that the contract be delayed, adding it's what the people of puerto rico want and deserve. if the governor gets his way and the contract is canceled the governor wants to bring in more help from new york and florida. th now, a lot of people have asked how did the whitefish energy company get in contact. the ceo said during an interview he used the social media site linkedin shortly before hurricane maria made landfall. david begnaud, cbs news, los angeles. cbs news confirms two navy

here's look at today's forecast in some cities around the country. italian firefighters came to the rescue of a dog who fell in 80-foot-deep pit. the dog was out on a walk in the woods with his owner when he slipped and fell into the pit.

our top stories this morning, the houston astros took game five of the world series thanks to alex bregman. two-out, walk--off. the astros beat the dodgers, 13-12, and lead the series, three games to two. and cbs news has confirmed that a federal grand jury has approved the first charges in robert mueller's investigation into alleged russian ties to the trump campaign. the sealed indictment could become public as early as today, but it's not known who will be charged. superstorm sandy battered the northeast five years ago. it was the second costliest storm in u.s. history with more than $70 billion in damage.

as elaine quijano reports, half a decade later, many are still struggling. >> reporter: five years after hurricane sandy, residents in breezy point, new york, are still undergoing extensive renovation, are being raised or rebuilt. in 2013, 20,000 are rebuilding their homes. amy peterson, the director of the "build it back" programs says she can only help with half. >> they say it's been cumbersome, confusing, early on there was a lack of communication. what's your response to that? >> sandy was a disaster no one had seen before. it had problems certainly at the start. 189 of 300 homes have been built. 380 out of 800 have been raised. it's five years later. what exactly is taking so long?

>> what's happened, people were able to return to their homes but it was important to elevate their homes and make them safe. we elevate their homes and they'll be safe for the future. four years after the storm, they move out, we elevate their homes, raise their homes, and they'll be safe for the future. >> reporter: new york city councilman mark treyger. >> many don't take into account the neighborhoods. >> reporter: she and her neighbors want action. >> yes, yes. that is the only way we can save our homes. we all had 4'7" inches of water in our living room of sewer, disgusting water from the creeks, from the sewer lines in our homes. the only hope is elevation. insurance is going to be in excess of $150,000 a year. we're on fixed incomes. we will actually lose our homes. >> these folks should not be on their own. we need organizations funded by
