>> reporter: you've got a lot of books, but i don't see a cash register. >> all free. it cuts down on robbery. this is the "cbs evening news." >> mason: and this is our western edition. good evening. i'm anthony mason. first hollywood, then politics. now there are new allegations involving abuse of some of america's top athletes. more than 130 women have accused the u.s. women's gymnastics team have accused former team doctor larry nassar of abusing them. and aly raisman, the two-time captain is coming forward. raisman won six medals in past two summer olympics, three gold. she says she spoke to the f.b.i. about nassar after the 2016 games in rio. nassar worked with the team for more than 20 years. he's now in jail and has pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography, but not to charges of sexual assault. raisman shared her story with dr. jon lapook for "60 minutes." >> you don't want to let

yourself believe-- i-- i am-- i am a victim of sexual abuse. rske it's really not an easy thing to let yourself believe that. >> reporter: you're saying you were sexually abused. e yes, absolutely. >> reporter: by the national team doctor. >> yes. >> reporter: while you were out there representing your country. >> yes. >> reporter: few athletes have represented their country with as much distinction as aly thisman. the doctor she says abused her, larry nassar, "worked with the u.s. women's national team and eshletes at michigan state university for more than two decades. raisman says nassar first t eated her eight years ago when she was 15 years old. now 23, she talks about her experiences in a new book called "fierce." it's the story of a girl who dreamed of going to the olympics and how she managed to get there. raisman says she will not discuss the graphic details of what nassar did to her, but she does provide new insight into a toandal that goes to the highest

level of her sport. eoe told us a lot of people have asked her why nassar's accusers didn't speak up sooner? >> why are we looking at why didn't the girls speak up? why not look at what about the culture? what did u.s.a. gymnastics do and larry nassar do to manipulate these girls so much that they are so afraid to speak up? >> reporter: you're angry. >> i am angry. i'm really upset because it's been-- i care a lot. you know, when i see these young girls that come up to me and ask for pictures or autographs, i just want to create change so they never, ever have to go through this. >> mason: you can see jon's interview with aly raisman sunday night on "60 minutes." alabama senate candidate roy moore today angrily rejected allls to abandon his campaign. he denied allegations that he had sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl and pursued 14ree other teenagers decades ago. chip reid reports tonight from alabama.

punishment and have often lashed out at their accusers. now, institutions from hollywood to corporate america and the senate are learning how to listen to women who are making these accusations. and what romney is essentially doing is applying that new standard. saying you don't need absolute doof. you is can have a certain amount of evidence, he's seen the evidence and he says it meets the test. >> mason: what exactly are the republicans' options now, john. >> reporter: they're exercising them differently. we have seen different senators who have withdrawn their endorsements. john mccain saying he should drop out. the big challenge for washington republican leaders is they don't want to rush to judgment but they also don't want to be the party defined by the most outrageous allegations against one of their members, and they really want nothing to do with hae alabama republicans who have said even if these allegations are true about moore's relationship with a 14-year-old girl, they'd still vote for him ubt there are also republicans like steve bannon, who agree ath moore and want to use this

hack into a boeing 757 parked at the airport in atlantic city, rtw jersey. speaking at a conference this week, robert hickey of the department of homeland security, said his team used typical stuff that could get through security and hacked into the aircraft's systems using radio frequency communications. >> we are so dependent upon computers to operate everything. >> reporter: mark rosenkerr is the former chair of the national transportation safety board. >> we've got a real crisis here, it seems to me, that must be looked at to guarantee that we have the ability to prevent cyber hacking from happening. >> reporter: the 757 hasn't been in production since 2004, but the aging work horse is still being flown by major airlines like united, delta, and american. president donald trump's personal jet is a 757. the classified d.h.s. testing followed a 2015 incident where a passenger told the f.b.i. he .bined control of a plane's engine by hacking into the teight's entertainment system.

'boys club culture is stopping them from running for top union jobs. good evening, i'm veronica de la cruz. women muni operators are fighting back. they claim a boys club culture is stopping them from running for top union jobs. >> new at 6:00, muni workers say they are fighting a clear case of gender bias. the women claim that they were unfairly disqualified from running for office. devin fehely spoke to the women who think that it is time for some change. >> reporter: these employees believe they are victims of discrimination and targets of a concerted effort to keep them out of the election and out of positions of authority in the union. >> me -- we are more than qualified to do the job. >> reporter: they have nearly 60 years combined experience. when the three women and two others tried to run for leadership positions in the union all five ran into an

unexpected roadblock. >> they disqualified five out of six women and i feel that it is a little bit biased and there is some discrimination. >> reporter: the union says candidates are required to be in good standing, current on their dues as well as having attended half the monthly meetings over the past year in order to run for office. two of the women missed several months of work one after a car accident and the other after surgery but both say they should not stop them from running. >> i think it is because i'm a woman. there have been five women disqualified. i think it is because i'm a woman. >> reporter: they have filed an appeal saying they did not get as far as they have by taking no for an answer. >> we are strong and knowledgeable. we are movers and shakers and we get the job done and they know it. >> reporter: we made several attempts today to get in contact with top leadership in the union but they did not return our repeated phone calls and email
