force a four-point- seven earthquake just shook north we begin with some breaking news. a 4.7 earthquake shook northeast of gonzalez.

we're told people in san jose and the santa clara area felt it. we'll keep you posted on injuries now to the weather, concerns in the wine country -- i'm michelle griego. >> i'm kenny choi. let's take a look across the bay area. dark clouds across the peninsula and blue skies to the south and east. emily turner is tracking showers. >>reporter: it was a wet start and our week isn't going to dry out. taking a look to our high depth doppler. the green is the showers that we're talking about. zooming into the north bay, you can see there's a lot of rain right now over ped lou that moving through santa rosa. heavy showers there actually zooming in closer to santa rosa in the fire areas. you can see more rain storms. our totals as far as rainfall is concerned,

7/10th of an inch. going down from there, we're expecting more throughout the day because the showers are going to continue through the afternoon and pickup wednesday after a dry out. the forecast has some people in wine country worried the rain could cause more problems above ground and below. kpix5 jessica flores is what crews are watching for below the surface. crews are putting these cameras down the storm drain to look at miles and miles of pipes and the camera will show them the damage. it's below the fountain grow community have spotted areas where the -- as the rain rolls through, santa rosa city officials worry the weekend ground could collapse. >> we're concerned about sinkholes as well as in areas where that could cause or contribute to landslides or flooding. so we're trying to assess that and where we have

immediate issues taking action. >> where the devastation above ground is clear, underground damage is harder to track. more than ten crews are assessing the damage today after a sinkhole opened up in the area over the weekend. another layer of complications to an already devastated area. for those residents here that did he is skate fire damage to their properties, they're told to be prepared to evacuate once again. >> there's been a lot of uncertainty about this, and i think this is new territory for everybody. nobody's been through this before. this is a magnitude no one has seen before. >> crews haven't spotted any damaged pipe underneath homes. the damage they have found is under roadways. reporting in santa rosa, i'm jessica flores, kpix5. today is the deadline for sonoma county and napa -- homeowners are opting out and doing it themselves or using private companies. new at noon, city of san

carlos is looking to temporarily block stores that sale firearm and ammunition from opening up. this could disrupt plans for one business. >>reporter: turners outdoorsman, it's a store with 20 other locations and although the sign says this one is opening in november of 2017, it's actually now on hold as they wait to see how the city council votes tonight. >> we've had two mass shootings in the united states and naturally that makes reasonable people very, very concerned about what's going on in this community. >> council tells are considering the adoption of an urgency ordinance imposing a temporarily moratorium on new retail establishments selling ammunition or fire it arm in the city of san carlos. they filed the paperwork for permits. it was on track to open until residents asked the city to reconsider. permits so far haven't been issued.

council member mark says he's been getting hundreds of e-mails about the topic. >> most from community members is please do what you can to stop the store from opening and regulate it more carefully. people have scared about the per pencity for mass gun violence. >> he says the city may put a limit on the number of firearm stores in this city or add extra reviews they have to go through. he says san carlos limits the number of nail salons and bank branches in the downtown area. this is a hot button issue and it's up tonight at the city council meeting at 7:00. in san carlos, sandra osborne, kpix5. >> we reached out to the nra and we have not heard back. spokesperson for the sports goods store will be at the meeting tonight. crews are putting out hot spots after this two-story house

caught fire in an unincorporated area. the person living in the home on mountain view escaped. the cause of the fire is under investigation. firefighters say they noticed a power line had fallen on the house. construction begins today on a big project for pg&e. the company is helping to electrify cal tran. it will start in san bruno and they're replacing power poles and most of the work done between 8:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. they want to electric few -- the u.s. supreme court agreed to hear a freedom of speech case from california. the justices will decide if a state law requiring pregnancy centers to post contraceptive services violates free speech rights. this is the first time the supreme court will hear an abortion case since the -- more sexual harassment claims are rocking the state

capitol. anne mack vick explains how lawmaker was handling the new cases. >>reporter: tony mendosa is facing new sexual harassment allegations. they come from two women who used to work in his office. one, an intern in 2008. her name is jennifer quartz . she said she was just 18 -- he got her alone in his suite and supplied her with alcohol and made her so uncomfortable, she [indiscernible] to fly home. mendosa's office said the allegations are false. there's a legal team investigating sexual harassment and recommend discipline. it will be up to the victims whether or not the results will be made public. the way it is now, sexual harassment complaints are handled by the senate rule's committee and the rules are under wraps. >> there's a probation of -- >> kristine is the chair of the

california democratic party women's caucus in sacramento and she's calling for the release of the names of all lawmaker who's have found to have sexually harassed their coworkers. >> as a voter you deserve to know if the person who is asking you for a vote is an up stand error perpetrator. >> the amortizations against mendosa will be reviewed by the -- new at noon, a second woman is accusing alabama senate candidate roy moore of sexual misconduct when she was a minor. mcconnel is urging him to step aside. >> this is an example of fake news. >>reporter: moore says he's going to sue the washington post in its reports where four women claims sexual relationships with him when they were teenagers and

around pedaluma, you're seeing heavy rain toward sonoma and moving eastward and further north, this is actually where much -- much of this area is where the fires were. you're seeing significant rainfall as well at the moment. rain totals are going to climb throughout the day as the showers continue. you can see san francisco 64 degrees, warming up in the south bay, 70 degrees in san jose. 68 degrees in concord. our satellite and radar shows this low pressure system that's moved in. it has brought a lot of rain to the pacific northwest and kicking off these showers down here which is what we're seeing today going into the evening hours. you can see the showers in the northern part of the bay. clouds pretty much everywhere else and moving into the afternoon hours. those showers meaning the green is going to start to move out of the way. those clouds are going to clear moving into tomorrow by the afternoon hours. it should be mostly clear or a mix of sun and clouds depending where you are, but watch this. going into wednesday, and the morning and

toward the afternoon, green comes back into the forecast and this looks to be a much bigger rain storm than the ones we're seeing out. things to remember. today we have an afternoon shower with some chances of showers in the evening. tomorrow, a brief break with a mix of sun and clouds followed by a wetter storm on the hills of wednesday. sunset tonight, 4:59. sunrise, 6:49 and our high temperature is moderate. 7 -- 61 degrees in pacifica. concord 66 degrees. our 7-day outlook. you can see the showers today. drying out tomorrow. breezy before that. a big round of rain moves in turning into showers on thursday. best day of the week is friday, before saturday the clouds move back in, and rain returns on sunday. we'll be right back after this.
