away from red bluff near corning. it's called -- details on how those progressed are still unclear, but officers say the shooter was randomly picking targets. there were at least 7 scenes where shots were fired including an elementary school, rancho t -- parents were kept behind this road block as the news came out this morning finding out that children are among the injured. and we heard from a man who says he's the neighbor the gunman. >> the neighbor has been shooting rounds of magazines and we've just -- we've made it aware that this guy has been crazy, and he's been threatening us. >> he says his roommate is among the dead. he identified the gunman as a felon in his 50s. at least 7 people have been hospitalized including three

minors and a sheriff's deputy says many were sent -- >> that's the only information i have. it's a sad day for us in tehamn county. >> there's 100 law enforcement officers processing the scenes according to the sheriff's -- the airport were on lock down this morning. the school wazee vac waited by bus. we're working to gather more details on these series of shootings and we're going to keep you posted on kpix5. a bay area couple is take legal action after their son was thrown from a water slide in the east bay. jessica flores is live in dublin where a lawsuit was filed a short time ago. jessica. >>reporter: kenny, we are in front of the wave water park. this is a city owned water park that opened in may. this is the lawsuit filed against the water pack.

the city that owns and operates the park, and also the state of california and the manufacturer of this slide in question. it claims negligence, also emotional distress and the family is asking for $2.5 million. you can see that boy flying off that three-story flight. it's called the emerald plunge. he hits the pavement and tumbles onto the concrete. it happened 90 minutes into the grand opening of the water park. the family released pictures of the injuries and you can see the scrapes and burns covering the boy's body and the city and state didn't do enough to protect the kids at the park. that the height requirements were off and the slide had design problems and the family filed a $25,000 claim with the city. but the family's lawyer says the city didn't respond so the family is suing and the parents say it was a that matter experience. >> i couldn't get to him fast enough. i wanted to fly. i wanted to have an

out of body experience where i could swoop him up, but instead i watched him tumble on the ground at a rapid speed. it was frightening. i didn't know he was going to get up and we took him to the first aid station and knew right away the park was not equipped to manage the recovery or injury of a child. >> the city says the manufacturer and state regulators tested and approved the slide before it opened and in a statement the city says the city and its legal representatives tried to reach a settlement with the family, however the family's lawyer refused to provide injuries -- we asked the lawyer about that city's claim, the lawyer says he did provide the city with the pictures and information regarding the boy's injuries. the family says they hope this lawsuit sparks more regulations at water parks and the city, and

state have 30 days to respond. in dublin, i'm jessica. a series of lawsuits were filed against pg&e on behalf of the victim of the wine country and joining is san francisco mayor jordan. he and his fire fled the fires -- failures by pg&e contributed to the destruction tifb and deadly wild fires but the investigation is ongoing. damage from the fires have totalled more than $3 billion. new at noon, a san jose group is calling out the university's president. sandra osborne has the story. >> i was travelling on university business and she's [indiscernible] and she's not meeting with you herself. >>reporter: students won the first victory in their cause. the university president chief of staff met with a group saying she's looking into their sweat shop concerns. >> we only think it's right to

a gorgeous day. blue skies over san hoe jose. -- san jose. right now 66 in con ford. 66 in san jose. there's an area of low pressure moving in tomorrow. we're getting a short break in the rain between the two systems. this one though is going to make more of a direct hit so because of that we're going to see more rain, pretty impressive rainfall totals. future cast points the picture for you. dry today, but here we are tomorrow morning. this is just beginning in the morning commute. we see the showers up north for the north bay spreading south, take a look at this moderate to heavy rainfall. we're for the evening commute. passing through the central portion of the bay area and then sinking south. here we are midnight thursday, notice the oranges and reds. this is some definitely heavy rainfall for folks in the south bay overnight tonight. looking at gusty winds with this system. we could see wind gust upwards of 50
