passengers booked on american airlines seeing red this christmas and pilots seeing good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at c weather s news headquarters here in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. president trump is brushing off criticism after he retweeted anti-muslim videos from a right wing british group. following a rebuke from the prime minister, mr. trump in a tweet wrote, don't focus on me. focus on the destructive radical islamic terrorism that is taking place within the united kingdom. we are doing just fine. the videos come from an obscure group called britain first. but the president trump dramatically increased its visibility. the deputy leader tweeted god bless trump. mark phillips has more on jada franzen. >> reporter: she's an admitted agitator from the far right on

the fringe of british politics. provoking people is what she does. now donald trump has done jayda fransen a huge favor. >> was this a huge favor for you? >> very good indeed. >> reporter: the president retweeted three old videos fransen had dug up. one shows extremists throwing somebody off a roof. it turned out to be a fight between rival political factions in egypt and a crime for which the perpetrators were sentenced to death. another showed a jihadist fighter destroying a christian statue, and a third showed an islamic man attacking a dutch man on crutches. it turns out they were both born and bred in holland. the issue is clear. >> islam has threatened the world for far too long. >> reporter: that says white

house spokesperson sarah huckabee sanders says is why the president did what he did. >> reporter: fransen could not have had a better follower than donald trump. she is normally seen by about 60,000 followers, the president's retweets increased her audience to over 40 million. no wonder she wrote "god bless trump and thanks." others were furious including the husband of jo cox, who was shot last year. >> they have never had a recruiting sergeant like the russ before. >> and the criticism from the highest levels of the british government was blunt as well. the prime minister spokesman simply said it is wrong for the president to have done this. mark phillips, cbs news, london.

we're learning more about the allegations of sexual misconduct that cost nbc's matt lauer his job. lawyer is the biggest fish to fry in a wave of accusations running through the media, hollywood, and politics. more women are accusing matt lauer. current management was never made aware of matt's conduct. hena doba is here in new york. good morning. >> good morning, anne-marie. amid these accusations some are wondering how big of a hit the network will take as a result of this scandal. as nbc lit the rockefeller christmas tree last night more details were emerging about the most noticeable face not part of the broadcast. earlier in the day "today" show host matt lauer became arguably the biggest celebrity to lose his job in the wake of a sexual

misconduct scandal. "variety" magazine and "the new york times" report that a person who came forward began at the 2014 sochi olympics. they go on to report additional cases including exposing himself and sending explicit text messages. >> i think you can understand why the women felt like they could. connell forward without facing repercussions with their career. >> reporter: "the new york times" say there are now allegations from at least two more women. one claims he sexually assaulted her inside his nbc office back in 2001. >> this is as big as it gets. it's the biggest scalp in terms of this national reckoning over alleged and in some cases admitted sexual misconduct. >> reporter: in what seems like an ironic bit of foreshadowing, this is an interview lauer did with bill o'reilly when he was faced with allegations. >> you were the guy that the ratings and the revenues were

built on. you cared that network on your shoulders. >> reporter: lauer had been with nbc for 20 years and the highest personality pulling in around $20 million a year. lauer has yet to comment on the allegations against him. anne-marie. >> hena doba here in new york. thank you very much, hena. the house has joined the senate in requiring sexual harassment training for all members and staff. the resolution easily passed yesterday. lawmakers and staff will undergo the training in each congress. there's also a bipartisan push to prevent lawmakers from using government funds to settle with accusers. republican senate candidate roy moore was back on the campaign trail. moore was briefly interrupted by a heckler last night who wanted to know why the women who accuse him of sexual harassment would be lying. moore says the allegations are dirty politics. he claims to be leading in the race despite the best efforts of democrats and the washington establishment.

aggressi aggressi aggression, and if war comes, make no mistake, the north korean regime will be destroyed. >> the representative from south korea looked on as haley urged. >> reporter: on tuesday north korea launched a new love-range missile similar to the ones tested in july. the dictator claims the powerful missile could hit anywhere in the u.s. including washington, d.c. >> president trump called chinese president xi this morning we've come to a point china must cut off the oil to north korea. >> reporter: just last week they cut off sanctions. secretary of state rex tillerson is still pushing for a diplomatic exclusion solution but says the u.s. is look. while kim claims his country has achieved its goal of becoming a rocket power, it's unknown

whether the new missile could actually support a nuclear warhead and survive re-entry into the earth's atmosphere. north korea has launched 20 missiles so far this year. mola lenghi, cbs news, the white house. >> and now to the investigation into possible coordination between russia and the campaign. the president's son-in-law jared kushner has been questioned by the special counsel robert mueller and the investigators. it's reported that flynn is cooperating with mueller's investigation. meanwhile prosecutors postponed grand jury investigation related to flynn's private business dealings. the reason for that is unclear. and the senate could start voting on a tax reform bill by this evening. the senate voted to begin debate yesterday. a proposal to automatically raise taxes if the tax package doesn't grow the economy is opposed by conservatives. yesterday in missouri, president trump made another appeal for the gop package. coming up on the morning news now, hitting home.

opec leaders will meet today. on wall street the loss weighed heavily. nasdaq which suffered its biggest day's losses. the dow rallied 103. the s&p 500 was nearly unchanged. the nasdaq rose 3 points. a glitch in the airliner's program allowed too many to take vacation. that means some 15,000 american flights are at risk of being cancelled. they say reserve pilots will be able to fly most of the flights and is officers premium pay for pilots who fly certain routes. amazon is expands its program alexa into the workplace. they plan to introduce alexa to businesses today. amazon has added new features to make alexa a better get for the office including the ability to make calls and check security camera feeds.

stormy months. >> reporter: 2017 was the most expensive hurricane season on record, and no one knows that better than houston resident emilio gutierrez. >> i'm broke, i'm broke. >> reporter: gutierrez like millions of other hurricane victims across the country was displaced both physically and emotionally. >> this is a nightmare that came true for me. >> reporter: a nightmare of the season that brought 17 named storms, ten of them hurricanes. for the first time ever, three reached category 4 status. harvey in texas, irma in florida, and maria in puerto rico. the death toll from the 2017 atlantic storms now stands at 438, although, the actual number may be even higher. they say the storms that came ashore this past season cost more than $200 billion.

our top story this morning, president trump's decision to retweet videos has triggered a wave of criticism. british prime minister theresa may says it was wrong for the president to have done this. and no word from matt lauer after nbc fired the long-time "today" show host following an great lakes of inappropriate sexual behavior. nbc news says the complaint outlined a clear violation of company standards. additional cases of alleged sexual misconduct by lauer have been reported by "variety" magazine and "the new york

times," including that lauer sent explicit text messages. one of the first people to publicly comment on the accusations against matt lauer was president trump who's also been accused of sexual misconduct. margaret brennan has more. >> because this is a sad morning here at "today" and at nbc news. >> reporter: the president's response came just 15 minutes after nbc's stunning announcement. wow, mr. trump tweeted. matt lauer was just fired from nbc for inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace. what the president didn't mention was that more than a dozen women have accused him of sexual misconduct. last october in the final weeks of the presidential campaign summer zervos claims she had been repeatedly harassed by president trump in 2007. she was a contestant on his nbc show requethe apprentice. >> i tried to push him away. i put my hands on his chest to push him away and said, come on, man, get real.

>> earlier this fall attorneys served mr. trump a subpoena to preserve all documents. that he subjected any woman to unwanted sexual touching or sexually inappropriate behavior. the president's lawyers fought the request. throughout the campaign then candidate trump dismissed the allegations. >> the events never happened. never. all of these liars will be sued after the election is over. >> reporter: but mr. trump not followed through on that threat. one of his accusers told us she never believed he would sue. white house press secretary sarah sanders in late october. >> is the official white house position that all these women are lying? >> yeah. we've been clear from the beginning. and the president's spoken on that. >> reporter: the president may also be trying to distance himself from the infamous "access hollywood" tape. one particular ally says the president has privately cast doubt on whether it was his voice on the nbc recording even though he publicly apologized for it. >> this was locker room talk.
