the scene with the very latest. jackie. >> reporter: kenny, i'm at ingles and gilman in the bayview neighborhood and i want to show you what's happening right now. you can see one man is being taken into custody. when we got to the scene, three suspects were in custody. police have yet to confirm that. i have talked to a few people who live in the neighborhood. this may have started out as a robbery with multiple suspects. somehow, the police caught up to these suspects and they fled. police fired at least one of the suspects. again, police have not confirmed any of these details. the sfpd mobile emergency operations center is here and it's still very active as this just happened a little bit ago. we are waiting to hear details

latest online and on the air. back to our other top story today. the guilty plea from michael flynn. let's get right to reporter weijia jang. >> reporter: as part of the plea agreement, michael flynn is now cooperating in the russia investigation. and already providing new details about who else knew what and when. of course, these are all critical details the special counsel's office needs to bring even more charges. michael flynn was in court in washington this morning pleading guilty to making false statements to the fbi. cbs news has confirmed that he is prepared to testify trump transition officials directed him to make contact with russian. special counsel robert mueller is investigating whether anyone in president trump's campaign colluded with russia during the

2016 election. according to court of documents, flynn did willfully and knowingly make false statements about his contact with sergey kislyak in january. he accepted responsibility saying: flynn is the latest person to be charged in the fbi investigation into russian interference in the 2016 presidential election but he is the first one to work inside the trump white house. in october prosecutors charged trump's former campaign chairman paul manafort. his deputy rick gates and campaign adviser george papadopoulos as part of the probe. the white house has repeatedly maintained neither president trump nor anyone in his campaign has ever colluded with russia.

the president ignored requests for comment. the white house attorney issued a statement saying: >> reporter: court papers make clear that flynn has pointed to at least two members of president trump's transition theme were aware of his relationship with the russians. prosecutors have not identified those two people. but they indicated they were in president trump's inner circle. live in washington, weijia jang, kpix 5. the news of the flynn plea sank the financial markets. they have regained some ground since. but right now, you can see a live look at the big board showing the dow down about 86 points! senate leaders say that they have the votes now to pass a sweeping tax bill. mola lenghi on the changes that

are converting more republicans. >> reporter: senators got back to work this morning hammering out the gop's tax overhaul bill. this after a long night of debate and then a republican rewrite behind closed doors. the bill will add another $1 trillion to the deficit over 10 years. but most republicans don't buy it. >> i think the jpp scoring is questionable. >> reporter: but a few gop deficit hawks like tennessee's bob corker want to cut the bill's price tag. he is backing an idea to roll back some of the tax cuts after six years.they say the bill will pay for itself. they say large corporations need a tax cut to complete globally stimulating economic growth here in the u.s. some corporations have already indicated their tax savings

would not necessarily lead to increased wages or job creation creation. >> we should mention more money goes to line top executive pockets in terms of more incentives. >> reporter: but republicans say while the bill is imperfect, it's important to take advantage of the momentum. no democrats support the bill. mola lenghi, cbs news, capitol hill. >> president trump wants the bill on his desk before christmas. right now, a memorial in san francisco for murdered kate steinle. the illegal immigrant on trial for her murder was acquitted. kpix 5's jackie ward reports. >> reporter: the people who work and live in san francisco are still come to terms with the verdict. >> feels like the verdict could have been more harsh. that's for our politicians to look at and how they handle occasions like that. someone might have dropped the ball on the prosecution side.

>> looking at it and, you know, about the gunpowder and that part right there is kind of what made me have doubts of the intent. >> reporter: and putting themselves in the jurors' shoes. >> i wasn't sitting in the jury box. i imagine those people are having deep thoughts over their coffee this morning. >> reporter: a group called identity europa set up this memorial for kate steinle at pier 14 decorating it with flowers, candles and messages that say, build the wall and that kate's death will be avenged. jose ines garcia zarate a man who previously been deported five times and a felon was acquitted of both murder and manslaughter. he was only found guilty of being a felon in possession of a firearm. this morning, the white house released a statement saying in part: jackie wardjackie ward, kpix 5. after the verdict was announced, the president tweeted this:

district near fitzgerald and jennings street. kpix 5's jackie ward is live at the scene with the latest. >> reporter: it ended at gilman and ingles. we have a view from the ground. but from chopper 5 you can see that the window of one of the cop cars is blown out. so we are still learning a lot of information here right now. still a lot of questions. we saw three men in handcuffs. i started talking to people who live around here. they heard this began a little while ago not that long ago. a few blocks from here again not sure of the intersection and it started off as a robbery. somehow the police caught up to the suspects, shot and hit at least one of them. we are unsure of that person's condition right now and police have yet to confirm any of these details. so right now only going on what

people are telling me in the neighborhood. but here on gilman, there's construction work that temporarily paused but it seems to have revealed no problems. this area continues to be shut down though. people are being asked by police to avoid the area of fitzgerald avenue between jennings and griffith because of all the police activity and they also have -- the police have their mobile emergency emergencies operations center here on scene. we are just now starting to understand this investigation. we'll bring you details as we learn them. >> thank you. this weekend the city of oakland will be honoring the 36 people who died in the ghost ship warehouse. tomorrow marks a year since the fire at the ghost ship warehouse fire. the chapel of the chimes will be open all weekend long as a place for people to reflect on the tragedy. new at noon, gunfire from an assault rifle caught on video and now an oakland man

faces charges. kpix 5's jessica flores talked to a neighbor about the frightening moment. >> reporter: the evidence markers are still all around this north oakland house. you can see where the gunman allegedly sprayed dozens of bullets into the home. the homeowner says during the shooting, he was hiding inside. the sounds of gunfire caught on surveillance video still haunt the neighbors who live in the area. you can hear the pause of the gunfire and then moments later the shooter fires dozens more rounds. [ firing ] >> reporter: brad lives in the neighborhood. he says he and his family threw themselves on the floor in their home and waited. >> listened to what i thought was about 100 gunshots. and apparently, somebody had come out and started shooting up his neighbor's house. >> reporter: remarkably, no one was hit. but the home was riddled with bullets.

through at sfo at 10 miles per hour. half moon bay at 8. downtown san francisco 10-mile-per-hour winds. calm across the north bay. here's a look at our afternoon highs. so by 3:00 to 5:00, temperatures will look like this. low 60s, mid-60s, san jose possibly 66. maybe nearing 70 degrees. here's what's happening. high pressure is building across california. so any storms are going to stay to the north to the pacific northwest. the high pressure is basically going to nudge all of that rain that we thought we would get to the northern california-oregon border, tahoe may get a little bit of snow from this system. but that's really all we're going to get. so cloudy conditions this coming weekend. and then by next week, look at that high pressure will be the story. we'll have more sunshine. temperatures will be warmer next week than what we just had. sunset at 4:50. sunrise 7:07. it's that time of year when bay area families are most in

need and organizations are most giving. kpix 5's emily turner is in santa rosa with a special presentation. >> reporter: hey there, i'm emily turner here at the redwood empire food bank joined by jimmy. you have a strong history of giving back to your community. >> yes. we have been doing it since the beginning of time, basically. beginning of our company. 24 years. our owner and his wife had been quite philanthropists for all this time and we have taken the ball and run with it. >> you guys are a local company that's now international. he have taprooms all over. you're doing a fundraiser that combines beer and giving back? >> yes. a dollar from every beer sold at our taprooms is going back to the empire food bank. so everybody out there, get a beer and know you're supporting a good cause. >> you showed up and were here helping, too? >> yeah. last week we brought our marketing team about 50, 60 people, and we did an afternoon and stuffed bags and it was a

try to educate as we move forward. so what happens is that if a dog is not spayed, they can get holes in their uterus a life- threatening situation that the bacteria gets into the bloodstream and they can get toxic and go into shock and die. but as i always say, anytime your pet is not showing signs of normalcy, they are acting different than usual, we want to make sure that we call the veterinarian right away. so one of the things that we do is we want to spay the pet or neuter them. the word for female neutering is spaying. okay? so synonymous. but we wanted to make sure with dogs that we neuter them before they go into heat and with cats we neuter them female cats by eight months of age. >> get on it. as bob barker always said, spay and neuter your pets. >> i didn't know that. >> you must not have watched the price is right! >> if you have a question, we
