i'm kenny choi. in the bay area, people are wasting no time to get their hands on legal pot. the lines forming for hours before the store opened. in san jose, the city's first permitted store opened its doors just hours ago. sandra? >> reporter: hey there, kenny. i actually want to show you that permit on the wall. take a look at that number. a series of 0s -- zeroes then 1. yes, the first permit issued here in san jose. doors didn't open until 9:00 this morning. that's because of san jose's strict regulation. but it has been busy ever since. >> seeing how 40 years ago, i was arrested for selling pot, this is wonderful. laugh >> reporter: customers lined up outside buddy's cannabis in san jose, to get their hands on edible and other marijuana products. >> two lemon tree, one black jack. >> reporter: john lee was the

across america will now have an easier time with diaper changing duty. they must provide diaper changing station accessible to women or men. one of the new laws limits the amount of cooperation between state and local law enforcement and i.c.e. meantime, another law prevents landlords from reporting their undocumented renters. an oakland woman talked about her repairs. >> he realized, my daughter did not have social security number. and find out she was undocumented. he said he was going to report us to i.c.e. if we kept complaining. >> the penalty for landlord to violate the law is the equivalent of 6 to 12 months rent. plus attorney fees. new at noon, police in oakland are looking for the driver who hit and killed a woman and took off. it happened around 5:00 this

morning. the woman was hit near sunny side street and 98t avenue, just a couple of miles away from the oakland zoo. the victim's name has not yet been released. as of now, there's no description of the vehicle. but officers are on the scene, collecting evidence. san jose firefighters were busy battling flames today at an auto body shop. crews responded to the two- alarm blaze. they knocked down flames about an hour ago. the shop is on almaden expressway. no word on injuries. and the cause of the fire is under investigation. a white suv slammed into this 7-eleven store in san leandro. you can see the entrance to the store suffered major damage and products scattered all over the floor. all right. the king tides are rolling in as we begin the new year. which could bring flooding to low-lying areas, like the embarcadero in san francisco. a live look outside. and neda is, of course,
