but first we start with developing news. a deadly home invasion in santa rosa, two homes were invaded. one on melcon lane and the other fulton road. two people were shot, one has died. the suspects were arrested in vallejo. allen martin joins us from the newsroom with a dramatic end. >> reporter: kenny, authorities got the call at about 6:45 this morning. a man was reportedly shot multiple times after masked men broke into his home on melcon lane. first responders tried to revive him but he died from his injuries. the second victim was shot in the house at fulton road. he is expected to survive. kpix 5's da lin is live from where the chase ended and has details. >> reporter: there are three different scenes. i'm at the third and final scene. let me set this thing up for you. you're looking at a van being put on a tow truck right now. this blue van, according to the

sheriff's department, was involved in the two previous robberies over in santa rosa. this crashed into a car at this intersection of couch and redwood street. after this crash, there were apparently five suspects inside the van. the people were arrested after the crash. two people, a man and woman, ran into the neighborhood. so that is where they are searching for the two at large suspects right now. they have s.w.a.t. team members and sheriff's department and they have the vallejo police department and the chp all involved searching this neighborhood for those two suspects. three again are being arrested -- have already been arrested. now, inside this van, there are some stolen guns, actually, still inside this van. they are going to take it into the yard for processing.

let me go back to the first and second scene, okay? first scene over in santa rosa, according to the sheriff's department, there was a home invasion robbery where the suspects went inside the home, tied up some people inside, shot apparently one person, a man, and that man is expected to survive. we don't know what was taken inside from that first house. a few hours later, they went to the second house also in the santa rosa area, again did the same thing, tied up family members or people inside the home, shot and killed a man believed to be in his 30s right there, and then apparently marijuana, um, i'm sorry, not marijuana but guns were taken from the house. and then you have this scene here. live in vallejo, i'm da lin, kpix 5. a deadly collision in berkeley sent an ac transit bus and another vehicle barreling into a home early this morning. kpix 5's jackie ward is live at

the scene where the streets are still shut down. jackie. >> reporter: we're standing on ashby avenue right now right near the intersection where this accident happened. you can see the bus and car involved in the crash are still wedged into the home here on ashby avenue. a 27-year-old female is now dead following this accident and police are still trying to figure out what happened. erica noble says she felt the exact moment this ac transit bus and red honda coup crashed into her neighbor's home. erica said she is hard of hearing and first thought it was an earthquake. >> i felt boom. but i didn't think it was massive. >> berkeley police say the bus -- [ stand by, technical difficulties ]

>> the camera caught the action of the accident on tape. right now, that footage was downloaded and investigators are looking at it. in berkeley, jackie ward, kpix 5. chopper 5 giving us this view of some flaring at the chevron refinery in richmond this morning. richmond fire says that chevron lost a recycled compressor forcing an emergency shutdown with some intermittent flaring. but there is no safety concern right now to residents. there's no rain but there is some flooding in san mateo. a large water main break is causing quite the mess and even a school closure. kpix 5's anne makovec joins us

live from san mateo with the latest. >> reporter: four homes, a school and church are flooded. they are trying to fix this. no estimated time on when they will be able to do it. minimal amount of water coming out of that hole right now here along el camino real. but take a look at our view from chopper 5 earlier morning. you can see the massive amounts of water that they were dealing with. it was a two-foot-wide water main owned by cal water that broke under the sidewalk at about 6:30 a.m. blowing an eight inch hole in the pavement and spewed water at 3,000 gallons a minute. it flooded four homes on aragon boulevard and st. matthew's catholic church and st. matthew's catholic school. damage estimate, unknown. >> so the school was flooded.

it was evacuated. there were some students arrived for early drop-off. the staff was able to quickly evacuate them and get them to the right locations with family members and parents. the school is shut down. >> reporter: she says the damage is extensive. a lot of it is in the school gym. the water is not shut off to this neighborhood but people might experience some low water pressure for the next several hours. pg&e is here. they shut off power and gas to the school. there is a cal water biologist on scene as well to make sure local creeks are protected since all of this is washing into the storm drains. but it's freshwater. so it couldn't be -- it's not going to be much of a concern. as far as what exactly happened, why this water main broke, nobody knows. they are investigating. it was an old pipe built in the 1950s or 1960s. but there was no construction going on in this area. so it looks like it may have just burst underground possibly

found a fun way to introduce under served kids to programming. he learned it in third grade and when he was 13, rushil kapadia was shocked to find that even in silicon valley many students don't get the same chance until high school or college. >> then i was actually, like, wait a minute, i can do something. i can become a volunteer and actually lead the classes. >> reporter: he found the nonprofit "computer programming for all" or cpfa to teach elementary and middle school students coding for free. he developed his own curriculum based on scratch software and principals like dr. nguyen at laurelwood welcomed his expertise. >> he is very passionate about what he wants to do and really get the students here to be passionate also. >> reporter: kids like this 6th grader. >> i wasn't interested in coding until i started coding class. >> reporter: rushil and his volunteers reach more than 200 students in 15 coding clubs. >> seeing all these students
