i am opening myself up for possible danger. >> reporter: president donald trump's personal attorney, michael cohen, admits to paying daniels $100,000 of his own money to stay quiet but an attorney for colin says he lied on 60 minutes and had nothing to do with stormy daniels claim not to talk about the affair. president donald trump denied the affair ever took place. >> the president strongly, clearly, consistently has denied these claims. the only person who has been inconsistent is the one making the claims. >> reporter: but it's the nondisclosure that could do the lasting damage. >> it may create an election violation with the fec. that person who could be in trouble for that is michael cohen as well as the campaign. >> reporter: colon paid daniels just days before the election and that could represent a campaign contribution. president donald trump tweeted this morning, "so much fake news. never more voluminous or inaccurate but through it all, our country is doing great."

some watchdogs are pushing for an investigation of the cohen payment. anne makovec, kpix 5. the oakland a's announcing they want to by the coliseum in a letter to mayor libby schaaf. the team's president says they want to assume control and purchased the alameda county coliseum complex in exchange for $135 million of city and county debt. he told the chronicle, the purchase doesn't necessarily mean the coliseum will be their permanent home. they just don't want anyone else buying it. the howard terminal and the coliseum are the two laces left to build a new ballpark . oakland mayor libby schaaf says, "i am excited to work with the a's and their commitment to stay in oakland with a privately financed ballpark. we look forward to reviewing, analyzing and considering the offer." a bay area member of congress is speaking out about facebook as the company apologizes for its data privacy

within the complex. tomorrow, he will visit the berkeley lab . the trump administration has expelled 60 russian diplomats and ordered the russian consulate to close. a statement released by the white house says the president ordered the explosion and closure due to its proximity to one of the country's submarine bases and blowing. these moves are in response to the poisoning of a former russian double agent and his daughter in england. the trump administration says all 60 russians were spies working in the u.s. under diplomatic cover. the expelled russians have 7 days to leave the country. across the pond, the uk prime minister says 1800, -- 1800 countries have expelled russian officers after the ex- spy attack . authorities in russia have launched a criminal investigation into a fire at a shopping mall that killed at least 64 people, many of which were children. they are still searching for survivors after a roof

the san francisco police commission approved arming officers with tasers but when they can be used and why is still under review. we caught up with interim mayor mark beryl today and asked about his thoughts regarding tasers. >> i said from the beginning when the discussion around tasers came up that i thought it was incredibly important that our officers have a nonlethal option, as part of what they do, and their ability really to ensure public safety on our public streets. the police commission had taken a long time to actually pass a taser policy and during that period of time, a ballot measure was put on to force the issue. at the time, i supported it because this is something that has been talked about for years. >> the police commission approved the tasers in 2017 but held off on deployment until it came up with a policy.

more and more people are using their phones to trap their sleep habits. a new study from the nyu school of medicine looked at using possible phone apps. apps include fitbit, lose it, apple health. the study suggests people who monitor sleep also report good nutrition and exercise habits. one woman who has been tracking her sleep for six years says she has had more restful nights. >> i need to turn off all the screens at least an hour before i go to sleep. having drinks unfortunately helps. having caffeine after 4 pm affects my sleep. >> the study also found that men were more likely to track their sleep. however, doctors caution more research is needed to see how measurements are used. you and i are never getting sleep anyway. new at noon, apple has

i am extremely proud of jackie, gaby and stephanie. we worked with pg&e to save energy because we wanted to help the school. they would put these signs on the door to let the teacher know you didn't cut off the light. the teachers, they would call us the energy patrol. so they would be like, here they come, turn off your lights! those three young ladies were teaching the whole school about energy efficiency. we actually saved $50,000. and that's just one school, two semesters, three girls.
