ago. and today, family and friends are paying their final respects to the 22-year-old father of two. here's a live look at the service going on right now. this service being held at bayside of south sacramento church. that's where famed civil rights activist al sharpton is now. he is going to be delivering the eulogy within the next hour or so. and kpix 5's jessica flores is live now in south sacramento where police are bracing for protests. jessica. >> reporter: that's right. hundreds of people are still lined up here outside bayside boss community church. they are waiting to get into the funeral. more protests are planned later today in the city after tensions have been running high here for 11 days following the police shooting of the unarmed 22-year-old man sparked outrage. al sharpton is delivering the eulogy. he is here and he called the

shooting an atrocity. we have been talking to people here who are grieving and calling for the district attorney to prosecute the two officers involved. now, on march 18th, police say they pursued clark after a call of someone smashing car windows. police released body camera footage showing two officers opening fire shooting at clark 20 times in his grandparents' backyard. they thought he had a gun but only had a cell phone. protests have erupted in sacramento. protestors blocked entrances to two kings games and disrupted city council meetings. police expect more demonstrations today. meanwhile, the family and mourners today are saying they want justice. >> scary for my son because, you know, how the police are out here killing our kids is -- they are scared. they're terrified to be even approached by the police. >> all mothers should get up and stand for peace and love

because our children should not be dying like this. >> reporter: sacramento police union is standing by the two officers involved. and california attorney general xavier becerra will oversee the investigation into the police shooting. al sharpton inside will later deliver a press conference after the funeral and again protests are planned for later today at 3 p.m. in front of the district attorney's office. reporting live here in sacramento, i'm jessica flores, kpix 5. right now, the search continues for three missing children after their family's van plunged off a cliff. the deadly crash happened on highway 1 along the mendocino coast last week. two women and three children were found dead at the scene. among the missing is 15-year- old devante. his photo went viral in 2014 after he hugged a white police officer seen here during a rally in portland. family was from washington state. neighbors say that they had to

call child protective services on the parents after the kids complained of abuse. >> their daughters telling us please, please, begging us not to make her go back because they are abusing us and devante telling us that he is being starved to death. >> in 2011, one woman pleaded guilty in minnesota to domestic assault and according to court records a teacher saw bruises on one of the daughters. the mendocino sheriff says they don't believe this crash was intentional but they are continuing to investigate. tonight, the san francisco police department is holding a town hall meeting to discuss the investigation into a shootout that involved one of their officers. 21-year-old jehad eid was shot and killed last week in the crocker amazon neighborhood. one officer was shot in the leg and is now in fair condition. three other people were hurt. tonight's meeting is at 6:00 at balboa high school. new video this afternoon of a driver being rescued after her car went over a cliff in pacifica.

you can see the vehicle on its side. it happened about 6 p.m. last night. authorities say it veered off the road and landed on mussel rock beach. firefighters and chp were able to reach that driver. she was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition. in hayward, a hotel had to be evacuated this morning because of a fire. firefighters arrived to america's best value inn at 4 a.m. after flames broke out. nobody injuries. he cause is unde r investigation. palo alto police are looking for a suspect after a teenage girl said she was sexually assaulted near arastradero and deer creek road near the tesla headquarters. kpix 5's katie nielsen has the very latest. >> reporter: palo alto police say that the victim was not able to provide them with enough information to create a sketch of the suspect. but investigators today are following up on leads. >> i can assure you that we have all of the resources at our department it's disposal and others from other agencies

actively working on this case to try to locate this suspect and bring him to justice. >> reporter: the high school- aged girl says she was running on the path along arastradero road yesterday afternoon when the man attacked her. >> she was pulled off of the path and into some bushes by an unknown man. the man put a gun to her head and sexually assaulted her and then ran off. >> reporter: today investigators will focus on trying to identify a suspect using the surveillance video from nearby businesses in the industrial park. >> we have actually had a number of tips that have come in from well meaning citizens throwing some ideas out at us and our detectives are looking into all of those. >> reporter: police will be patrolling the area more often over the next few weeks. but people who use the trail say they are still on edge. >> i'm horrified and saddened. it's a community i have lived in for 15 years. i have been a marathon runner for all of those years and this is my regular route. >> reporter: palo alto police are asking for the public's

afternoon. a gas main break. it happened just after 10 a.m. this morning on miller avenue and tooker drive. katie nielsen reports. >> reporter: so if you take a look behind me, you can see all the crews are still here on scene. pg&e as well as the san jose fire department and the police department on scene. what we understand right now is a construction crew was digging in the area just after 10 a.m. and ruptured a 2" high pressure gas line. so what we understand right now is that no one was injured when this happened. but one home was evacuated. ten other homes' residents are told to "shelter in place." there is one preschool at a church that's in this area. they are also telling them to "shelter in place," as well. so right now, pg&e crews are on the scene. they say it could take at least another two hours before

they are able to cap off this gas line and then able to start those repairs. so again, we are at the intersection of miller avenue and tucker drive. and this area is going to be closed to traffic for the next couple of hours as crews repair this. but no one here was injured. and what's interesting is initial reports say the construction crew was using mechanical tools near this gas line. there is a rule in place that says if they are within 2 feet of a gas line, they are supposed to be using hand tools. that will, of course, be part of that ongoing investigation. live in san jose, katie nielsen, kpix 5. more cell phone use has more people driving distracted. according to a new aaa survey, 49% admitted to recently talking on the phone while driving. 35% said that they sent a text or email when they are behind the wheel. >> i can't even say that i don't ever do it. but, you know, occasionally, yeah, i might just look at my phone or something.

>> drivers really have to be aware. anything that takes their hands off the wheel, eyes and attention off the road is a distraction. >> the number of people who admit talking on the phone while driving is way up. every fan looks forward to the first pitch of opening day at the coliseum. a's fans hope this season will be their year finally. jackie ward reports from the stadium. looks like the perfect day to play some ball on opening day. >> reporter: you are not kidding! you cannot beat this situation right now here in the coliseum parking lot. the sun is shining, the weather is absolutely gorgeous. it smells like charcoal from everyone firing up their barbecues. baseball is back! hours before the first pitch and just after the sun came up athletics fans started to take over the coliseum's parking lot. some people have high hopes for this season. >> i hope they win this year. i hope we make it to the play- offs. they need to make the play-

average. we should be in the upper 60s. but it's perfect baseball weather. and it's going to feel pretty nice no matter where you go across the bay area. clear skies, definitely going to be a gorgeous day. plenty of sunshine though, so keep that sunblock close. 76 right now in concord. oakland 65. 73 in livermore. san francisco 73. santa rosa 74 degrees. so our temperatures are going to be 15 degrees above average for most of the bay area. normally low to upper 60s. look at how much warmer it's going to get across the south bay, temperatures will reach the mid-80s for several locations for a lot of these cities, these could be record breakers. palo alto 81 degrees. 79 in mountain view. san jose 84. morgan hill also 84. your afternoon highs in the east bay low to mid-80s. so get ready, it's going to feel warm in the next few hours. dublin 81. and around the bay temperatures in the upper 70s. sausalito 77. san rafael 81. wine country temperatures in the low to mid-80s. st. helena could reach 85 degrees. so by tomorrow morning we'll know the official records that

have r today. sunset tonight at 7:29. sunrise tomorrow morning at 6:57. so that is going to be a beautiful view of that sunset and sunrise. and here's a look at why it's so hot. today is the hottest day of the week because of this ridge of high pressure right over california. so the entire state is feeling the heat and all the moisture is moving well to the north. so canada is getting a little bit of precipitation but eventually some of that will dip down, not until this weekend. look at the beach, plenty of people hitting the beach. check the water temperatures, low to mid-50s at ocean beach so still need a full wet suit but it's a perfect day to go for a little walk or up to lake tahoe. look at the pretty skies there. there's the lake. looks like the camera spot froze. but skiers are out there, this is a live camera and homewood showing just how pretty it is. here's the base at tahoe. so they definitely got a lot of snow. miracle march, 121 inches now at north star. it is going to be sunny so the drive up to squaw valley will be fine. you don't have to worry about

can happen to anybody. >> reporter: so the former tech startup project manager quadrupled the size of the kitchen. as a result, meal service soared from 75,000 a year to nearly half a million. and its reach extends beyond san jose. board president ray flowers says the kitchen is cooking and delivering free meals to more than 40 nonprofits reaching into east palo alto, salinas, santa cruz and the san joaquin valley. >> she gets out and talks to people and convinces partners that they should be helping more. she has really been the driving force of martha's kitchen. >> reporter: sacred heart school's president calls edita a problem solver. >> she sees possibility in the world where we can see a lot of barriers. >> reporter: she never another guess how she and her -- forgets how she and her husband were laid off from their tech jobs in 2001. >> we were so close to homelessness. it's hard to imagine. >> reporter: so her joy is
