>> and i'm anne makovec. the man was detained last october when he dropped his daughter off at day care. >> reporter: his family anxiously waited outside the doors of the san francisco ice headquarters. they had not hugged him for six months until today. since october, his family thought fernando carrillo might be deported. immigration agents picked him up in san jose as he took his daughter to day care. he has been deported before and has a drunk driving conviction on his record. still the judge is allowing him to stay in the u.s., granting a withholding of removal order after he proved he would be persecuted if returned to mexico. his three children and wife are u.s. citizens. he says now he can stay, work, and is not fearful to be deported. >> i cannot describe it in

on campus. new details on a trash that killed an entire family on the mendocino coast. it may have been intentional according to investigators. the family's suv came to a complete stop before accelerating straight off the cliff and down to the rocks below. the speedometer was pinned at 90 miles per hour but investigators do not believe that the car was travelling that fast. sarah and jennifer hart were killed along with three of their adopted children who died at the scene. the couple's three other kids are still missing. their neighborhoods in washington state called authorities just days before the tragedy fearing for the children's welfare. a sacramento sheriff's deputy is accused of hitting a woman with his suv as people protested the shooting of stephon clark. the sacramento sheriff's department released a statement claiming protesters were pounding and kicking their vehicles and the collision occurred as their van moved to

avoid being vandalized. officials say the woman was treated for minor injuries. she was among hundreds wloo took to the streets on -- who took to the streets on friday night. the autopsy showed that stephon clark was shot eight times by police. there was a bill introduced this week that would require the disclosure of investigations of serious use of force, including police shootings. supporters say it is necessary because people have a roit to know how law enforcement treats the cases. and opponents argue that the records should remain silent to protect officer's safety. a deadly crash involving the new model x tesla in the bay area, the company is now facing criticism about how it is handling the fatal crash investigation. >> reporter: the ntsb released a statement just yesterday saying it is unhappy with tesla for releasing information about the

investigation. this is what is left of a new model x tesla after it crashed into a freeway barrier on highway 101 on march 23. the car was in autopilot mode, killing the driver, 38-year-old walter wayne. no action was taken by the action who had several visual and audible hands on warnings, and the driver's hands were not detected on the wheel for six seconds prior to the collision, according to tesla. the ntsb responded with their own statement saying tesla has been cooperative with vehicle data but they are unhappy with the release of investigative information by tesla. wayne's family said he complained to the company about the car veering towards the freeway barrier in the past while on autopilot mode.

tesla says they do not have records of that complaint, and he only brought up issues with the navigation system. >> their stock prices is falling, they have had a fatal automobile accident. all of these things are combining to give tesla a black eye. >> reporter: another issue? they are recalling 23,000 model s sedans made before april 2016 for potential problems with the power steering bolts. ?a i don't think >> i don't think it is that big of a deal. it comes on the heels of somany other things that tesla has been facing. >> reporter: the stock dropped to the lowest it has been in almost a year for tesla. the clean up continues today in one of santa rosa's most hardest hit neighborhoods.

pg&e crewerize expected to build new gas and electric lines after much of the underground equipment was destroyed during last year's fires. crews will also install approximately 15 miles of new gas mains and service lines. despite the recent storms, california's snow pack is still far below normal. the department of water resources took their latest survey just a little while ago. they found that the snow in the siera measured a depth of 32.1 inches. the water content which is what really counts measured 12.4 inches. that is just 49% of the longterm average for this time of year. the vast majority of that much needed snow came in march. pg&e is rolling out a new rate plan, changing the way some customers are billed for electricity, ahead what you need to know to get to best deal at home. >> and one of the oldest traditions at the white house, next, highlights of this year's

flags. they were flapping pretty hard there but now things have calmed down a lot. here is the flag by the golden gate bridge. that seems to be encouraged a little bit by the west winds. we see a west breeze going on around the coastline today and that is keeping things pretty cool. the coastal temperatures will be pretty normal. look at all of the people out here enjoying the beach. it is 62 in livermore and oakland is at 61. concord is near 70. santa rosa is already at 71. here is a look at the winds. earlier today, it was around 20 to 25 miles per hour. gusts have been around 30 at the coastline throughout the morning hours. it seems to be calming down a little bit. pretty calm through nappy and fairfield. here is a look at the satellite radar. there is a lot of clearing going on after the clouds this morning. most of the clouds are moving further south and just a few thin clouds is all you will see
