trump blasted amazon while lawmakers call for government oversight of facebook. >> reporter: facebook's issues stem from the allegation they shared 50 million users personal data with a research company working for president trump during the 2016 presidential election. >> my belief is people had to have known when they picked that data up. it shouldn't be out there. >> reporter: senator dianne feinstein made the comments yesterday saying she's looking forward to an interesting conversation with facebook ceo mark zuckerberg during a senate committee hearing into the matter next week. >> i think they're going to have to be some controls and i said, you know, if you don't control your platform, we're going to have to do something about it. >> another tech giant is also facing criticism from washington today. president trump doubled down on his attacks on amazon. he tweeted just a few hours ago, i am right about amazon

costing the united states post office massive amounts of money for being their delivery boy. amazon should pay these costs and not have them born by the american taxpayer. >> the president's attacks on amazon are making investors nervous about the ecommerce company which has seen unbridled growth until now. >> reporter: trump's attacks started saturday morning during a tweet storm where he wrote the u.s. post office will lose 1.50 on average for each package it delivers for amazon. a cityand should be revised. >> reporter: epa chief scott pruitt is not only rolling back the obama era plans to make cars more fuel efficient, he's also setting up a legal show down with california. under the clean air act, california has a waiver that allows the state to set its own emission standards. but the trump administration is threatening to revoke the waiver. california governor jerry brown says the ep a's decision will poison our air and jeopardize the health of all americans.

and state attorney general javier bassera tweets they could file suit if needed to protect the state standards. we spoke to residents driving fuel efficient cars and gas guzzlers, with rising gas prices, they want fuel efficient cars. pruitt says the epa will now go through a process to determine new mpg standards. in oakland, jessica flores, kpix 5. and just a few hours ago, president trump announced that he wants to use the military to protect the u.s. mexico border. during a meeting with the baltic leaders, the president stated that quote, we're going to be doing things militarily until we can have a wall and property security. 7 jurors have been picked in bill cosby's sexual assault retrial. it will eventually consist of 12 jurors and 6 alternates, the 80-year-old is charged with drugging and molesting a woman at his suburban philadelphia home in 2004. cosby's first trial ended in a

hung jury. in sacramento, assembly members are holding a press conference about a proposed bill that would change the current reasonable force rule to a necessary force standard when police open fire. that legislation is a first for california. >> law enforcement is charged with protecting and serving all communities. at times, the use of deadly force is used at a terrible cost to all that's involved. we need to ensure that our state policy governing the use of deadly force stresses the sanctity of human life and is only used when necessary. >> the goal is to get officers to diffuse confrontations or use less lethal methods. this comes after the shooting death of 22-year-old stephon clark. officers say that clark was moving toward them with a gun but he was holding a cell phone

instead. we are learning more about last month's massive fire in north beach. san francisco fire marshal says the restaurant where the fire started did not have a sprinkler system. the fire marshal said one had sprinklers. investigators say the march 17th fire started in a flue above the restaurant's kitchen but they're not saying which one. good luck getting a room, a saudi prince is expected in town with a large entourage. the staff says they are prepping for a visit from a large vip delegation. mohammed bin salmon rented out the entire 200 room hotel for the next five months. the crown prince is on a three week tour of the u.s. having met with the ceos of amazon and microsoft while in the northwest. the san francisco giants and their fans are gearing up today for the afternoon home

opener. >> the orange and black welcoming the seattle mariners, game time an hour away. and vern glenn is live for us at at&t park. how is it feeling out there? >> reporter: well, you know, it's my annual opening day noon live shot with you guys, and i'm glad to do it. yeah, it is the 19th season that the giants have been here at at&t park, and it's got the usual excitement and enthusiasm. right behind me right now, the seattle mariners are taking the field for this 1:30 first pitch. earlier, the giants were out on the field. let's roll that tape up as in left field. as i say this, the giants have won 14 of their last 17 on opening day. so let's hope that it gets a little bit better there. here's andrew mccutchen, it's his first opening day. pablo, he might play tomorrow. buster posey not behind the

old daughter when another vehicle hit and flipped her car. heather was killed, but her baby who was strapped in a rear facing car seat like this one, survived with minor injuries. heather's family said she had been very careful to pick out a safe seat. >> it paid after. i'm so thankful. and i know she -- it paid off. i'm so thankful. and i know she would be so happy knowing her daughter is with us. >> rear facing seatings can be highly effective in front and side collisions but researchers at wexter medical center wanted to see how they would perform in rear accidents, when the child is facing the crash. study author julie mansfield conducted tests on multiple rear facing seats. all were effective at absorbing the force of the crash and protecting the child. >> those crash forces are going to be transferred from the shell of the car seat into the vehicles seat and into the frame of the vehicle. that keeps the crash energy away from the occupant himself.

>> the american academy of pediatrics says parents should keep their toddlers in rear facing seats until they are 2 years old or when they reach the maximum height and weight. >> the rear facing seat does a good job of keeping the head, neck and spine aligned and supported. >> and that can save a child's life. b.a.r.t. is tackling a new problem at its stations, those lime green bikes popping up all over the place and being left on platforms and sidewalks. b.a.r.t. is trying to figure out what to do with that. the bikes are dockless. that means people can leave them wherever they want, like here, outside the b.a.r.t. station in south san francisco. b.a.r.t. wants the bike stowed in a designated area that's out of the way of pedestrians and won't pose a tripping hazard. lime bike says it wants to work collaboratively with b.a.r.t. to address any issues and identify good parking zones. it's the home opener for the san francisco giants, how is it looking out there? >> it's looking gorgeous. great baseball weather. conditions are just right.

-- at 75 for fair field. sunset happening tonight at 7:34. sunrise at 6:50 in the morning. nice clear conditions to start off the day. i want to show you what it looks like in hawaii right now. this is a live look, thanks to surf line, and for now, not too bad. earlier they saw some rain coming through. they're going to see more rain coming through. the reason i show you is because what's happening in hawaii is making a straight line to california. here's the atmospheric river, picking up a lot of moisture as it heads into hawaii by tomorrow afternoon and look at this, it merges together and the subtropical moisture headed to us. for now, that's where the bull's eye is and mixed with a couple lows to the north. that's when we'll see the heaviest rainfall. most likely friday will be the day where we are going to get significant showers coming through. we're looking at a few inches of rain expectedment flooding and mud slides all possible, in
