san bruno with the latest on the investigation. anne. >> reporter: you can see the youtube headquarters still blocked off with yellow crime scene tape this afternoon. two new pieces of information we learned this morning about the investigation. one, the shooter accessed this building through a parking garage. and, two, that she had visited a local gun range in the hours before the attack. the attack happened in this outdoor courtyard at youtube headquarters. investigators continued to comb for evidence this morning. >> we have a report of subject with a gun. >> reporter: police say 39- year-old nasim aghdam had a legally purchased 9-millimeter handgun and shot three people before taking her own life. >> there's absolutely no link or relationship that we have identified between our suspect and anybody who was at the scene at the time of the incident. >> reporter: the motive appears to be an ongoing dispute she had with youtube. >> i'm being discriminated and filtered on youtube and i'm not the only one. >> reporter: accusing of

suppressing her content. her family reported her missing on mon, then police found her sleeping in her car in mountain view while her father said he had warned mountain view police of her beef with youtube. they sent out a statement saying: >> reporter: san bruno police didn't get any warning. >> this was our first encounter and first awareness of this subject. >> reporter: today, police revealed how she entered the building. >> the suspect is believed to have parked her vehicle to the rear of a neighboring business. it accessed the campus via a parking garage. her vehicle has been secured and will be processed over the next few days. >> reporter: while the motive appears to be hating youtube, police haven't labeled the

crime. >> whether that rises to the level of terrorism hopefully will be determined in the next, you know, couple of weeks once we sift through all the evidence that we have to sift through, which is quite a bit. >> reporter: police and youtube now reviewing the security protocols here. do you have to use your badge to get into the building. so they are trying to figure out exactly how she got around that to get into the parking garage. the police chief also said that his department has trained with youtube here on security measures. >> so, anne, where does it go from here? >> reporter: they are studying a lot about the suspect's social media posts, many of them taken down or youtube channels have been taken down and it appears that she was trying to make a living on her youtube videos and that youtube had recently put some restrictions in place that were hampering her income. that was all part of the motive. they are also looking into, of course, that trip to the local gun range which was taken at

some point the morning of this attack yesterday morning. police won't reveal which gun range that was. they say their investigation going forward will be deliberate and methodical. live in san bruno, anne makevoc, kpix 5. kpix 5 reporter jackie ward continues our coverage in the newsroom and tells us the suspect's family is speaking out. jackie. >> reporter: just moments ago, we heard from the shooter as aunt, who was visibly upset and frustrated. a photographer asked if she felt the police should have done something. here's her response. -- >> reporter: wheel nasim aghdam is being investigated as the main suspect in the shooting, her family is in disbelief. nasim aghdam's brother whose identity he wants hidden said his sister passionately fought against animal cruelty and used her youtube channel as a

way to reach as many people as possible. >> a nice person, innocent person today. she never hurt any creature. >> reporter: while the motive is still under investigation, her brother says her relationship with youtube started heading south when it changed filters and less people watched her videos. over the weekend, aghdam's family reported her missing when she stopped answering her phone. around 2 a.m. tuesday authorities called the family and said they found her in her car in mountain view. >> reporter: her family says that police told them they were keep an eye on her but then the shooting happened. >> i didn't know she has a gun. i thought maybe she was going to start a fight or something.

>> reporter: as a precaution, the los angeles police department has had its officers camped out in front of the youtube offices there as a precaution that they took on their own. they have not received any threats targeting to that office. in the newsroom, jackie ward, kpix 5. we are also learning more about the three victims who were struck by gunfire in yesterday's shooting. zuckerberg san francisco general hospital says that the two female patients have now been released. the male victim remains in the hospital this afternoon in serious condition. police say that youtube employees have been told to either work from home or another location today. it's unclear when they can return to the facility. some employees say their bosses aren't giving much information. >> they have been pretty silent and, um, there have been a couple of emails but i don't feel comfortable disclosing the contents of that. >> can you at least characterize, you know, any of them in terms of general

morning. the dow has rebounded and is up 141. china plans to impose more tariffs on u.s. goods after the u.s. targeted 1300 chinese exports. jessica flores reports from the port of oakland. >> reporter: beijing is 6,000 miles away from the port of oakland. still, this is the fastest route to asia. that's why exports here could be in the crosshairs of any potential trade war with china. call it the gateway to asia. >> oakland is the last stop before ships visiting the u.s. return to asia. if you are a grower and you have perishable cargo, you want to load it in oakland. >> reporter: nearly all u.s. wine heading to china goes through the port of oakland. so do central valley nuts and fruits, those now subject to tariffs from china. the tariffs come as shipments are on the upward trend here. farm goods account for nearly half of all exports at the

port, growing 42% in the last four years. >> that's significant growth. and the port would hate to see anything including tariffs that blunts the momentum that's being gained by california growers. >> reporter: after president trump placed tariffs on more than 1000 chinese goods, china punched back with tariffs for more than 100 u.s. goods sparking fears of a trade war leaving california growers nervous. >> our loads we have under contract now that we are going to ship a month from now, will they be impacted? are we talking about new crop which are these nuts on the tree? >> reporter: president trump tweeting this morning said: >> reporter: it's unclear when

bragg before the crash. police are now trying to determine what jennifer hart may have been doing there. her suv went over a cliff on highway 1. another driver spotted the wreckage about a week ago. jennifer hart, sarah hart and three adopted children all died in the crash. search teams are now looking for the other three children who are still missing. protests over teacher salaries and school funding are spreading. teachers in arizona this morning wore red shirts while staging what they called a walk-in outside schools in the phoenix area. the demonstration took place before the schoolday started. teachers are calling for an increase in classroom funding as well as a pay raise. >> meanwhile, teachers in oklahoma are now in the third day of a walkout. they say funding needs to be addressed. it's fallen 30% in the past 10 years. some teachers have posted

photos about old books to show how poorly funded oklahoma schools are. >> we are not fighting for pay raises. we are the voice for the kids. they deserve better. >> last week, lawmakers in oklahoma approved a pay increase after teachers threatened to walk out. but teachers said it wasn't enough. and the protests began monday. oklahoma teachers are currently among the lowest paid in the nation. today marks 50 years since martin luther king, jr. was shot and killed in memphis, tennessee. mark strassmann shows us how those who remember are not only looking back at his legacy but ahead to the future. >> reporter: the lorraine motel where martin luther king, jr. was assassinated 50 years ago today stages a day of remembrance and reflection. the events kicked off with excerpts from dr. king's speeches. >> somewhere i read that the greatness of america is the right to protest.

>> reporter: commemorations began tuesday evening at the church where he gave his last speech. his children gathered at the pulpit to celebrate their father's work and legacy. >> i know our god didn't bring us this far to leave us. >> reporter: martin luther king iii told the crowd the civil rights movement lives on through his father's model of non-violent protest. >> i believe a coalition of "black lives matter," the "#metoo" movement, of these young people, we're gonna see folks coming to the polls like never before! >> reporter: since the assassination, the motel where dr. king was shot has become the national civil rights museum. the host of today's commemoration. >> reporter: despite the civil rights progress over the last half century, the museum's president says america needs to complete dr. king's vision of peace and justice. >> the issues persist that dr. king came to memphis to, um, focus on and, in fact, in

some ways have gotten worse. >> reporter: today's remembrance is also a reunion of the movement's old guard many of whom matched with dr. king. they see this anniversary as a reminder of how far america has come and how far we still have to go. mark strassmann, cbs news, memphis. the oroville spillway is still being repaired after a near catastrophe last year. due to an incoming storm, officials say they may have to use it as is. in february 2017, nearly 200,000 people were rushed from their homes amid fears of major flooding. inspectors will monitor the chute if water is released this week during storms. we have some wet weather on the way. >> we do. but right now we are calm and fine. yes, there's a storm but it's still off the coast. it's about 1,000 miles away. it's picking up a lot of moisture. so we are seeing a few thin high clouds out there along

the coast, as well. and temperatures are feeling pretty comfortable, pretty similar to yesterday. so if you like those temperatures, you'll like today. 70 in concord already. 59 for you in oakland and livermore 66. san francisco at 57 degrees. san jose 67. and that sunset 7:35 p.m. sunrise tomorrow 6:48. most likely we won't see either one of those because of the cloud coverage. this afternoon, highs will be in the low 70s for a lot of inland locations. mid-60s for san francisco and oakland. redwood city in the upper 60s. now, here's what's going on. so we are seeing a few clouds coming through just ahead of the storm. but this is where all the other clouds are and this is what that atmospheric river is and this is what's going to bring us plenty of moisture so right now it's still building as far as rainfall goes and it looks like we are going to see even more rainfall than initially forecast. so here's the futurecast. tomorrow morning clouds, and then by 2:00 first round of rain will be very light across the north bay. through 8:00 showers through the north bay.

overnight thursday into friday widespread showers, the friday morning drive will be wet. and then by 3:00, 4:00, friday afternoon commute will be slick when we get hev. when -- when -- friday afternoon commute will be slick when we get the heaviest rain. it will dry up by sunday. look at the rain totals. 3.3" for ukiah and san rafael and san francisco. now, these are in the city locations. but across the hills, the mountain ranges, for santa cruz, we could get up to 7 inches of rain. so your storm forecast looks like this. light rain thursday afternoon. heavy rain friday through saturday morning. flooding, mudslides possible, gusty winds and a flood watch in effect for the sierra friday night into saturday night because of the possibility of flooding and rockslides and mudslides up there. and then by sunday, monday, nice baseball weather will return. >> all right.

thank you. coming up, a new round of crash tests for small suvs. the five that did well and two that did not. fire fighting is a very dangerous profession. we have one to two fires a day and when you respond together and you put your lives on the line, you do have to surround yourself with experts. and for us the expert in gas and electric is pg&e. we run about 2,500/2,800 fire calls a year and on almost every one of those calls pg&e is responding to that call as well. and so when we show up to a fire and pg&e shows up with us it makes a tremendous team during a moment of crisis. i rely on them, the firefighters in this department rely on them, and so we have to practice safety everyday.

utilizing pg&e's talent and expertise in that area trains our firefighters on the gas or electric aspect of a fire and when we have an emergency situation we are going to be much more skilled and prepared to mitigate that emergency for all concerned. the things we do every single day that puts ourselves in harm's way, and to have a partner that is so skilled at what they do is indispensable, and i couldn't ask for a better partner.
