good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. thiserning morn this mornin . this morning the russians say israel carried out a strike on an air force base. the missile attack followed a suspected poison gas attack saturday against the syrian opposition that reportedly killed at least 40 people. president trump blamed russia for backing syria and promised a big price to play. wendy gillette is here in new york. wendy, good morning. >> good morning, anne-marie. a british monitoring group said 14 people were killed in a missile attack early today. syria's state run news agency said it was likely american aggression. the department of defense added that its closely watching the situation after a reported gas attack killed dozens, including women and children. the u.n. security council will convene today for an emergency session to discuss the suspected chemical attack in syria.

images from first responders show what they say is the result of a poisonous gas attack saturday. it's insisted at least 40 people were killed in a rebel-held town. cbs cannot independently verify these videos or confirm whether a chemical attack took place. president trump condemned the strike on twitter and warned of they have long said if kim is unwilling to denuclearize, there would be no reason for a meeting. it's unclear where the meet willing take place. the president is pushing back on a report that his chief of staff john kelly is getting increasingly frustrated. according to the "washington post," kelly and mr. trump have had heated shouting matches. the president calls the report far more fiction than fact and mr. trump is also defending

embattled e.p.a. administrationer scott pruitt. there are repeated calls for pru pruitt to resign over links to a condo and travel. on twitter the president insisted pruitt is doing a great job. six high school students were injured when a bus crashed into an overpass on the long island highway. the top of the bus was sheared off in last night's crash. they were returning from a spring break trip to europe. 38 students were on board ages 16 to 18. the students and five chaperones were headed from kennedy airport to a high school to be picked up by their parents. the 15 young canadian hockey players who were killed when a truck slammed into their bus were remembered at a memorial last night. justin trudeau was among those who attended a vigil at the

humboldt hockey arena. while most of the players were from elsewhere in western canada, they had been put up by families in humboldt as part of junior hockey. >> reporter: the humboldt broncos were on their way to a playoff game friday night, 30 minutes from their final destination, when a tractor trailer collided with their bus on a rural highway. the top of the bus was sheared off, and its front end was completely destroyed. 29 impeachment were on board including the bus driver, 15 of them killed. royal canadian police assistant commissioner said the driver of the trailer was not hurt. >> the driver of the semitrailer tractor unit is not in custody. >> reporter: residents are reeling over the loss. >> we've got a lot of youth in this community that are really, really struggling and troubled right now. >> reporter: tributes to several of the victims have been posted online. tyler bieber was the radio announcer. his brother brandon wrote, i don't know what to do or say right now. i know one thing. you will always be in my heart.

constand. he says it was consensual. >> the defense is going to portray andrea constand as a greedy woman who was willing to frame bill cosby. >> reporter: tom mesereau will defend bill cosby. he's best known for the aquick tall of michael jackson in his trial. the judge will allow a friend of andrea constand to testify about an alleged conversation between the two. >> miss jackson is going to testify allegedly that andrea said to her that i'm going to frame a celebrity and get money. >> reporter: more than 50 women have accused cosby of sex yooiluasexual assault. constand is the only one who has resulted in criminal prosecution, but during the trial five other accusers are expected to take the stand.

comments yesterday on facebook saying he's committed to being part of the solution. teachers are protesting salaries that are among the lowest in the united states. the governor last month signed off on the teachers' first pay increase in more than a decade, but union leaders say it's not enough. and the "guardian" reports on the pricey stay at the first luxury hotel in space. it will set you back about $92,000 a night. the hotel plans to open in about 2021. the inside is about the size of a gulfstream jet and it's expected to accommodate four travelers and two crew members for 12 days. still ahead, facebook comes clean. the social media network will tell you today if they're involved in a data breach scandal.

well, following a week of economic saber rattling with trade in china, president trump suggested china will ease trade barriers. in the president's words, it's the right thing to do. but here on wall street the stockmarket is in its third longest stretch without a new high since 2013. the dow ended last week by just over half a percent, tumbling sharply on friday. the s&p 500 lost 1.5%. the nasdaq fell over 2% for the week. today facebook will begin notifying users if their private data was compromised in the cambridge analytica scandal. all 2.2 billion facebook users will get a notice titled "protecting your information." and facebook users whose data may have been sharing with cambridge analytica will get a more detailed message. mark zuckerberg will be testifying on capitol hill and is expected to be questioned sharply about the security

special giants hand, and her goal is to throw out the first pitch at every major league baseball stadium. patrick reed is celebrating a win at the masters and it came after a thrilling victory. omar villafranca is at augusta international. >> reporter: patrick reed slipped on the green jacket. he fought off serious rallies by rickie fowler and 2015 masters champion jordan spieth but won by one stroke. the day started with an anticipated showdown between the final pairing of reed and rory mcilroy. two years ago at the ryder cup, which pits americans at europeans, the pair traded birdies and barbs on the course. reed won the match. mcelroy couldn't keep up, and after a few bogeys.
