states are suing the trump administration to keep it that way. >> the state of california is not looking to pick a fight with the trump administration. we are ready for one. >> reporter: today, and announcement of the 30-second lawsuit against the federal government. this against the epa plan to scrap the state standards on greenhouse gas emissions for vehicles. the standards would've required vehicles to get 36 miles per gallon by 2025. about 10 miles over the existing standard. an effort to help combat global warming. >> this is real. and if he doesn't get it, if president donald trump doesn't get it, they have to go. >> reporter: scott pruitt says california's strict gash emission standards are not appropriate and need revision. for that,, never -- governor brown calls him outlaw pruitt. >> it is so outrageous, i find it hard to find the right words

to describe. >> reporter: the legal basis, the epa is threatening and arbitrary move that violates the clean air act. >> with the latest reckless decision, they did not just jeopardize or planted in health, they also broke the law. the maximum the other states don't even have the same strict standards as california when it comes to greenhouse gas emissions. they joined in solidarity with the state goals, -- protests are underway for mayday, also known as international workers day. one of the largest marches is in oakland. jessica florez explains how they are using it to bring attention to the struggles of other groups. >> reporter: about 200 people here are at the park at 16th and adeline. they started at the port of oakland and marched over here.

they are listening to speakers right now holding signs and they say this is much bigger than just mayday and a labor movement. they are talking about police brutality. i want to show you there is a strong police force, a couple dozen officers standing by. everything is peaceful, nothing that police need to do except for monitor the situation. they did march on city streets from the port of oakland to this park and are now rallying here. among the union signs, also signs calling for sanctuary for all. and protesting police brutality. one sign lists the names of bay area residents killed by police officers. members of the international longshoremen workers union say the issues are part of the labor movement. >> in our own history, july 5 1934 two maritime strikers in the west coast strike were shot by the police. we understand what it means to

have those who give their lives for the struggle of working people. >> reporter: the third year in a row they have gone on strike for mayday. to draw attention to problems in society. >> i want a better world for my daughter and family. there is too much senseless violence and if this brings awareness against that, i think it is a positive thing. >> reporter: there are events going on in san francisco and hayward and all these people will convene at 3 pm in oakland for a march there. >> as she mentioned, rallies and marches are planned all over the bay area, one is underway right now at city hall. in san jose people are gathering at roosevelt park to march to city hall and another get started at 4:30 pm at mountain view. workers and activists are marking mayday around the

globe, things turned violent in paris. you can hear the popping sounds at the gathering, smoke was also rising above the crowd. hooded protesters earned a car and scrolled graffiti on buildings. police were wearing riot gear to move in and get things under control. dozens of protesters were arrested in turkey as they made their way into istanbul. it holds symbolic value for the labor movement. they had it cordoned off the demonstrations. more of a celebratory atmosphere in cuba as thousands took to the streets. the march and -- was headed by the current president and was joined by the communist party leader raul castro. they are asking for an end to the embargo that the u.s. imposed several years ago. an employee and his friend are facing murder charges in the fatal shooting of a man. this man, and his friend are

charged in the killing of another last week. they say the suspect followed the victim as he picked up his girlfriend and drove back to their home in daly city. then shot into the car as they backed into the driveway. this is video of him testifying at a hearing on raising minimum wages for workers. he worked at sfo with the victims girlfriend and was reportedly rejected by her. the suspects will be back in court on may 8. a young couple fatally shot while they were sitting in a car. police are offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to a suspect. this happened around 9:30 pm on 89th avenue. a 25-year-old man and a 19-year- old woman died at the scene. no suspect information is available. shaking in the east bay this morning, a magnitude 2.6 earthquake hit roughly 3 miles north of diablo. no injuries or

damages have been recorded. the questions that robert mueller has for president trump are now available. they will focus on whether the president obstructed justice. >> reporter: robert mueller reportedly has 44 questions he would like to ask president donald trump about his rush investigation and possible obstruction of justice. reedy thnew rk times fit center on james comey. the questions include what did you think about mr. cummings intelligence briefing on january 6, 2017? about russian election interference? and regarding the decision to fire james comey, when was it made, why and who played a role. he would also like to ask the president about michael flynn who is now cooperating with a special counsel investigation. >> i asked for his resignation, he gave it. >> reporter: he was fired 24 days into the trump

administration for lying about his contacts with the russian ambassador. he wants to know what the president knew about those calls, why he decided to fire him and what efforts were made to reach out to flynn about a possible pardon. president donald trump wasted no time firing back on twitter . he says it was disgraceful that the questions were leaked to the media. and another tweet he wrote it would seem very hard to obstruct justice for a crime that never happened. witchhunt. his team has previously asked the trump administration that the president is not considered a target. so, investigators have been hoping to speak with the president. the head of the environmental protection agency says two top aides are leaving amid ethics investigations. the epa chief didn't give specific reasons but says his security chief is retiring and the aid in charge of overseeing the nations toxic waste cleanup program has resigned from his role. the clock is ticking towards president donald trump's

wanted to show you the moisture that came through, a wraparound moisture from the system that has moved further south into the east. that would be snow across the sierra, some rain coming through sacramento valley and right now, it is looking like there could be moisture in the cloud cover hanging over the diablo range. overall, satellite radar showing the moisture long gone, it is moving south in places like la, san diego could get raindrops, las vegas as well. the winds are picking up west northwest winds at 15 miles per hour downtown san francisco 14, oakland at five, antioch 12, now that the system is moving out, we will see more of this, a good-looking week. blue skies across the bay, temperatures rising. livermore 64, san jose 63, temperatures will be above average today,

clear conditions over berkeley and temperatures will be above average for san francisco and oakland. 73 expected for san jose, concorde 76, further east the warmer it will be. down to the south, temperatures in the low to mid 70s. compare that to the cooler conditions and temperatures will hang around the low 60s. fairfield, pittsburgh and antioch, 80 degrees. sausalito 67, sonoma and napa in the low 80s as well. sunset happening tonight at 8 pm, sunrise tomorrow at 6:12 am, here's what's going on. this ridge of high pressure will bring us sunshine and warmer weather. the 7-day forecast will show you the impact of that ridge. look at temperatures on the way up into the 80s by the time friday, saturday and sunday rollaround. we will be back after the break. you could save energy
