payment sent to adult film actress daniels. that's according to rudy giuliani who joined the president's legal team two weeks ago. >> something to do with paying some stormy daniels woman $130,000, which is going to turn out to be perfectly legal. that money was not campaign money. >> giuliani's claim directly contradicts what the president directly told reporters aboard "air force one" last month. >> did you know about the $130,000 payment to daniels? >> no, no. >> reporter: mr. trump referred questions about the deal to long-time lawyer michael cohen. >> he did not know about the specifics of it, as far as i know, but michael cohen would take care of things like this. >> daniels claims she was paid $130,000 to bent quiet. giuliani was stun by it.

>> the house shook and the windows like blew open. i don't know. it happened really fast. >> everybody's safe, everybody's fine. all the stuff, you know, of course, is destroyed, but it's fine. it's just stuff. >> the severe weather is expected to continue moving through the great plains through tomorrow. there have been no reports of serious injury. and up to eight police officers were injured in connecticut as authorities negotiated with a man who was holding his wife hostage in barn. the barn exploded as the police were trying to coax the man out. neighbors said the blast was powerful. >> literally stuff on our kitchen tables was shaking. it's just unbelievable. this is such a quiet town. stuff like this never happens around here. >> the officers were not seriously injured. the fire that followed the explosion spread to the house.

the wife escaped. but it's unclear what happened to her husband. the last flight of a 60-year-old military plane ended in disaster. all nine crew members of an aging c-130 died when it crashed onto a georgia highway yesterday. it had just taken off from savannah hilton head international airport. the crew was flying the plane into retirement. mark strassmann has details. >> reporter: thick black smoke billowed from the c-130 hercules cargo plane moments after it nose-dived and exploded near hilton head international airport. >> our thoughts and prayers go out to our brothers and sisters at the puerto rico international guard. >> reporter: officials say the plane was in the air for about two miles. members of the puerto rican international guard were en route to arizona on a training mission were killed. >> it's unexplainable. everything was gone, people just rushing to try toe help. >> reporter: roger best got to the wreckage ahead of first responders. >> it looks like a war zone.

matin azizi-yarand was inspired by isis and planned to shoot up a suburban shopping mall this month. the fbi said he was indoctrinated with isis online. he wanted to carry out the attack in the holy month of ramadan. he ended up texting an undercover agent he thought was a fellow supporter. and las vegas police released body cam video of the worst mass shooting in american history. when officers made their way into the mandalay bay hotel, people there didn't know about the gunfire from above. by the time the police got to the 32nd floor room where stephen paddock used as a sniper's nest, he had killed 58 people, injured hundreds, and taken his own life. the consulting firm at the center of the facebook privacy scandal cambridge analytica is shutting down. the london-based firm declared

reports two men arrested at a starbucks have come to an agreement with the city. the agreement with the city will pay $1 and set up a fund of $200,000 for entrepreneurs. it will be the most restrictive abortion law in the nation. the state legislature passed the bill yesterday. it would ban most abortions after six weeks of pregnancy when a fetal heartbeat is detected. reynolds, a republican, says she will make a decision very soon. and "the hill" says the teacher of the year gave president trump letters from refugee and immigrant students. mandy manning received the award from the president yesterday. she teaches english to refugee and immigrant students at a washington state high school. she said she gave her letters from students to mr. trump at a separate meeting. the students wrote what coming to the u.s. meant to them.

rate in the 1.5% to 1.75% range. that's the level set since march. the fed has increased the race six times since 2015 in an effort to control inflation. in a statement it expects further gradual increases. the fear of the possibility of rising interest rates sent stocks lower. the dow dropped 174 points. the s&p 500 fell 19 points. the nasdaq gave up 29 points. the electric automaker tesla posted a record $709 million loss in the first quarter, raising questions about its ability to pay its bills. tesla has had problems meeting production targets for its mass market model 3. in a letter yesterday, tesla said model 3 production hit 2,070 per week at the end of april. far short of the 5,000 cars it needs to be profitable. meanwhile spotify reported

here's a look at today's forecast in some cities around the country. ♪ baby love baby love ♪ the wait is on this morning for an egg to hatch inside a popular bald eagle nest. it's at washington, d.c.'s national arboretum. the egg began to crack yesterday just two days after another chick hatched. live cameras showed the latest activity in the nest, and the eggs are the latest from the bald eagle couple named mr. president and the first lady. the boy scouts is dropping the word "boy" from its name starting next year. the 108-year-old program for 11-to 17-year-olds is going to be called scouts bsa. it comes after a decision to include girls next year.
