>> i michelle gray go. -- when he gave -- a six-month sentence for sexual assault. len ramirez was at this monthã mike this mornings lengthy news conference. >> reporter: he spoke for almost an hour here in palo alto, it was a news conference inside a palo alto home. during that news conference, he made the point several times that we as judges rule on the facts, not public opinion. he said that judges apply the law, they don't created. he called the recall effort against him misguided. we also got a glimpse into how the backlash against him has affected him personally. >> how many judges drive down the streets of their neighborhood with their two children in the car and see a lawn sign, their fathers picture, next to a mug shot? how many judges want to come home one day and find this

political mailer addressed to their wife? and this mailer accuses the judge of failing to protect his community. >> the sentencing of stamford swimmer brock turner for six months for raping a firestorm of criticism that led to the recall effort. he said he was surprised at the amount of backlash. he also said that it was his first instinct to remain silent in the face of criticism. he said judges should zip it and take the heat. he said he is only speaking out now because he is afraid such a recall effort will hurt the judicial process in california in the long run. he says the last recall effort or the last successful recall of a sitting judge in california happened 86 years ago, so this would be a first in a very long time. reporting live, len ramirez. back to you.

san francisco 49ers linebacker ruben foster just pleaded not guilty to felony domestic violence charges. he was back in a san jose courtroom this morning, in a case related to his february arrest for allegedly beating up his former girlfriend. a woman has since recanted her claims but the case continues to move forward. foster is also charged with forcefully attempting to prevent a victim from reporting a crime and possession an assault weapon. both our families and he is due back in court on may 17 at within the last hour presidential delivered his much- anticipated decision, saying the u.s. will walk away from the ironic nuclear deal. we have more from the white house. >> reporter: president trump is making good on a campaign promise, announcing tuesday he is tearing up the deal restricting iran's nuclear program. >> the fact is, this was a horrible, one-sided deal that you have never, ever been made.

>> university says that carol chris, the first female chancellor in uc berkeley history, will speak instead of senator harris. it's a site that is becoming all-too-familiar on public transit. this time, a man with a syringe in his lap on -- in san francisco. you can see in uncapped syringe filled with liquid, sitting on this man's lap as he was writing the m train saturday afternoon. a staffer took these photos and says the three men all appeared high, city leaders said this behavior has to stop so people can feel safe taking public transportation. he had this to say about the photos, quote this is a tragic site that no one wants to see or experience while writing. we are continue to work with the police department to ensure that everyone has a safe and comfortable ride on public transit. pg&e is kicking up wildfire awareness week with the opening of a new center. it will help experts monitor wildfire threats across the state. and markovic got in behind the scenes. this

>> reporter: we are inside their new wildfire safety operations center. we had to go through two layers of security to get to this point, and this is where they are monitoring wildfire threats in northern and central california. this 15th floor room is the coordination hub for all of its wildfire prevention efforts. has been evolving as the fire risks increase. >> -- really is recognizing that conditions have changed. >> reporter: the hub is staffed with private firefighters, many who used to work for cal fire. >> fire prevention, because that is where we need to start from, is the fire prevention side. that is the positive side to mitigate any anticipated fires as we go into this year's fire season. >> reporter: while there is no official word, they have been

affordable prices. >> it's going to be really, really community friendly. >> reporter: -- chief product officer. >> using these, with stacked rotors, to create vertical lifts , it lifts off like a helicopter but then when it gets to the right altitude, this rotor here kicks on and that -- it creates forward thrust and uses the wings for lift. >> reporter: he says they are still in the design phase, unlike a helicopter, this aircraft will have clusters of small propellers that run on electricity, making it quieter, more efficient and more affordable. although piloted at first, the goal is for the flying taxis to become autonomous. but questions remain about how they will guarantee safety. uber air also says for to become profitable, it would need to move beyond a market. >> one of the key tenets of this technology is for us to have for writers in each vehicle so that essentially the cost per ride goes down, the combination of mass market and sharing, which is what uber is

misty in the air as we deal with some of that moisture in there as well. the west wind, that is what is causing all of this and it is keeping things cool in san francisco, 52 degrees, compared to 275, 53 degrees in san jose, warming up nicely to 69 degrees and here's our doppler, showing green popping up here, off the coast of eureka, a couple of lightning strikes over the water but all of that is going to stay to the north of us. i was going to do for us is bring our temperatures down a little bit, especially right along the coastline and around the bay. temperatures will hover in the 60s, inland, it's going to feel pretty comfortable, we are in the 80s for places like concord for this afternoon, so ringing you five degrees above average if you are inland but around the bay, pretty normal for this time of year. 60s for the coast, 80s for -- 77, further out, also warmer air, low 80s with plenty of sunshine there. we are noticing that tomorrow, temperatures will drop off another couple degrees, so instead of the 80s tomorrow for inland areas, expect the 70s,

we have one to two fires a day and when you respond together and you put your lives on the line, you do have to surround yourself with experts. and for us the expert in gas and electric is pg&e. we run about 2,500/2,800 fire calls a year and on almost every one of those calls pg&e is responding to that call as well. and so when we show up to a fire and pg&e shows up with us it makes a tremendous team during a moment of crisis. i rely on them, the firefighters in this department rely on them, and so we have to practice safety everyday. utilizing pg&e's talent and expertise in that area trains our firefighters on the gas or electric aspect of a fire and when we have an emergency situation we are going to be much more skilled and prepared to mitigate that emergency for all concerned. the things we do every single day that puts ourselves in harm's way, and to have a partner that is so skilled at what they do is indispensable,
