being ejected from an suv on tuesday night on interstate 880 near stephenson boulevard. 21-year-old dang nguyen hai tran made an abrupt lane change which triggered the deadly chain of events. police say marijuana may have played a factor. kristy lemus and her nine-year- old sister brooke and 39-year- old noel johnson were killed in the crash. colin kaepernick, the suspect, is expected to be in court in two hours. a deadly explosion in southern california. police arrested the ex- boyfriend. public -- a device was dropped off at a day spa and two other people were hurt and police say they arrested 59-year-old stephan beale on suspicion of being in possession of an unregistered destructive device. the arrest comes after investigators spent hours writing the suspect's home in long beach and the suspect has

jessica? . it was -- >>reporter: it was a dramatic day here. no cameras were allowed and i can tell you ruben foster's ex- girlfriend was crying several times during her testimony. she recanted the domestic violence abuse allegations she said she made the whole thing up to get back at him for breaking up with her. as for the visible signs of injuries across her face and body, she said she got those from a fight with another girl the night before in san francisco. this started on february 11th brick the now ex-girlfriend alyssa and his call police three times to report foster was beating her up and she flagged someone down after she told the passerby her boyfriend broke her phone -- phone and she said in the courtroom i wanted to be extra and i wanted him to go down and she told foster you are not going to have a job tomorrow and she told prosecutors she did not

civilian life. >> helping the veterans became personal for the jefferson award winners. far had difficulty when he returned from afghanistan. this husband and wife team gives them jobs and room to roam. >> mending fences, welding, settling a horse. justin han seems at home on the range. not that the former rain who saw combat in afghanistan did not try adjust -- job. >> i was cooped up in a building and i'm used to being on the go. >> when he heard about the bay area veterans ranch he started working there. they came up with the idea of ranch and vets.

>> it was not an easy transition going from combat immediately back to civilian life. >> because government worked on a ranch in west marin they thought the experience of hard work and fresh air and responsibility could help veterans. >> being outdoors and working with animals that don't judge you and that gives you peace. we are happy to do that job. >>reporter: ranch and beth has served 30 veterans state wide and while ranching is of course a huge part of ranch and events cory says they do a lot more to serve veterans. >> we've helped veterans and other ways by steering them to organizations that could help them with what their next step might be. >> clayton helps run the ranch and says hiring justin was a no- brainer. >> it's a huge opportunity for them to come out and work in an environment they feel comfortable and. >> finding comfort seems to fit kevin and corey. >> we said if we help one back
