good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs news headquarters here in new york. i'm anne-marie green. this morning, final preparations are under way for the royal wedding. crowds have been gathered outside windsor castle hoping to capture glimpses of prince harry and meghan markle. teri okita is in windsor, england. teri, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, anne-marie. they say they're dev stated her father won't be able to attend the joys

another eruption has been detected and older fissures have been reactivated. an explosion sent a cloud of ash some 30,000 feet into the air. it was a short powerful burst scientists had been expecting. masks were distributed to area residents and schools were closed because of the risk of high levels of sulphur dioxide. investigators are trying to find out what caused the deadly click between a school bus and a truck in new jersey. a teacher and student were killed. 43 people were hospitalized, some in critical condition. michelle miller has our report. >> we're going to need about 20 balances. i have a full school bus and victims on the ground. >> reporter: calls flooded 911 after a school bus carrying

middle schoolers from new jersey collided with a dump truck. investigators say the accident was so violent the body of the bus was severed, the body crushed. the red dump truck involved in the crash stopped another by. mt. olive mayor, robert greenbaum. >> students were on a trip with classmates and teachers. several ro reported dead. governor phil murphy. >> some patients are in critical condition and currently undergoing surgery, so please keep everybody in your prayers. >> reporter: officials say 43 victims were taken to area hospitals. >> i hear two boys were severely

injured and my best friend was on the bus and i was so scared. >> reporter: the other two were not involved in the crash. >> this is a devastation right now for our community, for the families involved, for east brooke middle school. >> reporter: michelle miller, cbs news. president trump says planning next month's summit with north korean leader kim jong-un continues despite rounds in the north. the north threatened to scratch the u.s. summit and that it won't be pressured into giving up its nuclear weapons, but mr. trump said yesterday the two sides are discussing meeting logistics as if nothing happened. president trump said if north korea did denuclearize, he would be willing to provide security details to kim jong-un. >> he'll get protections that are very strong.

>> reporter: the u.s./north korean summit is scheduled for june 12th in singapore. today there's an announcement of a proposal. the clinics would also be prevented from sharing space with abortion providers. this is a resurrection of a reagan-era rule that never went into effect. abortion rights people say -- and opponents say they should have no connection at all with abortion. gina haspel will be sworn in as the first female direct ore f the cia. the senate confirmed haspel yesterday, 54-45. six democrats voted to confirm her. she's spent almost all of her 33 years in the cia under cover. her nomination was controversial because she supervised a arrest.

a rare and massive tornado 6 tore through western germany and it was caught on video. the tornado hit, ripping through several towns. it damaged dozens of houses. three people were hurt. there's hope for saving a white rhinoing and new trouble for a man caught on video delivering a racist rant. those are some of the headlines on the morning newsstand. hours of heated debate, a city commission approved plans for the presidential center. it approved to build it in a park on the city's south side. some worried it would lead to decenturyfication and traffic. "the new york times" reports the fda approved a new drug that would offer hope to millions of people suffering severe my grains. the drug is called aimovig. it is injected and will cost $6,900 a year. the company making drug says it will be available in a week. they're reyutding lgbt families to become adopters and parents. they want to welcome them. child welfare officials say there are roughly 100 lgbt

here's a look at today's forecast in some cities around the country. a new case of the deadly ebola virus in congo is being called a game-changer by health experts. a single case of ebola in the city means a virus has spread to a densely populated area. up until now, the 45 known possible cases of ebola have been limited to a remote area a thousand miles away. 20 people have died but only one

our top story this morning, final preparations are under way at windsor castle. markle's father was supposed to walk her down the aisle. he will not attend, though, due to health issue. so far no replacement has been named. and on hawaii's big island, scientists say another big eruption of the kilauea volcano is very possible. yesterday a cloud of ash rose some 30,000 feet into the air. it was dramatic, but it lasted for a short time. the big concern this morning is the release of self fehr dioxide, which can cause breathing problems.

well, a new mural was unveiled at the kansas state house yesterday to commemorate the 64th anniversary of landmark u.s. supreme court decision. the 1954 brown versus topeka board of education ruling struck down segregation. it has three sections. robert mueller's investigation is now a year old. paula reid has the latest development. >> reporter: president trump took to twitter, lashing out against the special counsel. congratulations, america. we're now into the second witch hunt in american history. there's no collusion. >> somebody has to defend the president. >> reporter: it'srudy giuliani

appeareded on fox. >> it's damn witch hunt. >> five of the people charged have pleaded guilty and arrively cooperating with investigators. >> they're going at a very quick pace. >> reporter: kim wehle who's a former independent counselor and was part of the whitewater investigation says it's moving quickly and they're yielding results. >> we don't know how many witnesses we're talking to but we have to assume a lot more than made public because this investigation keeps things kwee quiet. >> reporter: a report in december showed mueller's team spent $3.2 million in the first month. another report is due out next month. the first person facing try is former manager paul manafort who's charged in two separate cases. those trials will start later this year. the office of special counsel will continue to work until every court appeal has been exhausted.
