look at the suspected shooter. this is 17-year-old demetrio in custody described as a junior varsity football team member and a dance squad with the local greek orthodox church and we are waiting on an update and you can see law enforcement walking out possibly to address the microphone. police fire and responders making sure it's secure. >> police found pressure cookers and pipe bombs around the school following the latest developments. >>reporter: the day had barely begun and santa fe high school and i heard screaming. >> one suspect is being questioned and official say the danger is not over and they

found bombs around the high school. >> they rushed into the buildings and senior tyler turner saw at least one injury. >> i saw a girl who got shot in the kneecap. >> students reported shooter after first. art class open fire and then someone pulled the fire alarm. >> i thought it was a pop or an explosion but when i heard the next four shots i thought it's not an explosion. >> this sophomore ran into a forest for cover. >> i should not be going through this at my school. this is my daily life. i should not have to feel like that. >> parents rushed to the scene after this alert of an active shooter situation. >> this is getting ridiculous.

>>reporter: kids were looking ahead to summer vacation which starts and just two weeks. texas governor greg abbott is speaking and let's listen in. >> without fear for their drug safety, it is with a very heavy heart that i can confirm that as of this time there have been 10 lives lost and another 10 have been wounded. we grieve for the victims who lost their lives in santa fe high school, and we pray for the families who are suffering and will continue to suffer in the days to come. nothing can prepare a parent for the loss of a child. >> that's texas governor greg abbott speaking about the loss

shows a billowing cloud of smoke at the crash say. it was headed to assist -- a sister city and the jet belongs to the company and we will stay on top of this. we are following a story out of santa cruz county where a suspect shot and a deputy injured around 3:00 a.m. on the ocean street extension north of quail crossing. "kpix 5" has an update. >> one deputy was injured and he will be okay. >>reporter: another deputy shot a female suspect and she was taken to the hospital with injuries. it happened at 3:30 a.m. on the ocean street extension, a rural road that connects highs up -- i was one and 17 north of santa cruz. deputies were patrolling when they encountered a man and a woman and some sort of altercation ensued leaving one officer to open fire. the female suspect was shot.

neither she nor the man who was with her head guns. officers are not giving out any details as to the nature of the confrontation but officers say this area has had its share of issues. >> it's been a problem for various concerns that we have whether it's drug use or transients or people camping. the community has had some issues here. >> the deputy who was injured was not the one who opened fire and his injuries are not due to gunfire. that is all officers will say. that blocked off 70 yards of the roadway as they continue their investigation. officers are reviewing body camera footage and planning on holding a news conference at 1:00 p.m. this afternoon. anne makovec. dimitri pagourtzis. of violence -- violent attacks in freemont. one of the most recent attacks you see the suspect walking toward the victim and slamming

her to the ground and ripping off her gold necklace and running away. a few seconds later the victim gets up and appears to be okay. it happened near all of area elementary school and it is the sixth attack in the last two weeks. >> i hope they catch them. it is frightening to know this has been going on and on the lake -- neighborhoods locally. >> police say the suspect is a man in his 20s or 30s and if you recognize the suspect in the video they want to hear from you. a dead whale creating a scene near oakland's jacqueline square and "kpix 5" jackie ward says it's beached and a popular tourist spot. >>reporter: we are south of jacqueline square and there is construction in this area and just behind me the whale carcass is partially submerged. a spokesperson for the noah

organization saying the marine mammals researchers will be there to try to determine how this whale died. one man was fishing and he was surprised to see the whale. >> it is something you don't see on a daily basis, but it is kind of exciting but at the same time a little said. >>reporter: as of now it is too soon to know what happened here. the marine center along with noah and the u.s. army corps of engineers has to assess the situation and figure out the best way to tow the whale out and toward angel island. on wednesday they got word the deceased whale was draped across the bow -- across the bow of the ship. it is unclear if this is the same whale or a different one. in oakland.

overnight shootout. officers arrested 42 year old jonathan oodi {ah-dee} at the doral resor . a scare at a golf resort in florida. police captured a man after an overnight shoot out. officers arrested jonathan oddi at the trump national rail resort near miami. he took a flag off a poll and draped it onto a counter and showed an anti-trump rhetoric and fired shots at the ceiling and thick fish chandelier and officers arrived and shut the suspect multiple times and he is in stable condition. one officer suffered a broken arm and police recovered a semi automatic handgun. the trump administration proposing a rule that would bar abortions at facilities receiving federal planning fanning bone -- planning funds. plan -- planned parenthood

and blue skies. the further inland you go the sunshine is warming things up this afternoon. shaping up to be a good friday. here is a look at the high temperatures for this afternoon. cool along the coast with temperatures in the upper 50s and inland, south bay mid 50s. 71 for you in santa clara. is by temperatures rising into the mid to upper 70s. warmer than yesterday and tomorrow similar to what you see here and temperatures around the bay still influenced by the west wind that's blowing the cool cool so they are right around sausalito and san francisco that's why we state in the low 60s around the water and the further north you go 80 degrees in salina and this ridge of high pressure here is weak and heading toward california and that's what will impact us today and tomorrow. we have to slow up here that will dip down for sunday and by sunday temperatures will drop by a lot and we will be in the 50s and 60s for most locations

talk about the dangers of foxtails. foxtail season is very imp every friday we check in with our pet expert doctor joe chase. we are going to talk about the dangers of fox tales. >> fox tales are the bane of my existence. i have photos. fox tales, they only go in one direction. the pieces of them are the problem. dogs if they stick their nose in them or they walked through them they can either inhale them into their nose or get them between their toes.

they can get actually into there for and make their way into their abdominal cavity or their chest cavity. they are very nasty and they only go in one direction. once they get a foothold they will keep moving. for me and tell my clients it's very important to stay away from fox tales. everyone knows it's preventative care which means i want you to be able to have your pets only going to the vets once a year for annual exams and vaccines and not any other reason. stay away from fox tales and stay on the sidewalks and also the beach and that's the best thing but don't walk through them and it's horrible and if you feel like you must walk through them then immediately check your pet afterwards and look with your eyes as well as feel with your hands and your toes. >> it gets tricky. >> exactly. if they do a violent sneeze and something you aren't used to,
