griego. >> and i'm ken choi. and joe is following the story and has the very latest. >> reporter: the district attorney says his investigation is over. just a few minutes ago george gascon took to the podium. he announced there will be no charges against the san francisco police officer in two high profile officer involved shooting cases. the first case involved the death of mario woods at the hands of police in december 2015 officers confronted woods as he held a kitchen knife. police said woods had stabbed someone earlier in the day. still had the knife in his hand and refused to drop it. >> the other case was the police shooting of luis gongora a homelessman police say was wielding a knife. it happened on shotwell street in the mission district. the d.a. has been investigating whether there will be charges against any of the police officers

involved. a multiyear investigation. just moments ago he announced his decision. >> under the law today no crimes were committed either in the mario woods shooting, or the gongora shooting. i find myself very satisfied with while clearly under the law today, no crime has occurred that answer was very unsatisfactory for me morally and as a human being. >> reporter: both cases sparked outrage. led to reform and was part of a series of officer involved shooting that led to the dismissal of the very unpopular police chief greg surh. we will bring you reaction and a full update on the news at 5:00 and on cbssf.com. in the newsroom, joe vasquez. the two men charged in the

ghost ship fire are at odds. kpix5 reporter jessica florez is outside the courthouse. jessica. >> reporter: codefendants have been on the same page throughout this entire process. this is really the first time they're disagreeing. the attorney for harris wants the trial postponed until the fall. while derek malmena's attorney wants the trial to start as scheduled. prosecutors say the two men created a death trap and conditions that blocked victims from escaping the building. now the judge today denied max harris any avail to go out and wait the trial outside of jail. he will actually wait the trial in jail. the judge was considering letting harris out following a

trial. but the state attorney is reviewing that case. derek almena's lawyer agree with prosecutors that the trial should stin july. while harris's attorneys say ar their team of experts needs more time to review all the evidence. >> the longer you postpone it the more they will suffer. the more that they will be deteriorating. juries look intensely at people who are charged with crime. >> if mr. harris has to sit in jail and be uncomfortable for that time it's unfortunate but it's worth it. it's an investment that will pay out and allojuryw o us ton guilty. >> reporter: the judge did schedule the next meeting for june 7th.

that's when they will come to trial and decide when the trial will begin. reporting live here in oakland, i'm jessica florez, kpix5. our top national story now, president trump has canceled what was supposed to be a summit with north korea. mola lenghi has the latest from the white house. >> reporter: president trump pulled the plug this morning on his summit with north korean leader kim jong-un. >> i believe that this is a tremendous set back for north korea and indeed a set back for the world. >> the president sent a letter to kim writing sadly based on the tremendous anger and open hostility displayed in your most recent statement, i feel it is inappropriate at this time to have this long planned meeting. the president's action follows strong words from north korea overnight. an aide to kim called vice president mike pence a political dummy for his recent suggestion of a regime change

voters. republican businessman john cox who was recently endorsed by president trump is at 19%. and 15% of likely voters support former los angeles mayor antonio villagrosa. the two candidates will move off to a run off election in november. chevron lawyers are headed to federal court today trying to get a climate change lawsuit thrown out. in the cities of san francisco and oakland are suing chevron and three other oil companies. they claim chevron knowingly contributes to global warming and should be forced to pay millions of the dollars in damages. chevron says it shares concerns about climate change but says a lawsuit against just one industry isn't the way to attack the problem. it was deja vu for commuters. a in the same spot for two times in a week. >> reporter: they believe a caltrans pump house failed causing all this water to spill

is next. today's tip of the day is going to be with blackberries. blackberries are in the market. and look how dark they are. sometimes you get a little bit of purpose, -- purple, a little bit of green and its bitter and they're not cheap you're disappointed. but look at these, they're wonderful. always check the container. make sure it's free of liquid whatsoever. when you bring them home store them in the refrigerator right away. what you want to do simply is, don't wash them before you store them. but always wash them before you enjoy them. very important. because that cold temperature that water or any water on to

we have one to two fires a day and when you respond together and you put your lives on the line, you do have to surround yourself with experts. and for us the expert in gas and electric is pg&e. we run about 2,500/2,800 fire calls a year and on almost every one of those calls pg&e is responding to that call as well. and so when we show up to a fire and pg&e shows up with us it makes a tremendous team during a moment of crisis. i rely on them, the firefighters in this department rely on them,

and so we have to practice safety everyday. utilizing pg&e's talent and expertise in that area trains our firefighters on the gas or electric aspect of a fire and when we have an emergency situation we are going to be much more skilled and prepared to mitigate that emergency for all concerned. the things we do every single day that puts ourselves in harm's way, and to have a partner that is so skilled at what they do is indispensable, and i couldn't ask for a better partner. >> yeah, i'm watching it too. i see them every day. >> the curtains, they're always drawn in this place. >> i know. >> that guy, it seems like he's in charge of them. i don't know, i don't feel very good about this. >> we have to report this. >> yes, absolutely.
