june 12th. >> they've offered to talk at any time in any format. good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs news headquarters here in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. canadian police are looking for two men suspected of detonating a bomb in an ontario restaurant. 15 people were injured in a blast in a toronto suburb, at least three are in critical condition. the two suspects wearing zipped up hoodies and covering their faces immediately fled the scene, according to police. the indian restaurant is located in a shopping center and it's unclear where in the restaurant the explosion happened or what the motivation might be. film producer harvey weinstein is expected to surrender to police this morning to face charges involving sexual assault. this is the first criminal case against weinstein following allegations by more than 75 women of sexual misconduct. officials in california and london are also investigating assault allegations.

laura podesta is here in new york with the details. good morning, laura. >> good morning, anne-marie. later this morning we're expecting harvey weinstein to walk through the doors of the police precinct right behind me, turning himself in roughly 6 1/2 months after "the new york times" first exposed his alleged sexual misconduct. harvey weinstein is expected to surrender to authorities today. he's facing criminal charges involving at least one of the women who have accused him of sexual assault. the case reportedly involved actress lucia evans. she told investigators and "the new yorker" that weinstein forced her to perform oral sex on him in his manhattan office in 2004. late last year the manhattan d.a.'s office hired a lawyer.

she insists weinstein raped her twice in 2010. dozens of women have accused the former hollywood mogul of sexual harassment, misconduct, and rape. weinstein has repeatedly denied having nonconsensual sex with any of the women who have come forward. attorney jean christensen represents some of weinstein's accusers. she told "cbs this morning" that a conviction could be used in similar cases against him. >> at a minimum, i would expect that they will feel satisfied that he's held accountable for his conduct. >> reporter: a spokesperson for the manhattan district attorney told cbs news yesterday, quote, the investigation is in an advanced stage. the nypd is looking into multiple accusations. >> i'm not going to give you exact numbers. it's more than one. it's actively being investigated. >> reporter: the avalanche of allegations ignited the "me too" and "time's up" movements.

cbs has learned they've been investigating this since january. they're looking into whether he arranged travel for women for the purpose of having sex. anne-marie? >> laura podesta here in new york. thank you so much, laura. well, oscar-winning actor morgan freeman apologized following a report that several women allege he subjected them to inappropriate behavior and harassment. freeman said he was sorry he made anyone feel uncomfortable. he said it was never his intent. eight women say they experienced harassment or inappropriate behavior. several others say they witnessed his alleged misconduct. this morning north korea says it was regrettable that president trump abruptly decided to cancel next month's summit with leader kim jong-un. the north said it is still willing to talk with the u.s. at any time. south korean president moon jae-in says he's perplexed by the president's decision. major garrett has our report.

>> i believe that this is a tremendous setback for north korea and indeed a setback for the world. >> reporter: after cancel the meeting the president spoke on north korea giving up its military weapons. >> our military which is by far the most powerful than anywhere in the world and has been greatly enhanced recently as you all know is ready if necessary. >> but mr. trump did not rule out future talks. >> it's possible that the existing summit could take place or a summit at some later date. nobody should be anxious. we have to get it right. >> the president wrote in a letter dictated to kim jong-un, the north's, quote, tremendous angle and hostility scuttled the summit, a reference to north korea's statement calling vice president mike pence a political dummy and warning of nuclear conflict. the president added, you talk about nuclear capabilities, but

ours are so massive and powerful that i pray to god they will never have to be used. mr. trump did end by writing, if kim changes course, please do not hesitate to call me or write. >> he said he's leaving us to meet president trump as soon as possible. >> less than three months ago the president accepted the surprise invitation by kim. in a sign of good faith north korea released three american prisoners. >> we want to thank kim jong-un who really was excellent. >> but trouble emerged last week when north korea complained about a joint u.s./south korea exercise and failed to show up in in singapore for a planned meeting. >> we've not been able to conduct the preparation between our two teams that would be necessary to have a chance for a successful summit. >> the white house says it's been in constant contact with the south koreans. earlier this week a top adviser moon jae-in placed the

probability of this summit at 99.9%, forcing the white house to admit only tuesday of this week did south koreans learn of president trump's increasing frustration and misgivings about the mid-june summit. major garrett, cbs news, the white house. north korea claims it destroyed its nuclear test site. journalists were allowed to walk up and see destroyed tunnels and see the entrances were impassable. but it's unclear how the blast actually affected the site or if the damage can be repaired or testing resumed. ahead on "cbs this morning," colorado senator cory gardner who sits on the foreign relations committee, we'll speak to him about the canceled summit with north korea and the future of u.s./north korean relations.

oklahoma city police say a shooting at a restaurant appears to be a random act. a man armed with a pistol walked into the rant last night and opened fire. two customers were wounded, but they're both expected to survive. the gunman was confronted in a parking lot by a handgun-carrying civilian and the suspect shot dead. the motive is unclear. the driver involved in a fatal crash last week is charged with two count of vehicular homicide and to appear in court today. according to prosecutors, 77-year-old hudy muldrow crossed three intersections to make an illegal turn in a median used for emergency vehicles. it was hit by a dump truck. more than a dozen airmen, guards at a nuclear missile base in wyoming, have been disciplined for using and selling mind-altering drugs including lsd. six were court-martialed. air force records indicate these

drug rings operated for months. it's another blow to the reputation of america's nuclear missile corps. tony dokoupil reports. >> reporter: f.e. warren base in wyoming is on the front line of america's nuclear defense, home of land-based nuclear missiles like these filmed by "60 minutes" in 2014, each 20 times more powerful than the bombs that destroyed hiroshima. they're supposed to be on high alert. but in documents obtained by cbs news, details on a drug ring base show some were just high, mostly on a psychedelic drug lsd. i absolutely just loved altering my mind, one airman testified at his court-martial. another said i didn't know if i was going to die that night or not and admitted he would not have been able to perform his duty in case of a nuclear security emergency. between 2015 and 2016 more than a dozen nuclear base personnel were found to have been abusing

lsd and other drugs including cocaine, ecstasy, and marijuana. none were accused of using lsd on the job. >> people are going to be affected on the job. >> reporter: but dr. elias dakwar says lsd's effects last longer than the initial trip. >> there may still be lingering anxiety, lingering suspicion as a result of any kind of experience that is harrowing. it leaves a certain residue. >> reporter: in a statement the air force said there are multiple checks to make sure the airmen are able to execute the mission safely, securely, and effectively. in all 14 airmen were disciplined including six of distributing and illegally using lsd. the most severe sentence was 12 months in jail but the lead prosecutor in that case wanted once more citing the effect this case could have on public trust, not to mention safety.

a solemn ceremony at arlington national cemetery for memorial day. members of the army's ceremonial old guard placed american flags yesterday at more than 228,000 members' gravesites. the tradition known as "flags in" has been held for more than 60 years. boxer jack johnson gets a pardon and the military gets a pay raise. "the wall street journal" reports the house passed a $717 billion defense bill. the bipartisan measure was approved 351 to 66. it gives the military a 2.6% pay raise.

that's the largest in nine years. lawmakers say the money will address shortfalls in military readiness such as pilot training, equipment, maintenance, and acquiring new weapons systems. the bill now heads to the senate. the "washington post" reports president trump granted a posthumous pardon to boxing's first heavyweight boxing champion jack johnson. mr. trump signed the pardon in an oval office ceremony. johnson was convicted in 1913 for violating the man act for traveling with his white girlfriend. the law made it illegal to cross state lines for immoral purposes. jackson served ten months in prison for what many view as a racially motivated injustice. "usa today" reports a security company must pay $1 billion to a georgia woman who was raped by a security guard. >> i was 14.

you took my childhood from me. >> hope cheston, now 20, was raped by the security guard in 2012. she was there to visit her friend for a sleepover. this could be the biggest reward in u.s. history. >> this is what 12 people in the state of georgia said a victim of rape is worth. a victim is worth $1 billion. that was a big win for us. >> cheston's attorney says it's unlikely she will receive the full award. >> and "national geographic" says yellowstone area grizzly bears will be hunted for the first time in more than 40 years. wyoming authorities have given the go-ahead for the controversial hunt this fall. they can be hunted as trophy animals including 12 females. grizzlies were near the brink of annihilation a decade ago. today there are about 700. still to come, alexa misbehaviors.

amazon's echo and netflix has a moment over disney. diane king hall is at the new york stock exchange with that and more. good morning, diane. >> good morning, anne-marie. opec reports they may start to produce more oil. meantime the trump administration is considering tariffs on imported cars. the dow lost 75 points, the s&p 500 shed 5 points, the nasdaq edged down a point. for the first time the value of netflix surpassed the walt disney company. it capped $153 billion making it the world's most valuable entertainment company. shares of netflix finished almost 2% higher. its stock has rallied almost 80% this year, more than any other company on the s&p 500. europe is enacting strict data privacy rule this morning. the general data protection regular legislations, biggest overall privacy rules in 20 years. organizations must have transparent justification for processing personal data or face

well, here's a way to surf without your surfboard being in the water. it's called foil boarding. california surfers are using hydrofoil technology to seemingly float above the water as they ride the waves. surfers say since there's less contact with the water, there's less drag, and that means hydrofoil boards can ride washs at faster speeds. and there could be many choppy seas ahead as hurricane season officially starts june first. national oceanic & atmospheric administration is predicting 16 named storms this seasons. of those, up to nine are forecast to become hurricanes and of those, four can become major with sustained winds of at least 111 miles per hour as they form in the atlantic. >> those storms tend to track farther westward, and that's why the caribbean and the continue anyone tall united states are more at risk. >> last year, 17 named storms developed in the atlantic with ten becoming hurricanes.

our top stories this morning. a search is under way for two men suspected of detonating a bomb in a canadian restaurant. the restaurant is located in a toronto suburb. more than a dozen people were injured. three of them are in critical condition. the motive for last night's bombing is not known. and movie producer harvey weinstein is expected to turn himself in this morning to face criminal charges related to allegations of sexual misconduct. dozens of women claim weinstein harassed or assaulted them, but this is the first criminal case against weinstein. the case reportedly involved actress lucia evans who claimed weinstein forced her to perform

a sex act back in 2004. weinstein has repeatedly denied having nonconsensual sex with any women. three lava flows from an erupting volcano are now pouring into the ocean off hawaii's big island. mark strassmann has spectacular images of the lava. >> reporter: nature's fury is on full display as fountains of lava continue to gush into communities hardest hit by this disaster. it's like a scene from "the dawn of time" when the world was made over and over. this close i can feel the heat and the power of a volcanic eruption that shows no signs of slowing down. the rare images of blue flames show a new danger. they're a telltale sign of highly combustible gas, the results of lava burning trees and grass beneath the surface. officials are concerned the methane will cause explosions if it's ignited while trapped underground. you're looking at one of four active fissures here in leilani estates. in the middle there's a

francisco and bridges. it is friday, may 25th. good morning. i'm kenny choi. >> i'm anne makovec in for michelle griego. we have breaking news. several lanes of 80 in crockett are closed after a big rig crash and fire near the carquinez bridge. a viewer sent us this video of flames shooting from the truck right in front of him. it's not clear what caused the truck to catch fire and we are trying to work to confirm whether or not the driver was taken to the hospital as the chp investigates. that shutdown is causing major delays. jaclyn reports. >> this is the kickoff to the holiday weekend. not a great start. we are tracking major delays along eastbound 80 so again, it's right near the carquinez bridge but the backup extends well beyond cummings skyway stretches towards highway 4 there in hercules so do give yourself some extra time if you want
