flag. good afternoon everyone. >> president trump is insisting only congress can solve this problem as mola lenghi reports. he is meeting this afternoon to talk about immigration. >> there is growing bipartisan backlash to the trump administration's policy separating parents from their children at the border. many of of the president's allies are calling for a halt to the separations. president trump will be heading to capitol hill to meet are house republicans but broader issues have taken a back seat to the separation of children from their parents at the border, a result of the new zero tolerance policy on people entering illegally. >> we want them to come through a legal process like everybody else that's waiting to come into our country. >> this morning congressman mark meadows, chairman of the conservative house meeting legi

four pillars. house republicans currently have two bills that would address all four of the priorities but they don't have enough support among republicans including president trump let alone democrats to get the bills passed. families belong together! >> protests popping up ape cross the the country. -- across the country. mothers holding babies adding their voices to the anger over separation of families at the border. we are now hearing the voices of some of the children who have been taken from their parents. the investigative journalism site pro public has obtained audio recordings from inside a u.s. customs and border protection facility. they include exchanges with

children talking with border agents. set the record straight. there is no requirement to separate immigrant families. this policy is donald trump's policy period. presidents bush and obama refused to implement such terrible policy. kpix5's jessica flores. >> one suspect was shot and wounded and taken to the hospital. now we are at one of three crime scenes. this shoot out really spans three different scenes in union city near whip al and railroad. >> reporter: video captured police officers with guns out using a k-9 to look for suspects who police say shot at officers. union city police say the exchange of gunfire between the suspects and six officers happened after officers tried to stop the suspect car near railroad and e street. investigators say the three

suspects drove off and ditched the car a few blocks away. police say the suspects tried to hide in the neighborhood before officers found and arrested the suspects all under 18 years old. one of the suspects was taken to the hospital with a gun shot wound. kerry williams lives across from the tracks where the shoot out happened. >> sporadic gunfire. i heard about 6 to 8 or 10 booming sounds that were consecutive. >> reporter: crime scene markers litter the area. at one home on 10th and e street, there is evidence all over the lawn including what appears to be a gun. police continue to look for evidence. >> we have located multiple weapons at the various crime scenes. >> reporter: union city police tell us that the suspect who was injured is expected to survive and no officers were hurt in out. i am jessica flores, kpix5.

a new push for gun control advocates to shut down gun shows in daily city. they're calling for an investigation of the show's organizers. >> reporter: gun control advocates came here to ask the cow palace board of directors to demand a state department of justice investigation that they hope will put an end to gun shows here. the allegations that two members of the family that owns the crossroads of the west gun shows have federal firearms convictions. the group is the longterm organizer of gun shows at the state owned cal palace. it is reported that the patriarch of the family who has served as a long time spokesperson was indicted in 1980 on 16 counts of unlawful sales of firearms, making a false statement, aiding and abetting. he pleaded guilty to one count

of unlawfully selling a revolver out of state. the other counts were dropped. >> no one should be organizing, promoting, sponsoring a gun show if the business employs people or is owned by people who have gun law violations. >> reporter: san francisco chapter of the brady campaign wants to know whether any such convictions were disclosed and to see if they might provide grounds to end the current show contract. >> i don't think it is appropriate for a state owned venue to the promoting and profiting from the proliferation of guns in our society. >> reporter: board members declined to comment on this matter until and unless this makes it on a future agenda. right now, the current contract with the gun shows runs through 2019. the next one is planned for september. anne makovec, kpix5. >> kpix5 reached out to temple ton about the criminal allegations. he has yet to respond. there is no comment either from

the state department of justice. los angeles sheriffs office showing off a major weapons haul. the seizure came after a tip that a convicted felon was in possession of a large arsenal and at one location law enforcement found more than 400 weapons that led them to a second location where the suspect and more firearms were found. soon you may be able to have pot delivered your door in walnut creek. city leaders will take up the issue at a meeting this evening. it's part of a broader plan to regulate marijuana operations in the city. the proposal would allow for two medical cannabis delivery service businesses but they would have to be away from schools, youth centers, daycare centers. fewer teens are having sex or experimenting with drugs. a new survey released shows students who reported having sex dropped from 48% in 2007 to

move off. a lot of you are seeing that sunshine and that's where you are seeing warmer weather. san jose, blue skies. it is sunny and warm. if you want relief, the coast is where to go. it's 56 in san francisco, san jose 70, concord 77. those temperatures are going to feel warmer than yesterday and well above average. we are looking at upper 80s and low 90s for morgan hill. across the east the heat will be on. by the end of the week we will be talking about triple digits. around the bay, mid to upper 60s as cloud coverage burns offer a little bit, you will feel a little bit warmer. at the beaches it may stay stubborn and hover along the coast. low 90s for lake port, clear lake. att park expect the marine layer to come back. we will have more clouds tonight. 62 at 7:15 as giants take on ri 5:47 in the morning. the ridge of high pressure is

the oldest alive has died. she mothered 11 children and incredibly about 10% of the total global zoo population. she was 62 years old. life is just getting started for these little guys in southern california. rangers discovered a den of four mountain lions in the santa monica mountains. they're very cute. they're all female and appear to be 4 weeks old, very healthy, and probably a little feisty. we'll be right back. oh look at that.

taste of the day will be these from florida or mexico. they're in the market. they're sweet and delicious. there is a large pit and hard to peel. but they're worth it. the flavor profile is out of this world. they're great for dessert. selection and storage is important. when you buy them, they're usually in a bag like this. you want to be sure they're nice and red. if they're not red and have brown around them, they've been stored improperly. make sure they're nice and red. when you bring them home, store them in the refrigerator. if you store them on the counter or outside the refrigerator, they will turn light brown. that might affect the taste. it does affect the look so you don't want to do that. in the refrigerator. i like to simply peel these, put them in your mouth, take
