let's get to brian hackney for the hot forecast. >> it is warm. 10 degrees warmer at this hour than it was yesterday at this time. temperatures will ramp up into triple digits by the time all is said and done today and it will be even warmer tomorrow. as we look live from the bay bridge, concord, 86 degrees. 10 degrees warmer than yesterday. 82 in santa rosa. no surprise, there are heat advisories posted for tomorrow. when the high pressure will build in more strongly and the temperatures are going to be even warmer. that is tomorrow for those heat advisories but we are not going to be that far off of the numbers for tomorrow today. in san francisco, usually we see 67. it will be up to over average average. talk about the prospects for record highs and the heat

advisory and red flag warning coming up when we cover the forecast. but it will be hot. >> thank you. this afternoon, president trump may be giving up hope that congress could strike a deal on a new immigration bill. >> reporter angelica alvarez says he is telling the gop lawmakers to stop wasting their time. >> reporter: while hundreds of children have been reunited with their families more than a thousand are still waiting. this as house republicans delay a vote on immigration reform. it has been two days since president trump signed an executive order to keep children with their parents who cross the border illegally. details of implementing the change are still being worked out including where the families will stay. another pressing question, how the roughly 2300 children recently separated will be reunited with their families. the whit about 500 kids have been returned to their parents.

one of those reunions took place this morning at the baltimore washington airport in maryland. her seven-year-old son was taken from her in may after they arrived in guatemala. she sued to regain custody and the justice department agreed to release the boy. after weeks of urging congressional republicans to take action on immigration, president trump is changing course and advising them to forget about immigration reform for now. on friday morning, the president tweeted republicans should stop wasting their time on immigration until after we elect more senators and congressmen/women in november. dems are just playing games. have no intention of doing anything to solve this decades old problem. we can get legislation after the red wave. this staff two gop immigration bills face trouble in the house.

a hard line conservative bill failed while a compromise was postponed until next week. and while house republicans are still working on hammering out the details of the compromised bill, house democrats were warned yesterday they would not support it the way it is now. on capitol hill, i'm angelica alvarez for kpix5. >> right now, president trump is holding an event pushing for stronger borders and surrounded by families of those killed by undocumented immigrants. president trump's executive order on immigration is set to expire in mid july. senator kamala harris is visiting a detention facility in southern california today. harris plans to tour the oti facility in san diego. it houses mothers separated from their children and a rallih harrisit on her visit at 5:00 p.m. another california lawmaker is calling attention to what the children are going through in the detention center.

this morning on the house floor, representative ted lou played a recording of children crying inside one of the facilities. morning. the fire broke out around 2:00 near west san carlos and fires before the cause is under investigation. >> this abandoned car burst into flames in rodeo today. the fire started to spread to nearby trees and grass, but firefighters quickly put it out. homicide detectives are investigating a double shooting in san francisco. the gunshots rang out just after 2:30 this morning at 24th and harrison in the mission district. one person died. a second person is in critical. no word on any suspects. new at noon, a heads up for food stamp recipients. an ebt card outage is set at this weekend. 24 hours starting at 11:00 p.m. tomorrow, california's ebt or electronic benefit transfer system will be down due to a change in vendors and a system upgrade. they will not be able to buy bay areainexcess of about 200,

deadline could put the state's pot supply at risk... marijuana >> some marijuana consumers are stocking up because an impending deadline could put the state's pot supply at risk. by july 1, all marijuana retailers are required to get rid of any pot products that do not meet state regulations.

hello kitty's mini cafe opened up. fans lined up for cakes, pastries, and sanrio merchandise. the grand opening festivities eearound since the 70s . i'm a teacher and i think she crosses all these generations and i have student that's love her. and that is probably a good three generations or so. >> yeah, i had a hello kitty watch. the cafe is a limited time popup in san jose. but no end date has been set. so if they have to wait out there, it will be hot. >> they will be melting like the wicked witch of the west out there. it will be warm. it will be hot as we have a look right now. the numbers in concord are in the mid 80s . here a quarter after 12:00. oakland is up to 71 degrees. livermore at 85. and santa rosa, 82.

the temperatures go up. the high pressure builds. the air quality suffers. we have unhealthful levels of pollutants in the air. high pressure just put a cap on the pollutants. high pressure in southern california and the high pressure well out to the eastern pacific. combination of the two means the pressure has come up. the temperature has come up. the numbers spike on saturday. 104 degrees inland. it will still be warm inland sunday. and cooler around the coast in the bay, but, the coast as per usual will be a place of refuge anyway. red flag warnings with all the warm temperatures this weekend. north and east bay hills, we get an offshore component to the wind. so the humidity drops. the temperatures come up. on the happy side, we have nice game tonight. it will be good weather for the san diego padres and san francisco giants tonight.

santa rosa is opening up a cooling center tomorrow. people can stay in the air- conditioned finley center on west college avenue. and, doors will be open from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. taking a look at the big board, the dow is up big about 179 points. today is take your dog to workday. >> but for some companies it is just another day. like, tech company fueled, this is based in new york. it is one of a growing number of companies allowing pet ins the office. animal officials say dogs in the office can lower stress levels in workers and a new survey found more than one- third of americans would swap other employee benefits for a dog friendly workplace. well, we have a dog friendly workplace because look of this little cutie. she joining us along with our pet expert today. we are discussing what to do if you find a bump on your pet.

owners may be facing with their furry friends. pic addresses wh >> every friday, we check in with our pet experts to tackle some issues we may be facing with our furry friend. what to do when you find a bump on your friend. dr. jill joins us with shadow. >> often times i get a call with an owner saying they found a bump on their dog. a lot of us veterinarians call them masses because a bump can be anything from a tumor or it could be an abscess, an

infection, or they could have gotten a little foreign material underneath the skin. sometimes they have a cyst. so, we don't really know what it is until we test it. it is always a good idea to have your veterinarian test it. tests that we can do. one is called a nine needle aspirate. we insert it into the mass and draw up cells to try to diagnose what it is. but if it is not and we want to do something different, that is very diagnostic, we would do a surgical biopsy. we take a piece of that tissue into the lab. depending on what we find. if it is an abscess, we treat it with antibiotics. if it is a cyst, we will remove it and keep an eye on it. if it is a tumor, we will take it out. it is important to know surgeons oftentimes will not do the surgery unless they know what they are dealing with because we do something called a margin. a margin is how much tissue we take outside the mass. that allows us to hopefully cure the pet. >> sounds good.

cantaloupes grown in the u.s. in the market, it's cantaloupe time. it is beautiful. they are a super food. but selection and storage is very important. when you buy them, a nice tight netting all the way around. this is very important. and when you bring them home, store them in the fridge. not on the counter. honey dews you can store on the counter. they get sweeter and riper. but not cantaloupe. so keep them in the fridge. i take them out a couple of hours before because i like them room temperature. locally grown. oh, i love them. i'm tony. your fresh grocer. always remember to eat fresh, stay healthy. i'm excited. they are just beautiful. >> cantaloupe is actually really good to eat when it is hot outside. >> i don't know that i have ever been excited about it. you know. he gets excited about cantaloupes. we have really warm weather
