>> the county fire grew dramatically overnight crossing into lake and napa counties and has burned more than 44,000 acres and is only 3% contained. it's starting about 100 structures. >> reporter: the smoke is very thick and is hanging low into these canyons. the steep terrain is one of the difficult challenges firefighters are trying to do it today. >> this fire is moving very very fast. >> reporter: since the county fire broke out on saturday afternoon, the flames have scorched 70 square miles, shifting winds changing the direction the fire is burning. some of these areas had not seen fire in two decades. >> we have not had this kind of history in a while so it is primed to burn. >> reporter: there are 100

buildings threatened by this fire and all the guests were told e. >> some are still here but that is the best thing to do, especi we have been through this a couple of times now so i am not really worried about it. >> reporter: the concern for firefighters is another change in the winds. the hottest part of the day is ahead and they believe the fire will grow to the east. >> we want to do as much as we can and extinguish as much fire as we can before the wind moves it. >> reporter: they hope to have the fire completely contained by july 10. >> firefighters are making progress battling a destructive wildfire in lake county. the pawnee fire is 75%

contained. the fire has destroyed 22 homes still at risk with more than 14,000 acres that have burned. the winds are starting to pick up and we are noticing that the future cast is showing that winds will get even more gustier. we want to look more at the pawnee fire. on the west side, we have 14 miles per hour with the wind. it's already very hot and humidity has dropped to 26%. we are certainly seeing dry conditions of the county fire is where the wind gusts are 25 miles per hour. we are noticing strong winds there and that will continue through the afternoon. a lot of people have noticed the smoke and ash in the air.

thailand's navy seals. authorities cautioned the operation is not over yet. the six mile long cave is filled with water and the boys may need to learn the basics of scuba to make their way out. the governor says there is still a lot of risks involves and that they need to widen the path and get them out safely. parents are thankful and overwhelmed and say they cannot wait until they finally see their sons. >> authorities say the cave is one of thailand's longest and one of the toughest to navigate. a cleveland man is under arrest. officials say demetrius told an undercover fbi agent that he planned to set up a ball on wednesday and watch it go off. he is a u. s. citizen that pledged allegiance to al qaeda.

morning that broke out around 3:15. known was hurt and the course is expected to stay closed until at least tomorrow. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. a woman who drowned is being identified as a 47-year- old. she jumped into the water last night after the wave pulled the children away but then she got swept away. all of the kids were rescued. a dinner parley turned -- party turned deadly. and man was armed with explosives and at 357 revolver. police say he shot and killed a neighbor and also his son and grandson. they survived. he then turned the gun on himself.ar

once they got a handle on the flames downstairs, they moved upstairs to search for a potential victim. the bedroom and bathrooms were all clear. they even had a breakthrough offense in order to access a shed that had caught fire. that is when one firefighter noticed something. the dog was in the cage next to where the threatened flames were beginning to spread and lie there as a firefighter doused him with hose. firefighters credit that to saving the dogs life. >> the pup did not get hurt and neither did any humans. in san jose, chopper five flew over a stadium that was flooded with fans watching the game. brazil takes on the winner of japan and belgium on friday.

i was rooting for mexico. >> they did a good job. this would be our camera outside. look at the haze. some of us are dealing with cloud cover and some are dealing with smoke across the skies. even east of san jose, it's a little smoke and you may notice a bit of ash but the good news is that some of it is higher elevation and it is not dropping down low so hopefully it does not smell too bad. places where the fires are burning near lake mary esther and the poly fire -- pawnee fire, but the rest of the area will be cooler today. we do have moderate air quality conditions for the north bay and east bay to the south.

it should be healthy for most of you. here is a look at the winds. the west winds are in san francisco but we are still getting north winds and today is the transition day before we get the onshore breeze. right now, this is pushing in marine layers that is burning off already with sunnier conditions out there but some of you are still dealing with the haze. san francisco is about three degrees cooler than average. we are looking at around 80 witches normal temperatures. 86 in concorde, 84 along the creek, san leandro is 71. overall, the ridge of high pressure that brought the heat over the weekend is now weakening so we are getting cooler air and the coastal winds
