east oakland. >> reporter: just past 4:30 this morning, this was the scene in east oakland. flames took aefr the building and forced the fef t sod awe second alarm and go to rescue mode fast. >> a second floor unit had four people. all adults got out of the building. >> reporter: firefighters got this under control in less than a hour. they had to work quick because of the close proximity to other buildings. >> a lot of oakland is dense. any time we have structure fires that far advanced, it, you know -- communication to other buildings is always one of our primary concerns. >> reporter: the building is a total loss. a dog escaped the house and

passed away later. all six people in the home got out safely. one treated at the hospital for smoke inhalation. >> the cause of the fire is still under investigation. and that wuntsd the oakland fire department's only call today. early this morning, a fire at a car stereo store. the flames were quickly knocked down. the wild fire burning in napa is three times the size of san francisco. it broke out saturday east of lake berryessa. and crews are slowly making progress. the wild fire is 30% contained. the fire scorched 36,000 acres. and there are new evacuations north of county road 40. in lake county, this wild

fire is # 2% -- 92% contained. the pawnee fire is expected to be fully contained by next tuesday. and powerful waves are creating dangerous conditions for surfers and beach goerings. neda iranpour has more. >>. >> tropical storm fabio is off the coast. this is the pacific ocean covered in the clouds. we have more clouds this morning. a lot of it is burning off. we can tell the surf is starting to increase. but tonight through early tomorrow, that's when the waves will get bigger and bigger. here's fabi o. it was downgraded from a hurricane to a tropical storm. it's moving northwest at 17 miles per hour and churning up
