nearby showboat watched as table rock lake overwhelmed a duck boat, along with 31 people on board. dive team search for survivors into the night and are back out again today. >> a lot of families involved that are down here on vacation trying to enjoy time and ends up with an incident like this. >> reporter: video from earlier in the day shows rough waters on the leg. around the time the boat sank, ofper hour were th wind gusts reported nearby. the owner of the duck boat company says nothing like this has ever happened in their 47 year history. >> it should not have been in the water if what happened happened. >> reporter: the duck boat owner says lifejackets were on

board. under law, passengers are not required to wear them. cell phone video shows the chaotic scene on the shore after first responders helped pull people from the water. crews say they will recover the boat from the bottom of the lake later today. >> it landed in about 40 foot of water. >> reporter: investigators from the ntsb are now at the scene and will be asking, giving the weather conditions, why the boat was out on the water in the first place. >> duck boat have been involved in fatal accident before. 30 people died when a duck boat sank in arkansas back in 1999. there is apparently a secret recording a president trump rtg his then lawyer michael cohen

recorded a conversation two months before the presidential election. the tape was seized during that fbi raid of his office and on it trump reportedly talks with michael cohen about potential payments to karen mcdougal. she claimed she had a year-long affair with trump and trump is often referred to michael cohen as his fixer. back in april, he famously brought up his name when asked about a payment made to adult film star stormy daniels. >> did you know about the payments? >> you have to ask michael cohen. michael is my attorney. >> of the phone recordings seized by the fbi, what is apparently two minutes long. rudy giuliani says no payment was ever made. > we have oulitical and reporter here. if the president was not aware that he was being taped, to

michael cohen break the law? >> it depends on where you are. in new york, the law is that a person can tape their own conversations and not tell other people were dissipating in the conversation about that recording. but don't try that home because in california the law is different. in california, every participant in a conversation has to consent before there is a recording made. so probably legal in new york and not in california. >> the president to discuss making a payment, what would be the impact? >> if he didn't actually ever make a payment to karen mcdougal, he is probably not going to get himself in trouble with regard to taxes or campaign-finance, however, and the stormy daniels case they could point to a conversation where there is a discussion about protecting the campaign as evidence that he did the same with her.d he, direct evidencbrkie law in if no payment was ever made. >> thank you for that insight. start -- the president says he had a

thursday. east bay congressman mark the saga is at the us-mexico border today. he plans to tour and ice neck -- i.c.e. detention center and plans to speak about it in concord next month at a town hall meeting. firefighters are trying to gain the upper hand on a deadly wildfire ranging near yosemite national park. as of this afternoon, crew shut down glacier point road due to fire traffic concerns. the ferguson fire has scorched nearly 23,000 acres so far since it broke out one week ago. it is only 7% contained. now for a check of the weekend weather. >> we are doubly going to see lightning strikes popping up right now south of lake tahoe. that of course is where we can definitely tell there is a fire danger, the pop-up shower again, this is south of lake tahoe. definitely showing several lightning strikes over the past 30 minutes near mammoth lake. we will watch this. there is a chanceacross the

all lanes are back open after a semi-truck crashed on highway 92. the c-h-p says it happened just before 5 this morning when a pickup truck l in san mateo county always back open after a semitruck crashed on highway 92. chp says it happened just before 5 o'clock this morning when a pickup truck lost control and slammed into the back of this red big rig in the eastbound lanes. both lanes were shut down as crews cleaned up the mess. the driver of the big rig says it was a close call. >> i see the big branch coming in through my windshield, and i just got away. think got i did. >> the crash scene took several hours to clear. chp says the drivers had only minor injuries. the search is on for the owner of a vintage wedding band e ofow it got there area beach. in who it belongs to is getting national attention. >> reporter: where have you

reporter jonathan vigliotti tells us it was hidden for centuries. in europe a drought and a drone have revealed an ancient archaeological treasure. >> it was hidden for centuries. >> reporter:relling a blessing. that drought revealed what can only be seen from a birds eye view, and if you look closely across this field of wheat, you can likely see several dark markings in the shape of a perfect circle. they are not extraterrestrial, but they are a gateway to another world. hidden in an irish farmers field, a discovery that his grabbed the worlds attention. a drone photographer captured this just over a week ago. a perfect circle as wide as one and a half football field. >> when you first saw the aerials of these markings, what went in your mind?

today's tip of the day is cassava melons. they are fantastic. they're not heirloom. the watermelons, cantaloupes, so many around, but the cassava melon is one of my favorites. it looks a little intimidating because of the texture. but inside it is smooth and silky and juicy and delicious. storage is very important. beautiful yellow color all around when you buy them. a little bit of green is okay. not too much. when you bring them home, store them on the counter and don't put them in the refrigerator, cold temperatures can hurt the right thing a little bit.

when you're ready to enjoy them, you get a wonderful aroma and they are ready. fi, n ine t -- but that will break down the juice, and that you don't want. cassava melons, one of the mainstays, i love them. with world cup rugby fever all over the city, you can play rugby with that thing. >> the bold and the beautiful is next.
